Dream SMP: Red Festival Animatic REACTIONS! "The Fall" by SAD-ist, cosmicguts & ToKtopus...

- Dream SMP animations are incredible, and @SAD_istfied is arguably the best in the field. I'm reacting to "The Fall" by SAD-ist along with Dream SMP animations from two other fans of the Minecraft server. I'm also looking at more Minecraft animation "Villains || The Festival" by @ToKtopus and [Dream SMP] Corruption by @cosmicguts_. The Red Festival, whether looked at from @Technoblade or @WilburPlays's perspective, was an incredible event for the Dream SMP.

The Red Festival was an event on the Dream SMP where Technoblade, @TommyInnit and Wilbur Soot with some cursory help from @dream tried to take back L'Manberg. L'Manberg is a city on the Dream SMP, a Minecraft roleplay server on the Minecraft 1.16.4 version of the game. Several Minecraft animations and animatics have been made about the event.
You all recommended to me SAD-ist's "The Fall" as well is TokTopus and cosmicguts as some incredible Dream SMP animators. I also wanted to check out @LateAugust and their video Innocence but I think it spoils part of the Dream SMP for me that I haven't seen yet. Should I do these again? He doesn't know he did it since he didn`t know where the button was, and he (kind of failed) a water bucket thing as the weather started spreading and therefore took the button with it.

17:15 look at Wilbur's eyes when Schlatt says "Soot" they kind of shatter. Every single clip in the animatic that takes place after this one will has shattered eyes in
If you're going to be looking at more fan-made stuff once you've caught up to November 16th, Kanaya, Precious Jewel Amor, and Amanda Fagan have all produced a bunch of awesome theme songs for the DreamSMP characters. Kanaya has their songs organized into seasons 1 and 2 of the smp, Please Don't Make me Choose and Back to the Days by Amanda Fagan don't spoil anything past the 16th, and everything except for Theseus, letter to a dead friend, and letter to a dead friend/letter to Mr. President by Precious Jewel Amor don't spoil season 2. I just think the songs are great and it'd be cool to see a reaction to them.

4:57 as someone who is super interested in both writing and art, this drives me insane when imagining a book series or tv show based on this series. I'm actually planning an animatic of my own which I'm hoping will cover the entire pogtopia arc, and I don't know what I can do about that situation aside from just ignore it. I've considered the idea of an AU, if we're taking the 3 lives thing literally, where each person gets 3 deaths, but that also feels like a bit of a copout to me, so idk.
You said "Nobody was trying to save Tubbo." Although I don't believe that is the case, during the Festival they messaged and reassured Tubbo. The didn't send one message to Techno. He was trying to stall and wait for them to step in yet they never did. Technoblade had no clue what to do ,so he decided that killing Quackity and Jschlatt would be the best option (thous sacrificing Tubbo.) I think that Tommy and Wilbur shouldn't have relied so heavily on a lone man who was surrounded by the enemy. It was hard for him to make a reasonable decision because of the eyes aimed toward him. The truth was the fact that nobody cared about Technoblade enough to reassure and guide him leading to their downfall.
Nobody saw him as person, just a weapon to aim at others.

I think a video you should watch is Dream SMP full family Tree by kindacoral I think It has no spoilers and it explains the relationships in the SMP
The animators don’t make them 100% die they just get really hurt and they bandage them and the characters slowly heal overtime, so that’s how they play that off.
Like at the end of the first anamatic it has Tommy, niki, and Tubbo but Tubbo was bandaged :)
Ahhhh that makes sense. So it's basically like a severe injury. Like getting arrow'D in the chest severe lol
@@YoBGS yeah, you will see in a lot of animatics (including SAD-ist’s) that Tubbo will have very large burns on his body, usually reaching up the neck and down the arms. Though, fatal injuries such as stab wounds won’t be as present, normally just a minimal scar or nothing at all.

Her animations specifically function as epic advertising for the SMP! Other animations are still fabulous and add so much to the community and promote the series as well, there can be not doubt. The difference though is in how SAD-ist structures them to be like movie trailers. She has a very good understanding of music and sound design, camera angles and panning, transitions, and pacing. All that on top of great animating ability.

