IS MEL GOING TO TURN INTO THE BEST BEGINNER MAGE? | League of Legends
Hey Huzzy,
I’ve been following your streams and videos over the past few months, and as someone who genuinely enjoys your content and wants to see you succeed, I felt it was important to offer some constructive feedback. I really hope this can come across as a way to elevate your content and gameplay that will benefit both you and your community.
1) Your attitude towards the game:
You are extremely negative and bitter about every aspect of this game, ranging from game design and game mechanics to teammates. As someone who plays this game regularly, I understand that parts of the game are super frustrating to deal with, however, its gotten to a point to where I hear more complaining than actual good educational commentary. For example, when you lose a matchup, it often feels like the game design or champion balance is the primary reason, but rarely do we hear about how the situation could’ve been handled differently, like adjusting your playstyle or learning from the loss. Whenever you get ganked by the jungler, its always because they "probably are a duo" but never "I was overextended, I should've warded". I understand venting can feel good in the moment, but I’ve noticed that it sometimes detracts from the educational value of your content. On the flip side, I feel like when you’re in a positive, upbeat mood, the stream is a lot more engaging and enjoyable.
2) Inconsistencies in what you say:
I’ve noticed a few contradictions in how you discuss champions and gameplay. For example, when you face older champions with simpler kits, you sometimes claim they have better raw stats and can stat-check you. However, in other instances, when you play against newer champions, you argue that their overloaded kits make them impossible to deal with. I can see where you’re coming from, especially when champions like K’Sante exist, but sometimes these statements feel like blanket explanations for why a game didn’t go your way. A little more consistency and analysis of each situation would be helpful.
3) Double Standards:
I’ve noticed that you oftentimes report teammates who might be having a rough game, even though they’re not necessarily intentionally feeding. Meanwhile, when you have a bad game, you tend to blame it on unlucky circumstances or your teammates’ performance. I think it would be great to show a bit more grace toward others, just as you show to yourself. For example, in your Thresh video, you missed a few hooks and mentioned, “even the best miss hooks sometimes,” but then in other videos, you’ve criticized supports who miss hooks. I wish you would hold yourself and others to the same standard.
4) Responding to Criticism:
I understand that being a content creator means dealing with criticism from all angles, and some of it can be unreasonable. However, when valid disagreements or critiques pop up-whether in stream chats or TH-cam comments-I’ve noticed that you often brush them off rather than engaging with them. I think that addressing these points head-on could lead to constructive conversations that help you grow. Of course, you’re free to decide who you engage with, but I've seen a lot of discourse receive quite a lot of engagement from your community; so, if you’re aiming to improve and evolve as a creator, being open to discussions, even when they challenge your approach would definitely help your community grow.
5) Focusing on getting better at the game:
Right now, your rank is around low Diamond/high Emerald with a sub-50% win rate. While I understand that bad games happen, at some point, it’s important to recognize that improving at the game requires self-awareness and ongoing effort. I think there’s room for you to grow in areas like wave management, jungle gank timers, roam timing, and decision-making. I’ve noticed that your thought process isn’t always clear during streams, which leads me to believe that you aren't thinking about some of these things. I truly believe that focusing on improving your gameplay and explaining your thought process more could not only help you climb but also make your content more educational and relatable to your audience.
The reason I’ve taken the time to write this out is because I care about the future of your channel and want to see you succeed. Your Unranked to Diamond series was a huge influence on me and played a part in my own journey to Grandmaster, and I know I’m not alone in this. You’ve built a strong community, and I genuinely believe you have the potential to continue growing and bringing back some of the old flare of your older content.
I agree, I really wanna see the video content but the negativity and lack of self reflection and accountability really irks me
My imagination for Mel is that she gets scaled down early, especially with the execution range, but then in late game becomes scarier. If they try and make her not scale then she's just going to turn into a support like pyke
Supposed to be asleep but I’m on the edge of my seat
Mel is way too easy to play for her carry potential
Mel is a straight up a better mid champ than Annie and Lux, I would like to see some updates to Annie at the very least as she is stuck in mid and cannot keep up with anything. At least Lux has Sup.
I think Mel will be balanceable but they'll have to balance her in a way where she's kinda subpar on average but she'll be great in games wher"e there's multipel enemeis with big important skillshots to reflect.
I've had games where almost no one had any thing big & valuable to reflect.
Algorithm
i hate Mel's Q, is it even possible to dodge that thing, no cast time just goes boom
Agree, as an ADC if I see her in botlane I just know I’ve lost lane 90% of the time
