Yeah it my experience first buy should be the AccessPort after that the world is yours. You can go any route from CAI to TBE and any good company will send you map for your AP to match the the install. That allows you to get the parts on but put off a pro-tune until you have the cash for it.
I absolutely agree with you about the J-Pipe comment you made but there's one reason why people choose to go with a Catback exhaust first because an exhaust system is probably one of the first mods everyone do from the beginning which means the car is still until warranty and a J-Pipe will definitely void the factory warranty due the fact after the J-Pipe installation the cars needs to get tune. Note even if you factory reset the ECU back to its original setting Subaru could still find out the car has been factory reset before which initially means the car has been tune at some point because the information gets embedded to the ECU.
oil temps of 200-250 are totally normal for any engine, I really don't think you need an oil cooler unless you are towing lots of heavy equipment around. love your vids btw!
Just found this channel, I don't even own a WRX but your channel is seriously awesome. All the small mods and tutorial videos can be extremely helpful to those who are new to WRX/STI's. I'm hoping to pick up a 2015 WRX soon (or possibly an E350) leaning towards the WRX because its already stage 2. Anyways if I do get a WRX I will definitely be using all of your videos as guides for visual mods.
I'm on RCE Yellows, and I'm thinking about going over to coilovers. Don't get me wrong, they have been great for what I paid for them. They are getting bouncy in bumps in corners. I rode in a sti with coilovers, Which they had it on a soft setting; Felt stock and smooth. hmmmm.
Love the vids man! A few questions 1. I live in PA. We have emissions inspections but with a cat less J pipe I don't think it will pass. Are there any alternates? 2. Any brake pads/rotors you recommend just for spirited driving? Not for track. I know Hawk make some pads that are not as performance driven but they the dust is crazy 3. What size wheels/tires are you running for your summer wheels? 4. What coilovers are you on? 5. Any particular brake lines you would recommend? Haha seems like that's a video on its own. Thanks!
1. I would seek advice from locals and see how they get passed emissions. The j-pipe isn't too hard to install/uninstall and I would assume emissions isn't very often. 2. For spirited driving, the Stoptechs or Hawk HPS with DBA rotors will be just fine. 3. 18x9.5 +40 245/40/18 4. Prime Suspension 5. Stoptech or Goodridge
Just picked up a 2017 WRX and I'm somewhat hesitant to modify any part of the car that could void the warranty. Its fairly obvious that you're way past that now, but I was wondering if you had any advice when it comes to modifying a car still under warranty.
Keegan DeChesser I would recommend getting a catback that would bring out more sound. I currently have a turboback, intake, and a protune and the dealership is already giving me a hard time. Anything with touching the ECU will make the dealership squirm. So definitely do a catback if you want to make it louder but not void the warranty. Other good mods would be switching everything to LED bulbs 👍
If your not too worried about the warranty, I would say go for it. The most important thing I can tell you is to to get a reputable tuner who is knowledgable with this platform.
Fruity Keggles Rims and tires, catback exhaust, and appearance mods won't void the warranty. You won't void your completely warranty if you do mods. If you mod a certain part and something goes wrong with another part of your car not related to your mod then you're covered. I'd say talk to your service department. I talked to the master mechanic at my Subaru dealer. He said I could do a Cobb stage 1 and it wouldn't effect the warranty coverage.
What aftermarket wheels are those? And what size are they? And if I get a stock 2016 sti can I get those wheels? Can I run them with no spacers or stuff like that?
I have a 17 wrx and really noticed how bad the brakes are. What are your thoughts on the ctsv brake swap? I would just upgrade the pads but all the good pads leave like an inch of brake dust on the wheels
I would do it. People have done it and love it. Unless you are going to the racetrack, normal street pads that don't produce a lot of dust will be just fine.
I have a 2017 Subaru wrx base model. I found a set of enkei nt03 18x8.5 +38 they are on a set of hankook ventus v12 evo3 tires. The tires are 255/40/18. Are they going to rub?
Peng Su are you going to track it or just daily drive it? My cvt is tracked and i recommend investing in cooling and supporting mods along with a conservative tune. First must have mod is the cvt cooler imo. That's the route I took and haven't had any issues yet even with 12 hpde.

