Imran Khan’s stance has been that the current PDM government is illegal as it was forced on the people of Pakistan by a foreign agenda. If he now accepts the advice of the Supreme Court to go back to the parliament, it would mount to accepting the PDM’s government’s legitimacy.
The other factor that we must consider is that those who facilitated the imposition of the PDM government have been criticized in more than one way by IK and his followers (practically majority of the population). PTI’s posture now is not just ousting the PDM but also cut the wings of the facilitators to size. It is very obvious that PDM would not cooperate on this issue for obvious reasons.
In my opinion the struggle of the past six months will be negated should IK decide to go back to the parliament.
By now the facilitators of PDM are well aware that it will not be possible to dismiss public opinion. The only course they could take is to use force. If a few lives are lost (God forbid) then internationally PDM as well as the boots will be viewed as criminals.
IK is right to demand a free and fair election without much delay for reasons of political and economic stability.
