    video idea:
use your anime randomizer to pick five anime, and then, after making a community post asking people to recommend their favorite obscure anime, pick five random ones (exculding ones you've watched) from your audience.
now, you watch the five randomly picked ones and the five audience recommendations and put them against each other with you making two videos (one for each side) reviewing the anime and giving a score of 1-10. at the end of the second video, you run the numbers and figure out which side has the better anime taste.

So the idea of this video is it’s basically a variety show with topic suggested by viewers? Awesome! This would be cool to see as a semi-regular series, maybe in the breaks between long in-depth videos.
As for another mini-topic for another of these videos: you mentioned “isekai” is now in the Oxford English Dictionary. How about a short history/catalogue of words that have entered the English vernacular from the anime community, especially as anime has become more popular over the years?

It would be cool too see a video on why some videogame series take on such drastic and radical genre changes, like jak and Daxter, banjo kazooie, prince of Persia, helldivers(arguably; 1 is a top down shooter while 2 is a third person shooter, but theyre both shooters), fallout, final fantasy(in recent years at least), I mean sure some are obvious like IP changing developers or new technologies becoming available to devs allowing them to experiment, but seeing your take on this idea I think is video worthy

In the topic of early TH-cam sponsors, I watched a video about Toby Turner recently and they showed how in a lot of his early videos he would agree to do product placement in exchange for money on TH-cam. It turned out quite lucrative, since TH-cam was where he got mot of his views, even though he earned most of his direct income from another website who paid creators for getting views.
It wasn’t exactly the same as modern sponsors, since it was often completely unmentioned, but he would often feature products like Coca Cola in his videos in exchange for money.

    - Gay/Trans/Gender representation in anime/manga (japanese public pop culture is savagely old style on these things, just think about one piece and in real life law they're more timid than victorian age british in recognizing people rights)
    - Japanese game dev culture vs "western" game dev culture (job ethics, relationship of IP/producers/creatives, indie scene)
    - Retro gaming (is it interesting, is it useful, why are people so snob about it, why is it so hard to push to new people who don't understand that diablo 1 in an incredible game even tough the grind is terrible)

Lex, the demographics you listed are also definitely genres and both happen to be the same word because the genre took it's name from that target demographic. But because it's confusing people usually want to be more specific in naming a subgenre like battle shonen to avoid any vagueness.
But they are definitely genres onto themselves. The closest analogy off the top of my head would be drum and bass shares it's name with and comes from the instruments, but you can have a band with just those 2 instruments and not be playing music that is the drum and bass genre.
So you can use the word josei to refer to either the demographic or the genre.
My dog can be named Spot and spots are a thing my dog named Spot can have.

    1. History of video-sharing sites like TH-cam b4 TH-cam was born (There's ShareYourWorld from 1997, which is pretty much lost media at that point when it comes to its videos, since not every vid from that site gets to be uploaded somewhere else)
    2. History of vtubers b4 the term of it and video platforms such as Twitch and TH-cam were born, or pretty much history of pre-vtubers or vtubers pre-Kizuna AI and pre-Hololive (there's the Mario head from Mario Teaches Typing and SCES in 1992, which pretty much predates the entirety of how vtubers work, so is the Wario Head from E3 1996, the one with the infamous "You want fun, Wario show you fun" quote used in those Wario Apparition memes b4)

The anime genre tier list was kinda stupid because it's all relative based on personal preference.

    this is fucking gold
I would definitely like to watch videos in this format regularly, in-between the deep dives that made me subscribe, just to get my (monthly...-ish?..) fix of Lextorias

anime genres explanation/tierlist is good enough to clip out as an independent video.
so it's easier to share on the 200,000 anime discords out there.

This was good! But I like longer videos that do take a lot of research and go deep on a singular topic. The random anime watch episodes are fun too for an easier-to-make video!

Hear me out: the entire history of TH-cam ads. Since you covered sponsors, why not go one tiny step forward.
If you really really want, the entire history of ad-supported freemium service business model.

So, while im a bit late to the video idea thing i still have a suggestion, but its not for a specific idea. just a method to find some. maybe. I'd look at your interests, hobbies, etc. and think about what questions you had when you first got into them, and see if any of those questions can turn into video ideas.
example: i like computers, and one of the first things that i learned about was cores, and how CPU's are structured. So maybe a video on how we went from single to multi core processors could be cool. or maybe how programs evolved to use multiple cores rather than just one and how that affected the market.

You're really good at tracing the history behind components of media. What about the histories of specific anime and video game tropes? Or go the other way, and trace how "Journey to the West" and the like have bled into the modern media landscape.

i think i remember hearing someone say that one of the first youtube sponsorships appeared in one of the first youtube ARG's. it was called lonelygirl (and then some numbers i don't remember), and the sponsorship was undisclosed bc they were trying to make it feel real. yeah, super real, guys, she's getting chased down by a cult but still stops to offer her friend some gum while specifying the brand name lmao
