can CFD be used in torroidal pitch/ fan design? for shrouding design?or nacelle design? for ducting? for ipe flow? for testing wind resistance of proposed building shapes? Thanks for postng, by the way. very informative
hello at 32:21 , the pressure moment is along y is negative , what dose that mean , it would be great if someone would eloborate on that topic , cause ive been trying to make a similar project and im getting my moments along that axis as negative

@@reeceengineering forum.simscale.com :) That's something you can decide for yourself and then see which design leads to the best results (whatever results you are aiming for) - most of the time there is a tradeoff between several parameters.
Thanks for sharing. I see in your project that your geometry outside the simulation is different than inside the simulation. The simulation has a "BoundingVolume" part defined, apparently with negative geometry of the prop. How was this created?
Hi Joshua! AFAIK the propeller was just enclosed in a cylinder in a CAD software - the so called bounding box around the cylinder & propeller can be created on the platform and will be created by the mesher! Does that clarify things?
One thing always puzzles me is why you can give arbitrary and independent inlet speed and RPM values at the same time as boundary conditions to begin with? I always thought the inlet speed is a result produced by a certain blade / system design at certain RPM. can someone educate me on this, much appreciated!
Hello, my understanding is that the starting velocity is helpful in setting the flow in the proper direction and can help the solution to converge more quickly, even though it is not the true accurate solution for the velocity across the inlet. As such I don't think it would be a true boundary condition, just an initialization parameter.
We just recently launched electromagnetic simulation (low-frequency). You can learn more here: www.simscale.com/blog/low-frequency-electromagnetics-simulation/. There will also be a launch webinar coming up later this month (registration should start this week). You can also view our product roadmap here and suggest any ideas: roadmap.simscale.com/tabs/4-recently-released.
On your propeller efficiency slide before Q and A.....Shouldn't your RPM be engine RPM not Propeller RPM? The reason i ask is because most propellers cant exceed 3000 rpm.
This is very specific and related to the technical application. In this simulation, we have actually simulated the propellor for this RPM range therefore we use this display format.
Hello, I have been trying to do this simulation for custom designed propeller for Mars helicopter. want to know you you defined Air material to the bounding box? I only get to select the cylinder as volume for adding material. Can you help me to define bounding volume in material section? Thanks in advance!
You can simply select the material for your bounding box on the left side under "Material" and choose "Air" which is totally legit by the way as you want to let air go through the domain. What exactly are your concerns here? You can also select a material and adapt its parameters in case you want to adapt it due to different atmospheric conditions.
We need more of these type of videos pop on our recommended page, great webinar and thank you so much for such an awesome tool!

Can you share the propeller geometry so we can follow while watching the video? Excellent tutorial.

I am designing aircraft propeller sir. I have a doubt.. Where should I apply the blade angle and sweep angle
Feel free to post your question along with the link to your model in the forum, we will help you out!

How do you import 2 models and merge them together into simscale to create the propeller and rotating region, please?

Where you created the enclosure for blades,? Did you created it in simscael workbench kr or what?
I would advise to create the enclosure directly inside your CAD software. That's the easiest way!

You mean like also by showing how the CAD has been created?
