I worked in an irrigation area in Nebraska. Not to many MM tractors but the vast majority of irrigations engines were MM. They liked the low rpm. I ran a G1000 diesel and IH 806. I liked the G1000 because it was quieter.
I love my ZB, when I was in high school our FFA club fixed it up. I love that tractor. I proposed to my wife on it too. It also has the clutch on the left side but it is seized up. No matter it works great just as it is.
I was raised driving narrow fronts, and yes one MUST be mindful of the type of ground you’re operating on, especially hilly ground! I understand your reluctance to let your kids drive a narrow front, but on the other hand, you should teach them how to drive a narrow front, because they likely will someday after they’ve grown up. Teach them now! That’s what my Dad did with us kids.
They do not unless you have the clutch that mounts outside the left brake. It’s hand operated and disengaged the transmission while allowing power to pto.
That old MM was running and sounding pretty good! Nice tractor! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks 👍Charlie. It is fun to drive.
Thanks
We have a z on our farm it gets used to run ha elevator, haul manure, and raking and tending hay
Dan, my old mmz narrow front had a hand clutch
Yes ZT and ZA were had clutch. ZB is foot clutch
Put a capful of dextrose atf in each tank of gas, will keep your top end lubricated
I've also been told to use 2 cycle engine oil as well. The modern gas is too "dry" for these old engines.

I miss the old R model minni
You've got a real nice place over there in Michigan, Dan, and some great tractors. I love watching this channel. All the best. Peter. 🇬🇧🚜
Thanks Peter

I’m looking forward to your continuing on the ZA rebuild. I’ve always liked their unusual engine design!
Now the ZB was the improved model of the ZA. Our ZA did not have live pto, I "m wondering if the ZB has live pto.

My first field job raking hay with a 1940ish red nose Z. Hand crank with an after market wide front. Sold to a scrapper for 35 dollars in 1990
Tractor safety is so important. It was taught in school just like drivers ed.
Do you do belt work ?
I have had this one on an Amish owned threshing machine before. I do have a belt driven hammer mill that I could use it on.
