The video talked abut the rape allegations. The reporter said she went and asked the women if they were raped or knew someone who raped and the locals denied it. The reporter further explained that this should not be taken as fact because the women may be hiding the crime due to social pressure and wait for the investigation. Pretty balanced view based on currently known facts and does not give a clean chit to TMC. Don't know what else you want. Shekhar Gupta is an RSS sympathiser wearing the cloak of a liberal. If Shekhar Gupta went full Hindutva, he would lose his value as a "neutral guy willing to talk to all sides".
If you want to see the bias of Shekhar Gupta then see his reporting on Imran Khan and how he mentions "ball tampering allegations" and "below the stairs comment" every single time he has to speak about Khan. Even though none of those incidents ever went beyond the allegation stage wen Khan took the accusers to a court of law but Shekhar Gupta always potrays them as gospel truth.

The census is 12 years old. The anchor man is referring only to birth rate which is a misleading intention. He is smartly not referring to atrocious infiltration of Muslims from Bangladesh and Myanmar. Cut the clutter is a champion in misleading Hindus.
Quite a poor presentation of the issue particularly when anchor is SG. Instead of cutting the clutter, the discussions were too cluttered with trivial issues like transportation, population etc stretched beyond reasonable mentions. More than 40% of the time non core trivial points were made. It should have been an incisive and penetrative report with facts and more time to evaluate it on law and societal impacts. Poor comprehension, presentation and too cluttered.

Sandeshkhali is divided into two parts that are COMPLETELY separate. Sandeshkhali #1 has a majority of Muslims, while Sandeshkhali#2 has a majority of Hindus. Under Sheikh Shahajahan, however, the Muslims of #1 dominate and torture #2(hindus)

When Shekhar said Bengal had a low birth rate to dispel a notion that muslim population was increasing he was careful not to specify birth rates of different communities/ religious groups. To place this in perspective, last year the report specified that Muslims had a birth rate of 2.6, Hindus 2.1 (which is the replacement rate) and all other groups less than 2. This meant only muslim population was increasing, Hindus were constant at least for now, and all others were decreasing.

Shekhar, I am not sure how much you know about the ground reality or if you are trying to hide facts from the viewers.. The truth is:
1. Large parts of Bengal are now Muslim dominated. It’s unfair to call them minority
2. Although birth rate of Bengal could be low, how about the difference in birth rate by different communities
3. Don’t forget the 1000s of illegal migrants crossing the border on a daily basis with the help of TMC
Don't expect him to speak anything on this. He is known for selective de-cluttering and creating more clutter (like in this case using birth rate) particularly if this can benefit the right wingers. While Shekhar Gupta might not have got the pronunciation right (it is "shondeshkhaali" - where o is as pronounced as in "lorry" and the last 'aa' is a long vowel), a good perspective was given with the help of Ms. Sreyashi Dey who had been on the ground at Sandeshkhali. Thank you for that. This does help get a feel for what has been happening there and why the issue has suddenly exploded. The truth of the matter is that much of the eastern region, especially in West Bengal, the life of the weaker sections and the poor (they may belong to any religion) is in terrible shape. None of the political parties so far, be it Congress, Left Front or TMC - in spite of their best of intentions and even some efforts at various points of time resulting in some physical improvements - have managed to change much of the social power equations in the villages, at least so far. When women and weaker sections have nowhere to turn, they will (and should) rise in protest - which is what has happened - which appears to have got some amplification due to the approaching election season. Hope that will help justice to eventually prevail.
I think the possible demographic change is not on account of high birth rates, but on account of large scale illegal immigration from across the border.

I've been an avid viewer of CTC for the last few years for the supposed "unbiased journalism" and in-depth analysis but the serious white-washing done today has left me wondering whether the facts were always as misrepresented as they've been done today.
There must be a reason that the National Commission for Scheduled Castes has recommended for the President's Rule to be imposed, and still assessing the magnitude of the situation according to the state police's official statement is terrible journalism to say the least. Extremely disappointed.

Hey man , talk some sense.. in 1947 Maldah, Murshidabad and West Dinajpur had been exchanged with Khulna to East Pakistan, to connect India to North East. Those 3 districts had more than 60% muslims population before 1947. That is the main reason, WB has considerable Muslim population. And there is nothing wrong in it. Even if Bengal was not partitioned, it would have been the largest Muslim dominated province of India, and a population more than UP + Bihar.

And from what I watched, I just have one comment, I would appreciate you being more angry about the allegations. It feels like you are talking about budget (apparently you show more emotion in your discussion about the budget speeches).
I am not sure which political party to blame, BJP or TMC or Left, but this laid back attitude towards bengal is appalling. If it's been UP, I would have got the angry reaction from you which we all should expect, but I do not know why when it comes to Bengal, people even see these crimes as political drama, or lies, or something that happens in the country regularly. I am just so tired of this reporting. I think I have been member of the print for around 2 years now, but I think it's time to unsubscribe.

If we do get to know of any other facts, especially of loss of life or assaults on women, we will respond accordingly. Right now, there is one complaint of gangrape, which has been duly taken note of.

Is word of a Women only valid when she is english speaking? Ministers have lost their jobs because of such allegation. But these poor women who are actually scared of losing their status if they confess to such sexual exploitation, you depend on police? You dont even give these poor women comfort that nothing would happen to them, they should freely share their ordeal.
