My XBloom Studio does not grind fine enough for espresso. This has been a frequently encountered issue in some of the online communities. It seems that there's a bit of QC issue on spec for the grinder.
@EatingInFillory that's odd, even if there was a QC issue how coarse is it grinding? In my other video I laid out what a "1" looks like for reference. I'm sure they'd replace it if you let them know.
@@DannyPops Turbo/soup coarse. I've talked to a few people who have the same issue and have gotten replacement machines sent to them only for the replacement to have the same issue. Apparently XB support blamed the Flair and it "needing too fine of a grind" in at least one case. A few others have resorted to re-torquing the burr shaft/bolt which gives them a finer grind range. My machine at 1 is notably coarse - maybe Aeropress range no matter how many calibrations I've done. Others are grinding at 6-8-10-12 for espresso at 9 bar, so it is indeed strange. I do think that the number of folks using it for espresso is probably pretty limited though to be fair. 1:3 and 1:5 in 7 and 10 seconds with grinds of 5 and 1 respectively
i see the Gaggia Pro... do you recommend it for its size and durability? what else it out there? Looking for something small and sleek to pair with XBloom Studio for espresso, double boiler would be ideal for milk... Thoughts?
@needespressonow the gaggia is the perfect entry model, but yeah if you want a dual boiler my only one I've had is the rancilio silvia x which is amazing but big
The gaggia is no where near the refinement of the rancilio since that was a dual boiler. Steaming milk on the gaggia is a delayed process since you gotta turn the heat up and wait. The rancilio pro x was a beast and suited for a light coffee bar in a commercial setting.
I love that this video was made. Ive been waiting for someone to test this for a while. I wish the video had more a focus on specialty coffee though
You can put the dosing cup on the portafilter. It has a 58mm lip 😂