@@YoBGS If you will watch more SAD-ist animations you will notice that Tehno's hair slowly starts to regrow. In the newest one he even has a litte braid at the side of his head.
Tubbo isn't necessarily drawn as being younger than tommy, it's more that he's shorter with a more generally childish design, particularly in the roundness of his face and eyes. I think it's really fitting for his character, personally.
You'll be fine to watch Innocence once you get past The Grand Finale.
Speaking of which, I am once again recommending Tommy's video for that. Wilbur's video leaves out the actual ending, and Techno's doesn't show anyone else's perspective, so you miss some important parts of the story (and believe me, you don't want to miss anything from November 16th). As far as I'm aware, Tommy's video is the only one that includes everything.
That being said, he should definitely see Wilbur's point of view of the Finale, as there's some incredible acting and I don' think Tommy shows that.
Imo, Wilbur’s video of the finale is better and more complete and then it’s worth it to switch to Tommy’s PoV because it leaves out everything that happens while Wil’s doing his thing. Wilbur’s video really sets a serious tone fit for a finale while Tommy’s is more lighthearted in comparison. Honestly not much happens after the end of Wilbur’s video because they (SPOILERS)
Just kill the withers and have a lot of non-canon deaths. There’s a bit where they talk afterwards but it’s not that important.

There's this little thing in SAD-ist animation The Fall that was missed because of being a few frames and well in the videos you watched to catch up on the Dream SMP storyline it wasn't included, but at 18:34 you can see Fundy burning the L' Manburg's flag, which was an event only recorded by Eret and Niki as far as I know, but that event does include Fundy bretraying Wilbur and he starts working with Jschlatt.
Fun fact: techno still uses swords because they have a higher DPS than axes. He brings an axe to disable shields though.
Once your shield is disabled, sword is more deadlier than an axe
So it seems there has been a missunderstanding with Willbur and the button, he didn't press it not because he didn't want to and stopped, but because he could not find the button
"Young man learns actions have consequences" would be accurate if he does learn things have consequences, but doesn't really learn that lesson. He has gotten close, but it's just in one ear and out the other
Tommy’s getting closer and closer to figuring it out imo, because of all the characters, he’s the one realising that he’s not that good a person and trying to improve.
Edit: Thought I should include the fact that Tommy always faces the consequences of his actions head-on (even when he probably shouldn’t) whereas Wilbur runs away from them. They’re foils of each other.

Well considering that there are likely periods of time where no one has been on the server, I'd say it's a little less, maybe 45-ish...Still a surprising amount of time, though.

To your point about no one showing the actual events of the festival- it's not about the events, it's what they mean to the people they effect. We all saw the events of the festival, and there is no need to rehash them in artwork. But what's INTERESTING is the how the festival effected the relationships within Pogtopia. That's what's not so easily drawn. It's subjective, and therefore, makes for good art. Because anyone can paint an apple and everyone else will recognize it as such, but it takes imagination and talent to paint an apple that could be seen as a pear or a pomegranate from certain angles. I don't know of that made any sense. But that's how I see it. Animatic makers prefer to highlight emotion rather than action, which makes it so much more engaging for the viewer than watching an animated fight scene.
You should listen to Tubbo’s song if you get the chance, even if you don’t react to it. It does not have any spoilers.

@@dhanos282 I think you forgot his 1400 win bedwars streak, or the fact that he has won over 200,000 games of skywars, or that he consistently got the most points individually in minecraft Monday, or that he held the record in Minecraft Championships for most kills in many different games, including battle box, skyblockle, the hunger games type minigame, and he only lost those records because he didn’t play in the last championship. He also didn’t play in the first few as well. There’s a reason that so many TH-camrs respect his skill and are, frankly, afraid of going up against Technoblade in a 1 v 1, or even a 5 v 1. I’d say Technoblade is actually pretty good at pvp.