Wheels and tires are a definite must if you don't have the STi package.
Do Boy's Garage i need help with that lol clueless
MixedBag facts

I agree! And yes, oil cooler on track days!
There so expensive though!
Andrew Thomson yup! but so is motor issues.
True, I wish their was a oil cooler/Radiator combo for the 2015 wrx. That would make the most sense.
Andrew Thomson check out ron davis radiator/oil cooler combo. Cali WRX is putting this unit on his 400whp build, if you know and follow him
White Wing STI I saw that in one of his videos. Got to find a dealer and check them out.

Protune and Rear sway bar FTW
You have my favorite wrx on youtube, keep up the good work!
Thanks man!
Great list! Oil cooler for sure, I know I need one. I would also recommend an air/oil separator.
Sumotomo htrz3s are a great budget tire for anybody looking, very similar grip to super sports just don't last as long. Highly recommend!
i fit the moshimoto jpipe on my 16 wrx and k&n air filter did the pro tune man the car sound mad and goes so fast
AYE!!! at 0:53 and 5:03 that's me driving his car!! lol
Thoughts about short throw shifter? Think thats a big one, but besides that every point you made is spot on.
It's nice, but not so much of a necessity.

nice video man, I don't even own a WRX but love your content. I just order a mavic pro drone so I could get some sick rolling shots like you..👍
Cars with JR!
#1 - number plate to the right gives you 20+ hp, especially when you have the stock intercooler.
I have a front mount intercooler...
Huge Fan.. Your videos are always on point and love your ride.
Thanks man!
Good stuff man! I just picked up a new wrx recently so this helps.
Great vid bro. Need breakfast mods next

Keegan DeChesser I had my accessport installed when they had to replace my scavenger pump on my17 wrx. They didn't say anything. All depends I guess
jonizzzle Yeah I've got a catback from Nameless coming in soon, but tuning is what I'm hesitant to do. Thanks.

Thanks for answering my request
damn that was a 4.2 0-60. Not bad
can you put a Mishimoto oil cooler and a lower thermostat?
Wait will the access port ruin your pro tune?
your buddy with the sti i have him on fb. hes in the navy right. i thought he was moving.
cool video can't wait for the next video
What’s the difference performance wise between top and from mount inter coolers
My WRX Channel
What temperatures are you noticing to justify an oil cooler? Street/track? I've seen mine peak around 208 in the summer.
do you think an aftermarket charge pipe is necessary?
What aftermarket wheels are those? And what size are they? And if I get a stock 2016 sti can I get those wheels? Can I run them with no spacers or stuff like that?
How much of an upgrade do those air fresheners give? #newcarscent
So like 25 extra hp!? Dayum
Any raspiness with the catless j-pipe?
bigger radiator and air to water intercooler??
Do you need a tune just with the oil cooler?
I think you could've gone for better rims ✌but dope car tho
What if your running a apr-gtc300 wing will a rear sway bar help
Of course it will. Most rear sway bars are adjustable.
Do you usually get your parts from amazon?
What J Pipe are you running?

I know you said that you don't recommend springs for the VA platform, but is it alright for just daily driving or are coilovers still worth it?
It's fine for normal daily driving.
Does the verticooler fit with an aftermarket pitch-stop?
Some have reported that the bottom of the intercooler touched the pitch stop. No issues on mine though.
I have a 2017 Subaru wrx base model. I found a set of enkei nt03 18x8.5 +38 they are on a set of hankook ventus v12 evo3 tires. The tires are 255/40/18. Are they going to rub?
Ryan Kohler they shouldn't
anyways do u do installs im in the process of trading my 16 scion tc for a 17 sti.
I noticed in the video you have rhe dccd icons on the dash, did you swap the diffs?
I was driving Casey's STI.
Lol ok because that's a huge mod but hear its worth it
How is an AOS or catch can NOT on this list?! I definitely suggest people get this, stock or not. just do it.
Different video on the way for maintenance mods. This is for performance mods.
Why a wrx? Why not sti
Dumb the sti is quicker
how can we mod our cvts to handle the power ?
I can handle a little bit. Simple bolt-ons. That's about it.
Peng Su are you going to track it or just daily drive it? My cvt is tracked and i recommend investing in cooling and supporting mods along with a conservative tune. First must have mod is the cvt cooler imo. That's the route I took and haven't had any issues yet even with 12 hpde.
Trade it in and buy a manual lol
Throw out the sway bar and and pickup a used LSD for the almost the same price.
are you fucking dumb?
....yeah definitely don’t do that lol
Came for mods. Stayed for sausage 💦❤
Christopher Barger lol
All these mods can be good as well on an CVT? Instead of stick?
