- This animation features an almost representation of the collision that happened back in 1989 where a SP Freight train derailed off a sharp curve into a set of houses on Duffy Street in San Bernardino, CA. The train consisted 5 crew members that were carrying heavy loads of non-evaporative materials in hopper wagons.

This crash was also the beginning of the end for the Southern Pacific Railway
2 engines had fully working inependant brakes the leading engine and one of the helper engines

The speed limit at the curve where the derailment occurred was 30 MPH. The train was believed to be going 105 MPH when it crashed (3.5 times the speed limit). That's what happens when you don't have enough working brakes on a train going down Cajon Pass.

Actually, the black box said it got up to 110 mph, and was doing 100 as the train derailed

The sent 2 engines on the back of the train. Only 3 people dead 3 other were injured. The y were carrying nontoxic fertilizer, but after the derailment they had to check the gas pipes and it exploded due to a gas leak.

This happened close to where I live. Apparently the fire was so big that it was visible from Fontana. Today there's only 3 houses rebuilt there

SP SD40T-2 8278 and SD45T-2 9340 are switchers on Norfolk Southern with all 4 others 7551 has been rebuilt repaired repainted and renumbered.
No not at all. 8278, 7551, 7549, 9340 and one of the helper units were all scrapped. Only 1 of the 5 units survived the wreck. Whoever told you this?

There were actually *_six_** locomotives* for that train that morning -- *four on the head end,* and *two as helpers.*
All four of the the head end engines *were scrapped on site* while the helper engines *only sustained minor damage and were repaired* in the weeks after the disaster. S.P. *EMD SD40T-2 **#8317* was eventually *retired in May of 2000* and was later *scrapped in 2013* while S.P. *EMD SD45R **#7543* was eventuay sold to *M.R.S. Logistica* in Brazil, where it was rebuilt with *5' 6" gauge trucks,* reclassified as an *SD40-3,* I believe, and renumbered *5313-1* and is *still in service as of 2020.*

@@personal9146 4 people were killed, 2 of them from the train, and 2 others in the houses and then while cleaning up the accident there was an explosion which killed 2 more people totaling to 6 dead and 7 injured

Correction: while the real train did have 6 locomotives, 4 of them were on the front end pulling, and the other 2 were being used as helpers on the rear.
Also, all 4 head end locomotives were destroyed in the real wreck, while the helpers survived.
Also, the head end engineer was the only head end crew member to survive in the real wreck
3 crews made out alive 1 on the head end and 2 on the back and 2 crews died on the 3rd locomotive
@@veniciocaldas1514 No, engineer Frank Holland just barely survived enough to crawl out of the wrecked SP 8278, while his brakeman Mark Edwards and 3rd headend engineer Alan Reece were killed, with the helper crew and locomotives escaping any real injury or damage. It's honestly a miracle that the train wreck itself didn't cause a fire from the 4 ruined locomotives

Correction, in 1989 there was a train that was speeding in the Cajon pass. That was the first ever train that derailed, and was a runaway in the San Bernardino crashes

The sp sd45R #7551 aka the 2nd loco was fully dead when when this happened.

from what i heard, the air brakes were completely burned up, turning to molten steel, from the intense heat and friction after lawrence pulled the emergency brake cord, and leaving the wheels glowing red hot, even when the NTSB arrived 12 hours after the crash, from the train's eventual top speed of 110 MPH
That many locomotives for such a small line of cars.

This video was intentionally an attempt of trying my best to see what it would look like In Minecraft animation form but not very accurately. I’ve been taking a break from TH-cam over the holidays until more content will come by until 2022.

I’m going to correct Duffy Street in a remastered version of a separate newer video that corrects these flaws with more graphical and scene enhancements, including the Train models. However, this will take time for me to make all this happen.

That’s a lot of explosions.... and is a lot to animate.... obviously I can try to talk to him about making an animation on the super 8. I’m doing an animation about the Crazy 8’s incident remake because of some mistake I did in the original
6:20 , I have some criticisms, the number of coal cars on the train does not match the original. In fact, the number of carriages in the incident was 69 cars while in this animation there were 20 cars. So what do you think?
What I think my reasons are, is during the making of this animation, I had to notch it down to 20 instead of 69 because that size of a number of objects in the program would've caused immense lag and could've crashed mine-imator the software I was using for this... resulting only 20 cars which is not really a mistake due to the immense size it would've taken..
Next time the animator will make it more accurate in the next crash 1994

There was an mistake there were 6 engines at the front but it is supposed to be 4 engines at the front and 2 at the back (it’s Oke)
That's been a known mistake ever since I began Minecraft Animation as this was the earliest video in the channel's history when mistakes were more apparent throughout my uploads however, If I recreated these now, It would take too much time and I would move on and recreate other stuff in Minecraft.
The crash is unrealistic but other then that a very well made animation.
This was my first attempt on animating physics and isn’t entirely perfect but I try my best.

Just an fyi for the creator, the curve isn’t that sharp, the last cars zigzagged but stayed on top of the tracks and the train had 4 locomotives on the front end ant 2 more that were hitched onto the rear in Albon California at the bottom of the east side grade.
And also, the 2nd locomotive on the front which was originally the leader was dead and couldn’t start so they borrowed on out of SP’s Mojave rail yard in Mojave, California.
And 1 other minor detail, during the cleanup, a backhoe hit the Calnev pipeline that originated from Colton and ended in Las Vegas and when it hit a spark from something blew the entire area up and burned for 2 days

These structures are based on a neighborhood in Duffy Street in San Bernardino, CA United States of America. It is not a full replica of the neighborhood because it would have been too big and made a mini version of it.

This upload was so long ago and is the oldest one still getting constructively criticized as I am going to do a remaster eventually more accurately to reduce the amount of constructive criticism.
