HAMBURG PORT ANNIVERSARY 2023 Ships on the Elbe, at the Landungsbrücken and at the Überseebrücke on May 5, 2023.
It's the harbor birthday in Hamburg again and of course there are a lot of ships to see, especially at the landing stages and the Überseebrücke.
I was at the Hamburg harbor birthday on Saturday from around 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Of course I also watched the tugboat ballet. And then there were a lot of ships to see at the landing stages and the Überseebrücke. For the most part it was possible to look at the various ships free of charge, including the customs cruiser Borkum and other police and customs ships. But naval ships could also be visited, including the frigate Hamburg, coastal protection ships of the Danish Naval Home Guard as well as sailing ships, steam ships and saloon ships. The sea rescue cruiser Hermann Marwede was also moored at the Überseebrücke and could be visited.
In addition, you could of course also take a harbor tour on the Elbe on numerous ships. If the harbor tour was too expensive for you, you could of course also use the HADAG Elbe ferries. Holders of HVV monthly tickets or the Germany ticket could use the HADAG ferries free of charge. I also took a short ride on the Elbe ferry, although it was a really short ride from the Landungsbrücken just one pier further to the Elbphilharmonie. From there we walked along the Jan Fedder Promenade, past the Niederhafen, back to the Überseebrücke. Because there were other ships there to look at.
The weather on Saturday was quite cloudy most of the time, but there was no rain.
