Hi as a older English lady, my family just bought me a new TV I founds walks in London place I used to work or go when I was young. Then realised people like you do walks in other cities. I have sat here on a wet Saturday afternoon and I have been transported to somewhere I have always wanted to go. I really enjoyed watching and will be finding more of your walks. Thank you so much I really enjoyed it.

Hey there, I'm a New Zealander living in Melbourne, Australia and I'd like to say man thank you for your time to put this all together. I enjoyed every step of this almost 2hr walk with you narrating the whole way.. it gave me a perspective on a section of NYC that is so stacked with history. I'd had thoughts of visiting NYC in the past but kinda settled for the fact I may never get to experience it and accepted viewing it from either a postcard image, movie or whatever lol. I think that perhaps if the world overcomes this pandemic and international travel opens up for the rest of the world safely? I may consider a trip to the Big Apple to experience this actual walk in real life myself.. though I won't be holding my breath! Anyway well done for your efforts and again thanks also for the street info stuff to watch out for. Now I'll checkout Brooklyn. Action Kid you are awesome bro cheers!

When I was twelve, and thirteen, I'd ride my bicycle every afternoon after school down Broadway from 23rd (turning from Fifth) to go to 71 Wall Street, to pick up the NYSSA analyst meeting tapes from NYSSA, drop off the previous day's transcripts, ride back uptown, then Mom's typists would come in for one tape each, come back the next afternoon with the transcripts, Mom would copy them (we had a Xerox machine in our home), collate the copies (sometimes I did that), put it together, and I'd repeat the next day. I'd make $10 per run, her messenger service used to charge 16 and take two hours to get there on a Friday. I also didn't charge for the round trip so I saved her a fortune plus I made 5 on midtown runs. About $200 a week at age thirteen. Those were GOOD times for my family. Dad had just died and Mom kept me in prep school.

I lived on the UES and yes there were lots of six-floor walkups from before the elevator era. I lived in a hi-rise with elevators but many of my friends did not (I wasn't a snob used to play stickball in the street etc.).

@@TIMBOWERMAN New York Society of Securities Analysts. They had several hour-long meetings every day after the market closed, and Mom's service used to transcribe them. They were worth about $75,000 a year in billing when we lost that client it became very difficult to stay in NYC so we left in 1986.

Love your videos! The thing that most bothers me when walking through big cities like this is when you get a family of 3 or 4 who each take up two seats on the subway walking side by side blocking the entire sidewalk. When you say something about it trying to get by, they look at you like you're rude and they don't see anything wrong with what they are doing.

literally went thru this last weekend. Family of four literally stood in front of a hotel and blocked sidewalk with no room for others. One guy brush past the teenage kids just to get by, and yet the family didnt reorient to give room. I had to scream excuse me at their stupid asses to clear the way. I am pretty sure they blocked the path again after I left. No common sense. Being from out of town is not an excuse for lack of social etiquette.

Having grown up in Queens, and having had little children in tow, the restroom situation in NYC was particularly hostile to kids. Department stores were the best option. Public restrooms were horrible. Restaurants were ok, if you ate there. Surprisingly some hotels were quite accommodating, the Plaza hotel on 59th and 5th, was the best. As fancy as it was the the staff was always welcoming and would direct us to the restrooms.

Another winner AK, I love the informal history lesson, and the uc &p details of each street and district. It's all sort of familiar to me from movie scenes, and, news reports, as a Brit looking in. But, the laid back presentation of detail is so easy to absorb the facts become entertainment, and enjoyable. Tell me, are you a " Nu Yokker" or what? Your consideration, respect for others, and caring nature, serve you well, and are in direct opposition to the stereotype. Rock on AK you are one of a kind..

The Woolworth building is so decorative in the lobby that they had to stop the tourists photographing it.
Too many tourists. You can see it on google images.
1:36:39 There is a piano above the doorway inside the Mcdonald's. Take a close look and you can see a piece of it from outside. Sometimes there is a professional piano player there.
edit; it looks like they changed it to a DJ booth.
The bull was made in the Arturo Di Modica workshop @ 54 Crosby St. I was walking down the street one day and saw it on the sidewalk outside his workshop. The place is gone and a store is there now. Nobody had seen it yet, it hadn't been put on display on B'way. (note I'm not sure of the exact address but it was on the right side of the street going south.)

Good video. Haven't been to NY in a very, very long time (there was no such thing as neon video screens back then, LOL). Nice to have the narration to know what we're seeing, what to look for, to look out for. Looked up the Fultun Center and we want to go there. We also want to check out the tourist attractions at the end of the video. THANKS!!

the old buldings have so much character, the new ones are soulless, like they can't teach proper architecture in schooles anymore, they have all the heads put together yet they can't make more spectacular buildings than the early XX century

Your comments on the dangerous maneuverings of pedestrians in this video made me wonder how many accidents actually happen. Not during any of my experiences walking about the city, nor the numerous videos of yours I've watched, have I seen an actual accident; plenty of near misses but never a collision. It's amazing there aren't more issues. I'm wondering how many incidents you've witnessed in all your time on the streets? To answer your location question at 21st & Broadway: The Flatiron District is bounded by 14th Street, Union Square and Greenwich Village to the south; the Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) and Chelsea to the west; 23rd Street and Madison Square (or NoMad) to the north; and Park Avenue South and Gramercy Park to the east. (Wikipedia) ***Snow is coming*** Thank you. :-)

I’ve witnessed too many close calls to count, and multiple collisions too. Thanks for the information on the Flatiron District!

Was there one week, witnessed 2 collisions. First was between pedestrian and van backing up slowly, second was a bicycle crash into a taxi in the middle of a intersection. I’m not counting the insurance scam I saw as well lol.

Fab. You covered parts I had to give a miss to along Broadway to Union during my trip just three weeks before your filming in November 2020, which was a real delight for me to watch. An so impressed you pointed out the shrine church of St Elizabeth Ann Seton which because of time, I had to skip as well (to get to Liberty 🗽 why else?)... thanks for the narration throughout.
