  • Just a short drive outside of New Orleans, you'll find the Whitney Plantation. In all the plantation museums in the state, this is the only one that tells the story from the point of view of enslaved people on its grounds. Take a tour of the Whitney Plantation with GoNOLA TV.

Thank you for telling this story, thank you for keeping the memory of our ancestors alive, and what they had to go through.

Visit to NO was cut short due to pandemic but on my return will def visit the WP to get in touch on a visceral level with historical truth of slavery in the United Staes.

Very important to learn and understand what the life of an enslaved person was like because a lot of these videos I feel try to glorify this experience like it was a great thing like the lives of these Black people really didn't matter and only the products and the wealth that was produced mattered it's very hard for me to see any positivity in this.

Monique, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. We hope the video on the Whitney Plantation helps people understand what people can learn there and encourages them to visit to learn more.

I feel the the “Dr” was dressing it down vs reality and actually happened and was happening. I’d like to hear/see this from someone who isn’t trying to soft serve slavery.

What's crazy bout all this is that you have to pay to get in there or some of these museum just to see I'll people and where there used to stay and the life they had to live in 😢😢😂😮 and we still have to pay the white man for life so that being said we're still slaves😮
