      "Khabib fought cans"
      That is a non statement. You catch anybody saying that you tell them this:
      Literally everyone fought cans at the beginning of their career. Very few people pull a Alex Pereira and immediately start fighting bangers as soon as they start MMA. Khabib still never loss. Even more than that. He has more 10-8 rounds than anybody else in combat sports history, never had damage on his face, never drew blood, and has never even been dropped.

      This fight Charles and Islam is going to tell us a lot about how things are going to go for the next 5 or 10 years. Will this invasion of Dagestan and Chechnya and other Sambo to MMA places continue to take a stake. As a fan what I want to see always is the best get a chance to compete. If this promotion ended up with 2/3 of its champions from that background, I'd have no problem with it. I want it pure. I want to know who is best and what methods are best because in time it will level out. Everyone will wake up and start finding out what they're doing how they're doing it and copy it. That's how it's supposed to be and how it needs to be.

      Here’s the thing- especially for fans old enough to be here from the beginning- there is no way any of us will ever respect a so called “PROFESSIONAL” record that includes 5+ fights that were scheduled for only 2 rounds. No way a 2 round decision in a league with no elbows and no ring or cage, just on a small mat, is seen as a legit “PRO” win. Regardless of where or why or who.

      Who would you say is the goat then? I too somewhat agree that he is not but I would call him the goat based on what he has done but I would not doubt it if he fought a really strong wrestler. He just dominated everyone in a way no one else has done. I think whoever wins between Islam and Charles has a great chance to surpass Khabib in a few fights after the title fight. They have a chance to fight more of the top guys than Khabib did.

    • @mateosmind751
      @mateosmind751 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nobody with double digit losses can surpass Khabib. I agree that it's respectable to retire on your own agenda. People shit on Ricky Williams for quitting football and called him a lazy pothead. He spent the next 4 years studying Chinese Medicine. He did the equivalent of getting a Chiropractor and Acupuncture license as well as extensive training in nutrition and herbalism. He wasn't lazy. He just had other interests than football. The people talking shit didn't lead their college to a national championship or average over 100 yards rushing a game for multiple seasons.
      I respect humans that are more multi faceted. The guy who said Olivera could surpass Khabib, how? Let's say Olivera wins his next 3, and then losses. He will still have a ton of losses. Khabib ran through everyone the UFC gave him and contrary to what Connor says if you look at the combined records of his opponents pre UFC, those opponents had a winning record. In fact they won nearly 70% of their fights before fighting Khabib. Not bums who were 2-5 like Connor said. Nor was he fighting " in his father's shows". M-1 was not owned by Khabibs dad lol. He beat the best guys in 3 smaller promotions then came to UFC and made beating Porrier, Gaethje, and Connor look so easy. Olivera got a concussion fighting Porrier and rocked 3 times by Gaethje. Khabib barely got touched. Olivera was ground and pounded by Paul Felder and he already had over 10 UFC fights then. He has improved but Islam will probably destroy him.

    • @eddyandy13
      @eddyandy13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mateosmind751 I think the GOAT is whoever you think it is, you have your reasons the other guy has his…however I don’t believe that just because someone has losses means they can’t be a GOAT, that’s ludicrous. Many people who are not combatants or ever really had to fight don’t understand that in the fight game “you win some, you lose some” and that’s just life. Khabib is the only one that I can think of with almost thirty fights and a perfect record. In my eyes to be called the GOAT you have to beat the very best and I just don’t feel that’s what Khabib did, if he stayed in the fight game and continued only winning then most certainly…. Also I don’t see Islam winning the fight with Charles at all unless he edges out a decision. But Charles has the most submissions, finishes and fight of the night bonuses in UFC history so I believe he will submit him or knock him out. Either way I am very excited for the fight, the Edwards vs Usman fight shocked me so maybe there’s chance Islam will shock me too. I only see Islam winning one way, but Charles has a multitude of ways to win. In my opinion versatility trumps specialty in most cases. Idk, we shall come fight night.

    I'll be honest I think if khabib was a white guy from America who shared the same values as the westerners he would have easily been given the goat status but cuz he is a practicing Muslim from the mountains of russia people use any excuse they can to try and diminish an absolutely incredible achievement that no other fighter might achieve! Every opponent he faced since beating RDA (who became a champ after loosing to khabib) people said khabib won't be able to do the same thing to. Michael Johnson who beat poirier and Ferguson. Edson barboza, McGregor, poirier, gaethje. Remember that until Oliveira beat Ferguson no one saw him as a threat to the top 5. khabib had literally demolished that division so the hate coming at him is just not gunna stick!!
    Another thing to remember is that if khabib was given the opportunity to fight for the belt (as he had deserved) before they gave McGregor that opportunity, khabib could have already defended the belt 6/7 times atleast but that's a different story.

      But I will say, If all of his fights had been scheduled for 3 rounds, had been fought in a ring or cage, and with fewer restrictions ( legal to use elbows, etc) we would accept his “pro” record and give him more credit.
      There will always be trolls and haters but real mma fans know Khabib was great. But we won’t accept his “amateur” fights as proof or justification for being called the greatest of all time. One can’t compare what he could have done against what others have actually done.

    Khabib's career is a road map to how to have an exemplary, flawless career. Young fighters should study it if they think they have the God given ability to reach that.
    Chael's career is a road map to how to make a living in this sport to be relevant to compete at a high level and continue to be relevant after you're done competing. Every young fighter should study that.
    My favorite Little Evil was WEC getting it started fighting Cub fighting Faber getting that party started over there. That was a big contribution to MMA. It was a big deal to WEC and WEC was very much about smaller divisions the UFC didn't have or weren't pushing. Khabib is not in any GOAT discussion. He didn't clean out the division. He didn't fulfil many fights, due to his father's plan/paper champ fear of losing. His three significant wins have all been devalued through those opponents losing, 2/3 to Oliveira. Khabib retired after noting Oliveira was the greatest threat at 155. So he bailed on him, like on so many others. Khabib would have been figured out and have fallen to the right opponent for sure. I believe Charles would have done him in. Oliveira has already done more than Khabib, and displayed greater fortitude, winning when stripped or his belt and two defences, whereas they fixed the scales for heavy Khabib versus tge same opponent. Unlike Khabib, Oliveira doesn't care who, doesn't care where, he will fight.
