Guns are legal in the UK contrary to popular belief. We just have some of the strictest gun laws in the world. There is around 2.5-3m legally owned guns in the UK. Probably upward of 10m of we are including illegally owned weapons. For a population of around 66m people that's a lot of guns, especially due to the gun laws here.
The reason you don't see crimes with guns very often in the UK is due to the prison sentences that come with carrying or using a gun. Being caught with a gun in public can hold a sentence of 10+ years (you must serve atleast half your sentence) even if it's legally owned.

Friend of mine for arrested with a .38 in London got 5 for the gun and a year per bullet he got a total of 9 years
A lot of Americans don’t know this, but u can actually buy a gun in the UK if you get a licence. Yes, a lot of the guns are straight up illegally smuggled over. But there’s many over ways guns get into circulation. For instance someone with a shotgun license can buy a gun and then have it conveniently and untraceable stolen... The police can’t do shit and then you’ve got another untraced gun in the system that was legally purchased in the first place.