As an artist that did SOME fanart we can be really creative with the 3 Canon lives thing! Some people signify it including scars from only the Canon deaths, like tubbo having burn marks from the firework(f to the boi) , i personally put the 3 hearts somewhere hidden in the design! Making designs from the mc skins has been so fun tbh

Something I’d like to note about C!Tommy: Tommy cares about his brother so much, he’d rather have an insane Wilbur than no Wilbur at all. That’s one of the reasons he hasn’t left.
Also, it was scripted from the very beginning for C!Wilbur to go insane if C!Schlatt won. Wilbur’s said that there was an alternate script for if POG won, and I forgot the exact details but I know that there definitely still wouldn’t be peace on the SMP.
C!Tubbo’s commonly portrayed ‘younger’ because first of all, he’s shorter than Tommy by quite a bit. And second of all, it’s because of his character’s innocence. C!Tubbo IS older than C!Tommy, but between the two, C!Tommy’s more mature.
(For clarification on the family tree: In Dream SMP canon, Philza has 3 sons (in order of age): Wilbur, Tubbo, and Tommy. Some consider Techno the oldest son, but the Wiki doesn’t. Wilbur and Tommy are biologically related to Phil while they ‘found Tubbo on the side of the road’.)

Tommy already has his own thing: the discs. The reason Tubbo looks younger is bc he is physically shorter than Tommy (he's around 6'3). And as an artist I can tell you the reason they don't put in much of the festival is bc there's fighting. There's no story to tell there. If u were to animate it itll just be fight scenes (techno killing everyone) so there's not much of a story TO tell (bc thats what SAD-ist wants to do and does). Other than lines they say during wars n stuff.

Tubbo is more of a kid in the story, the comical releaf. Even in battle, he is drawn having fun vs tommy who will be going head to head with someone powerful for instance in the NEW SADIST ANIMATION
I'd love to see you listen to some of Kanaya's songs, some contain spoilers, but like Techno's song "Violence" and dream's song "The marionette" are simply amazing!
About your comment about Tubbo being depicted as younger than Tommy even though the opposite is true. I think it’s a matter of Tubbo having a more naive charm compared to Tommy. Tubbo’s (the character) traits do seem to reflect a much more stereotypical childish persona but when you look at his thought process and how he handles more serious situations his maturity shines. In later arcs it becomes more evident that Tubbo is more mature when it comes to everything. Sorry if this is vague or is miss-worded I’m trying not to spoil anything and English isn’t my first language

Re: the debate of FitMC or Technoblade
The difficulty that I’m seeing with the argument that you’re making is that it assumes that as soon as Tommy and Wilbur entered exile, that Wilbur wanted to blow up Manberg. However, at the beginning of the exile, Wilbur and Tommy both solely wanted to remove Schlatt’s administration via pvp-style warfare, a method which is much more befitting to Technoblade’s skill set. It was not until almost a month later when Wilbur’s descent into madness truly began to manifest itself visibly and that he decided that if he couldn’t have his country that no one could. Wilbur did not want to destroy L’Manberg before his villain arc began and by the time that that happened, Techno was already on the server.
edit: (I realized something right after I commented this) Much of what caused Wilbur’s villain arc was a growing sense of paranoia. He was increasingly paranoid of people knowing his plans, people trying to support Pogtopia, even of his own spy and in several ways even of Tommy. With that much paranoia, even if FitMC had come to him personally offering to help him to set up tnt and destroy L’Manberg, Wilbur likely wouldn’t accept the help and still would have acted on his own. In fact, Wilbur did act on his own, even with Technoblade on the server. He was the only one who knew where the button was; he was the one who laid down the tnt; he was the one that was going to press the button. At the very least, Technoblade was a person that was already on the server and was willing to help Wilbur cause chaos regardless of what happened, even if the end result of the festival was not what the end result he had wanted.
And besides, who needs a demolition’s expert when you have Checkov’s gun waiting for you to find it and pull the trigger.
(Outside of Meta, it also likely has to do with the fact that neither Tommy or Wilbur seem to have interacted at length with FitMC, whereas they both regularly collab and interact with Technoblade, making him a first choice for people that they would like to have on the server. Not to mention the whitelist.)
Anyways, just wanted to give my two cents in this debate. I’m not sure if you’ll see it given all the other comments but I just wanted to give my view of things as someone that knows the full story of the smp so far as well as spends far too much time analyzing character actions and motivations.

