I like the interaction between Hunter and Paul and Ben a lot. It's been fun watching and listening to the back and fourth between everyone. Oh, don't forget the blinker hole indicator things :)

Yes! Subtracting fractions may need work though. My carpenter friend said he always had problems with that to, till he put his hand in a saw. Now he can count fractions on his fingers!

Next shot: Paul proceeds to use the same tool Ben was using instead of the cutter he just recommended haha
when it comes to your gauges, an trick is to mount them so that when in the normal operating range the needle is straight up. as the eye catches anything different, you will spot it sooner and shut off before damage is done. yes it looks weird at rest, but it saves bills on a new trans or engine as you can stop it before it gets hurt

I'm with Michelle on this one. I'd break your fingers if you mounted the gauges in there crooked.
Dash will look great and be functional . You did a nice clean job on it .
Love the dash. Don’t worry about the seat, those melted spots will fill in with mud soon enough. 😂

First, I like how Hunter is working with the camera, getting a groove going. Second, I like the questions he asks because for some folks it is knowledge for them to attain. Call out to Hunter for becoming more & more part of the 'pack'. If you see something is off, say something or learn something. We all are better when vigilant than being passive practitioners!
Paul, as with some vehicles, the defrost is multi directional. So,... If you just took some pliers and bent the loovers a lil bit, it would throw hot air in more than just above thee loovered vents.
Dash is coming along very nicely! Can’t wait to se the truck finished, but for the love of everything holy, switch the tach and the speedo lol. Tach on the left and speedo on the right.

I was putting seat brackets in a 70 nova while another guy welded in cage plates on the floor. Well his welder was set too high he welded through the floor and through the 3/8" aluminum fuel line. Immediately igniting a stream of race fuel. I turned and saw 3ft flames shooting out of underside of car and took off running. I got about 200yds away b4 someone finally grabbed a ABC extinguisher and put it out. Made mess of the car all that powder but yeah haha crazy exp. Lesson is know whats behind what you are welding
I had a friend with a pickup, with aftermarket saddle tanks. One tank wouldn’t feed, so they pulled it into the garage, and ran a wire up line to clear it. It worked, dropping fuel on the floor at the same time the furnace kicked in. Set the truck on fire and burned it to the ground.

The Rat Rod Tow Truck is coming along nicely! With Michelle approval and Grandma overseeing the work, the Tow Truck Olympics just around the corner will be fun to see! Haha love it! 3:45 You can see Ben moving the pipe then measuring it and confidently saying "One inch!" -It's like when his head is turned, his hands begin moving independently of his mind. Very instructional show case there.
That stereo dash is not very Rat Rod, but it is 2022 almost 2023. I am hoping you bought the face plate in multiples. It will be destroyed a few times. Overall it is looking very cool. I still think Trail Mater will beat it. I am not yet sure on Tow Mater versus MORR wrecker. Should be some good competition.
I like the part where you put the welding blanket down after starting a fire. "We do it right because we do it twice"🤣🤣
Not a welding blanket. My eyechrometer says paint tarp. Cotton. Everything will be fine.
Add U Bolts on dash similar to Rory's Trail Mater for Winch controls, it will make it so you can run wrecker wenches from drivers seat, keep you from misplacing or searching under a seat or on floorboard for Controllers and also keep them from being damaged, broken or lost

I said distressed white for color but I've changed my mind I think emergency green would be way way cooler with gold or black pin striping. You'd be able to see it coming 10 miles away in the desert and or snow and Matt already has emergency yellow.

Paul Ben you may want to think about putting a bit of shroud above the gauges so as to keep the illumination from showing up in the wind screens glass when it is after dusk or before dawn. Merry Christmas to all of the team.
Some foam rubber or neoprene between the roll cage and the stereo monitor might be a good idea.
Hunter has really come into his own. It's good to see that y'all work so well together.

You all couldn't bend a piece of pipe to save your lives. Hint.. Bend just the corners out of short stock and then cut to length the rest of the part and wield to fit.

PAUL! If you would (FOR THE THIRD TIME!) and just take a 24” long piece of the material you want to bend and machine a small groove or mark 6” from the end then put that mark at the beginning of the the actual bending die and bend it 90* you will forever have you a master template of that bend and once you have one of those for each bending dies you will NEVER miss a bend again! DO YOU ACTUALLY READ THESE COMMENTS?

He was originally going to do that, but later said he liked the welded look so went that way.

Hunter nailed it.. Use the cardboard template, by soaking it in Epoxy resin.. ensure you leave markings and notes and cut lines etc on it for character. And if you don't use it on the project you can sell or auction it off. =)

Being a Sheetmetal Worker for 35 years, I always enjoy watching you guys do sheetmetal fab. The use of the double cuts is great for mostly "straight" lines. If you happen upon a set of "uni-shears" I would suggest you pick them up. They are much easier to use when doing radius cuts. Makita 3.3 Amp 16-Gauge Shear Model# JS1602. You can get uni-shears that will cut up to 12ga.
