Oh this is one of the best videos I’ve watched all year! I’ve been getting stumped over the past couple of years when people ask what I want for Christmas. Like you say, if I want a game I just grab it ASAP. I don’t wait for Christmas. All the little accessories that I look at but have never gotten around to buying. This is my perfect Christmas list. Thanks Daniel! 👍🏻
thank you so much for this video i think some people needed this!! we appreciate you Daniel!! nothing but love from me to the dungeon dive community. actually nothing but lover to everybody something some people have forgot.
An other great gift is A 6 rings A5 or A6 binder. You can keep your notes organised and have different types of paper, that can draw your maps and dungeons. I recently got one A5 and It's great. 😁
Thanks Daniel. This lighted up my on call duty night :) One needs to be reminded of these fun and enjoyable things in life. (That said, my work usually is not about positive things). Again, thank you for being the positive voice in the night (night-time on this side of the Atlantic).
Yo, this vid was the best. I always stress out gettin close to Xmas cuz my young adult kids are gamers of of all sorts and I always need ideas of what to get them. Cheers!
I can suggest also: - Little wooden or plastic treasure boxes. For storage of dice tokens and such or hiding inside coins or small letters or spell papers etc for your friends or kids to find while playing. I have "golden" and "silver" coins and fake gems that I put inside for my kids. Also little pouches that can put inside coins or gems and dice too.
Great point at 11:29 about the mindset shift when creating the space (in this case, the surface). There's also the very practical: our table has a hard, polished natural stone surface which makes picking up cards an exercise in frustration. A right-sized mat eliminates that issue completely for us--as you point out.
So many of these things - like the card holder and boxes/trays can really change the game play experience. Being able to set up and break down games quickly can make the difference between wanting to play something and skipping it. Never thought of using hair ties, I picked up a product called Plastibands. Same idea - they won't ruin your cards.
Metal coins. Ones that look like British coins, or fantasy coins will upgrade the many games which are sold with cardboard coins. Also, a good set of clay poker chips have many uses in board games. There is something tactilely pleasing about clacking together good clay chips.
Great stuff! My favourite gift to myself is the Dragonshield Players Companion, a really cool 15 inch square slim fold open box with a huge central area for dice rolling and dice compartments / miniature compartments. the top becomes a hard surface and has a laminated screen which you can slide oracles or whatever behind and when it closes you can put your current full sized rpg book and dice / pencils etc in it and just close the lid and put it away for your next solo RPGs session
An odd item that I think a lot of gamers would find fun and useful is something called Hugo's Magic Tape. Its a vinyl non adhesive tape that sticks to itself. Its great for keeping game boxes closed or binding a deck of cards together without rubberbands.
Sunwell thermal cup is my favorite gamer gift I use and can't live without. Seals tight, cool to the touch, keeps hot drinks hot for 3 hours and has a fairly flat bottom so sits steady and sturdy and less likely to tip and tight no spill lid. The best for having any drink while gaming without worrying.
Awesome video! I have many accessories and still am keeping an eye out for more. That stuff is as addictive as playing board games! Still haven't found an alternative to the Hold-It organizer. Boy, they found a good time to go out of stock before the end of the year.
Good topic! I love your out of the box thinking. They're probably not super popular, but I loved your forest adventure video and the cooking video. How about one on gaming snacks?
I essentially upscale all my games. I also theme-store my games. Such as all my Pandemic games are stored in an EMT bag with petri dishes and upscaled viruses. I have a problem. LoL.
Dark venture second edition pauper's ladder edition and dungeon degenerates are on the way. You damage enough my bank account😅. Kidding thanks for the list. I am a dice goblin so I concurre in your statement
Can't afford to buy games now. Car repairs, house refurbishing, washer breaking down more than i care to fix, dryer broke down, water heater needing maintenance, tem more various tasks costing more n more more money.
I buy "giant mousepads" or "desk mats" instead of board game/gaming mats. They seem to be available in similar sizes but are often listed cheaper.
1:11 dice
2:40 dice tray
3:24 card organizer
4:10 card holder
4:46 etsy
6:55 boxes
9:35 chit tray
10:40 game mat
12:00 things for creating your own 'zine
14:10 hero forge personalized figure/mini
15:27 books about gaming
cool! thank u
I'm watching this video for ideas: what gifts can I get for myself? -Toby

Yeah. They really can add to the experience.

Yeah! Agree.
Marvellous idea!! There are so many cool stuff around games themselves, in the hobby, that would make perfect gifts!
Totally!
Nice suggestions there.
I have a few small plastic storage boxes. Very useful.

That sounds great! I'll have to check on that.
Thanks, you gave me really good ideas, I would have never thought of.
I ordered a custom acrylic standee from Hero Forge and really love it. This is a great list!
Right on! Thanks.

I enjoy this kind of content. help's me build a list for others to use.

I want to do another cooking video! I'm thinking of chicken soup!
The new Magic Realms - art of fighting fantasy book is great too.
Oh! That sounds awesome!
That explains is a very cool video. Thanks
I'm sending this to all my friends with a *wink* and hope they won't all get me hair ties for my birthday.
Haha! Hint, hint!
I just got into solo rpg and the first game i bought was Four against Darkness. I can't wait to play it!
Nice! Have fun.
I essentially upscale all my games. I also theme-store my games. Such as all my Pandemic games are stored in an EMT bag with petri dishes and upscaled viruses. I have a problem. LoL.
Great ideas.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Not one Appendix M thing? Shocked! 😅
Great suggestions thank you
bought those duofire for myself 🙂 that's for the info
Hope you left some for me! ;)
The art of atari is now on my list.
That book rules! That Atari art was amazing.
What about different fancy custom chits? TTRPGs rarely come with their own chits to track various stuff.
Yeah! I was thinking of stuff like that with my Etsy rec.

Dice Goblins unite!

With any luck, inflation might return to 2016 - 2020 levels instead of 2020 - 2024 levels. That would help us out
A lot of people are struggling right now, that's a fact. Here's to better days, and better times. I sincerely hope things get better for you.