oof this is VERY late but good comment! i feel like the fandom often overlook the period between wilbur and tommy's exile, and wilbur's descent into madness, and it causes a huge misunderstanding when people analyse wilbur's intentions and make him more villainous than he actually is
Don’t watch sad ist most recent vid also i recommend for the battle of manberg you watch Wilbur and techno as those are the two most important sides you can watch tommy but I definitely recommend Wilbur

I wouldn't watch Innocence yet, as theres stuff you haven't caught up with in it. Once you've watched up to Wilburs, Tommy's or Techno's pov of the 'Finale', you'll be fine to watch Innocence!
tommy allowed techno to join pogtopia in hopes of gaining a powerful ally that could also train them to fight, revolution-style, which was waaaaay different than wilbur's idea to straight-up blow up everything and leave the land and memories made there to rot. tommy's goal was 'take back l'manburg' while wilbur's goal was 'destroy l'manburg'. the decision to plant TNT was 100% wilbur's idea, which is why tommy is painted as the more heroic one in these animatics, haha
In my opinion, I believe Schlatt is acutally a good character, he's just seen as evil. Because he did what was just, he exiled criminals from the land which makes total sense! :)
I'd go more into detail about his character since he's my favourite to analyze, but don't wanna spoil anything for you, mate! Fun seeing you watch this series, keep up the great work.
He's more lawful evil. He is evil. He shows consistently that he is very callous and uncaring. And he made no effort to make manburg a better place to live. In fact he made it worse by bullying and abusing the citizens. He does though follow the law. Problem is he makes the law.

Ok, so recommendations for your watch list. You should definitely check out some of the people who right original songs for the SMP. I would recommend Kanaya's "I'll let it burn," and "Us against the world." I'd recommend Moderately Mediocre's "Election Day." Amanda Fagan has one called "Please don't make me choose" that I think is really good. If you want more artists and potential songs, definitely check out Oh No He's Here's first two albums of fan songs. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE THIRD ONE. THOSE SONGS HAVE SPOILERS.
For actual episodes of the SMP, you may have to watch one VOD, as there's not an edited down version of it that I can find, and it includes some incredibly major plot points. The VOD is "Quackity betrays Jshlatt on the Dream SMP" on the Tommyinnit VODs channel. For actual episodes, watch "The Wilbur Soot Dream SMP finale," as well as Tommy's "I fought Technoblade and Dream grand finale." The events for the first half will be the same, but they diverge drastically, and you will need both perspectives to get the full story.

In the Sleepy bois inc family dynamic, Techno is the oldest, Wilbur is 2minutes younger than Techno, Tommy is the middle child and Tubbo is younger by a few months and was adopted by Phil.
Can you also check out the musicians of dream SMP like kanaya , precious jewel amor and the unknown I highly recommend precious jewel amor's tubbo song it is based on story line till festival

The corruption animatic is absolutely one of my favorites because the drama of the colors and the dramatic black shading. Also those teeth on the expressions, absolutely pristine, it's so very expressive. Thank you for reacting to that one.
Also Sadist is amazing. I remember watching one of her hamilton animations (I think it was a winter's ball) and it was stunning how smooth it was. Also really cool seeing artists you like pop into fandoms you like. I think it's awesome that people see sadist's work is amazing but what I want to point out is how good at cinematography she is. Her animation isn't just smooth, she does a brilliant job at storytelling as well to add to her skilled animating skills
I legit think because of the serious nature of the subject matter, like it threw me off, honestly. I loved these videos but I didn't feel like my normal bubbly self because I kept hearing "THEN LET'S BE VILLAINS!" over and over haha

There is a reasons why Wilbur didn’t blow lmanburg up but you’d have to watch tommy or Wilbur’s perspective since they had a talk that you can only see from their perspective

When you get to the finale, I really really suggest you watch Wilbur’s video first. There are spoilers there for things in the other videos and it just makes more sense watching Wilbur’s first
