    Thank you Dietmar! Very unique presentation. This wine appears so red it looks like it even stained the glass!

    I remember those 90s Insignia, they were incredible! You invited me to my first bottle - the most expensive one of all of them: I have been an avid fan ever since and have a few vintages in my cellar waiting for that special day!

      I feel like Caymus is overrated now. The wine is different that it was before, much thinner, not as good as a few years back

    Hi, love your vedio!😀 l have a collectable stags leaps wine bottle in my collection but it has a small wrinkle in the corner of the label. It appears to have happened during the labeling process when the glue was still wet.
    Does this affect the overall value?

    Gary V just did a new video yesterday and he reviewed the 2014 Insignia. Watch it when you get a second.

      Chris G Chris, I just watched it. Must get my hands on that Pinot! I had the Insignia 2014 before and liked it quite a bit. He may have been wined out at bottle 4. Also, 2014 is still young and could use 1 more year. I felt that way when I tasted the 2016 on my video. When you taste that good of a wine, you need to project it into the future. Same with the 2015 Barolo. Too young plus needs 2 hours decanting.

    Hey, I'm an amateur, but how exactly does the fermentation process bring about all these different flavors, ie, olives,and even tobacco?

    • @decantswithd
      @decantswithd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a combination of the terroir in which the wine is grown, the way the wine is treated while growing, in what kind of wood barrels the wine is aged and for how long, what ingredients are added and what is happening in the fermentation. That’s where the wine makers expertise comes in.
      Cheers!

      @@decantswithd Hey, thanks for answering my question!! I know this may sound silly, but does it mean, for example, if a winemaker in Isreal has a grove of olive trees, could he convert to grapes and it may have an olive flavor?

    • @decantswithd
      @decantswithd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zachary Mancini That’s true, Zach. In the end it comes done to personal preference and price/ value. What sense does it make to spend another $200 on a bottle that is marginally better than Insignia?

    Insignia is 10 times the wine that is Caymus. Caymus rhymes and tastes like anus.
