the increase officers do is for Penetration damage and not Penetration ,two different things and to penetrate a tank you must have penetration > armor thickness by no more than 50% or you start do less damage ,in this case armor 300mm you need penetration between 300-450 mm.
this is not true
When the attacker’s Armor Pen is less than or equal to the target Armor Depth, penetration does not occur and only 50% Dmg is dealt.
When the target Armor Depth is less than the attacker’s Armor Pen and the attacker’s Armor Pen is less than 1.5 times the target Armor Depth, penetration occurs, inflicting 150% Dmg.
When the attacker’s Armor Pen is more than or equal to 1.5 times the target Armor Depth, impeded penetration occurs and only 50% Dmg is dealt.
The Armor Pen displayed for the attacker is an average value, but in actual combat, there is some variation. The chance of penetration is optimal when Armor Pen is 1-1.5 times the target Armor Depth.
it should stay at 1-1.5times that is correct, but did you check when i try to fight front vs front & front vs back, all the armor of front, back, side is not really working.
Your officer don’t increase then pen, only the pen damage in case the pen success. If your TH has less pen than the armor, there’s no wonder

254mm penetration cant penetrate 310mm. The Officers Increase the Damage WHEN it penetrates. they dont increase the Penetration depth. or i am wrong? you need PEN>Armor to get the Bonus. The difference between PEN and Armor is a factor that is used to calculate the Damage that gets through the Armor. And this Damage gets increased by this Officer Skills.
I think Penetration works only in a Window depending on the Armor of Target. for example, for 200mm Armor you need 200+ Penetration. But there is a Limit too. When the Penetration is extremely higher than the Armor, it works complete in diffrent way and do nearly no Damage. thats why Anti Tank Gun dont damage Medium well.
And the Front Rear Side Armor Difference does not exist i think.
The Tankhunter has only 100mm Armor. the SH has 280 Penetration. That is overpenetrated i think, and the Damage is extreme reduced. so he die to the TH
Wilhelm and death adder have a passive ability of increasing pen, and there is a significant difference between rear and front armour.

your info might be wrong. what kind of logic is that too much PEN and make the PEN not working?
Front, rear and side armour different is very much a thing btw, check sh attributes

I should be penetrate.. TH already got 457= PEN+(80%).. meanwhile on SH 310+50%= 465 ARMOR.... So that is not more than 150%>>... WARPATH mechanic not working properly...

but baiscally warpath dont have a firm count system for everything. No idea why we gamer have to keep test thing that they can simply tell us in details with 100% correct.

That is right, but this testing is to show us how TH use to counter SH, because mostly people use SH in the game and we want to find a way to counter them and see who TH doing when we all just press attack / auto-attack without knowing what is really happening.
late game best base defend units (maxed out) - SH , Vanguard TH, 2 Liberty Arty and LT thoughts Hunter?

It's good but not the best for defend. but you have better field pressure + mobile

no , both can be used any tanks ,both officers 4th skill is pen damage boost so he used

Pen Depth from SH is so high that the overpenetrated effect reduce his damage. Like in another Comment explained. FOR 100 Armor on the TH you need a Penetration Depth from 100 to 150. Lower cant Penetrate and Higher is even worse. Thats important for balancing Counters. Anti tank Gun only penetrates only H and SH. Without a Limit on Penetration it would 1 hit L/M and TH
1. The amount of TH more than SH = TH shoot more dmg than SH can shoot per single attack.
2. TH attack speed is little faster than SH that make the difference too, if you compare blue/red arty.
3. Officers skills & buffs, SH is more on healing & defend, but TH have 2 officer for attack.
4. TH able to focus fire 1 target of SH group, and kill it quick enough from 25 v 12, 25 v 11, 23 v 10, 20 v 8 and go on. and you will see the side with more shooting will win.
(of course level etc count too)
