I purchased the Garmin Varia RTL510 several years ago and mostly like it. One thing that impressed me was the accuracy of the radar. I have a ride loop that goes around a refinery. (Aside: The tanker truck drivers are courteous and are better at leaving lots of room than more car drivers.) The RTL510 shows the tandem tanker trucks as two separate targets close together. What I haven't liked about the Varia is its battery life. Several years on, the battery life has started deteriorating, so I'm looking for a replacement. The Bryton looks like a great option. Thank you for this video.
@Mamilian Does Gardia R300L support Ant+ Light profile in Garmin Edge? Can we chage light modes directly from Garmin Edge just exactly like Varia? Does mount of Gardia fit to Garmin standard? Imo difrence between Varia and Gardia is too small. I like Bryton devices but it is a liitle overpriced. Also Gardia frame holder is big disadvantage. Thank you.
Is there any way to adjust the relative speed threshold for detection? I have noticed it does well picking up cars and cyclists moving at higher relative speeds but will not detect someone coming up slowly on you.
Very good video. I’m in the market for a radar, I have a garmin 130+ head unit. Can I get the Bryton to make the audible warning sounds through Bluetooth ear buds? I believe you can do this with the varia. I think through the app??
Both the Varia and Gardia mobile apps make noise on the phone. If you have BT headphones connected, you should hear it. I haven't tested it, but I can't imagine why it wouldn't.
Unfortunately, my Gardia gives me endless false positive warnings. About five times more than correct warnings. False negatives are not a problem. Looks like I have to return it.
That's unfortunate. Assuming you have the latest firmware, it might be worth a conversation with support around that issue. I haven't noticed it, but it's possible that you've hit a scenario that they haven't accounted for. LMK how it works out.

R300L supports ANT+. Yes, it works very much like a Varia with Edge computers. Mounts aren't compatible.

Not that I'm aware of
