This video compares the following Sun producing plants:
- Sunflower
- Twin Sunflower
- Primal Sunflower
- Sun-shroom
- Moonflower
Although Sun Bean is discussed in the video, he is not compared to other plants because his method of producing Sun is different from the others. He produces Sun from damage inflicted on zombies.
POINTS SYSTEM
- A plant's position in a category is equal to the points they get. For example:
2nd position = 2 points
- The plant with the fewest points wins
MAKES METRIC
The plants produce Sun every 34s (according to PvZ Wiki) so I changed the units to Sun/minute to make the numbers a bit more palatable
MOONFLOWER
Moonflower [1] = One Moonflower planted alone
Moonflower [2] = Two Moonflowers planted side by side
Moonflower [3] = Three Moonflowers planted together i.e. one tile radius of each other
Moonflower [4] = Four Moonflowers planted together
Moonflower [1] and Moonflower [4] were separated to highlight the difference in their abilities easily. There isn't much reason to use Moonflower [1] in the game.
Moonflower with Mint:
Moonflower [1] produces 50 Sun per 34s which is double her normal rate
Moonflower [4] produces 150 Sun per 34s. The units were changed to "per 5 seconds" to match the other plants' rates
Moonflower [4] Stats:
Moonflower [4] will not always cost 200 Sun to plant or require 40 seconds to recharge. It was a simplification that helped make the comparison meaningful. Even if Moonflower [4] was given the same cost and recharge numbers as Moonflower [1], she would still end up in the same overall position.
SUN-SHROOM:
With Enlighten-mint, Sun-shroom requires 1 second to grow from small to big and then he produces Sun at a rate of 110 per 4 seconds

Best Choice for Bonus Objectives - Play Level 1 All day And Chose 3 Chilis. FIRST, Choose Zombie PF Perk.Choose These Plants:
Reinforcemint, Blover, Shine vine, Primal Potato Mine, Explode-O-Nut, And Gumnut.
Plant Shine Vines to The Power Tiles.Then Plant 2 Explode-o-nut on the First Zombie and Use Gumnut To stun the next one when you have PF use it in the shine vines and Remove them after the PF.Then Just Use Reinformint/Blover All the Time By Recharging The Mint from the PF and then your Done!!

For me I just play all the levels until I can’t beat a difficulty or level. Then I use my plants from the zen garden to beat zomboss on 1 jalapeño. I just like going easy mostly with infinite lawnmowers. After that I just use my remaining fuel for extra coins in the levels.

If you use Shadow stuff I recommend MF all the way. Just put it in the second row so that it boosts 10 other plants

Despite her cons, Moon Flower is my prefered sun plant in most situations, her and dusk lobber are my choices mainly when going onto a arena match, the tactic won me plenty of arena games

The gum health is big + fast recharge + plant food effect make all zombies stuck ( even gargantuers , mecha zombie , shovel zombie and maybe even torch zombie + the gum doesn't transfer to sushi or sheep ) in my opinion if i am going against trouble zombies I will use it otherwise primal wall nut is enough

I don't see why or when I would choose sun flower over moon flower. Once you have placed 2 or more moon flowers, they are just better.

I think Twin is underrated as hell. People always say how "bad" it is cuz of its cost, but if you can get down 15 Lightning Reeds, you can get down 5 Twin Sunflowers

I always use Sunshroom. Early Plantfood and it delivers more then the primal sunflower as that one generates slower (and is harder to spam as it is also more expensive)

I always use primal sunflower in almost everything because it produces more than sunflower has, has more recharge time than twin sunflower, doesn’t take donkey ages to be useful like sunshroom, and doesn’t need other primal sunflowers like moonflower. It helps me in a lot of levels despise being 75 sun, also it really helps if you have gold bloom on your side, not only you have an option to plant more than 3 primal sunflowers but you have a bigger defense thanks to having more sunflowers at the start of the game and a few defensive plants
sunshroom is a good plant if is a long level, but if its a quick level, the best option is primal sunflower, also 50 seconds its not really that much when you compare to big wave beach day 30
Sun shroom essentially become the same thing as the primal sunflower but lower cost if you pair it up with solar mint.
The thing is, it takes ages for sunshroom to be at least at an equal level than Primal Sunflower, whole Primal sunflower is a quick and reliable source of sun, sun shroom is an ok plant until it grows, sure you can use sun shroom in long levels, but even then you might need one plant food or two to survive a huge onslaught of zombies while primal sunflower is reliable without plant food, I will say that Primal sunflower has helped me a whole lot in many levels, even in hard levels like big wave beach and modern day, but I don’t say that sun shroom isn’t a good source of sun, but kind of a slow one, and not just that even primal sunflower doesn’t need help from gold bloom when Infi-nut’s ability helps you stall early in the game for more sun, you could do the same for sun shroom, but it is still risky for fast paced levels
Also, many people might not have solar mint (like me for not playing the game in a long time) and that still puts sun shroom in a low place than primal sunflower in my opinion
@@carlosemilio385 ik primal sunflower is more reliable compared to sun shroom. But if u have slar mint with sun shroom its overall better because they cost cheaper and give u lots of sun.
I use the sun shroom for arenas, but outside of it, I always use primal sunflower, and here’s why:
1. The start of a level is where you need your sun, getting that first line of def up is the most important part of the game, and at the beginning, sun shrooms don’t produce the needed sun to prepare for midgame.
2. It has a low cool down time; twin sunflowers, moon flowers, and sun beams take time to refresh, and as afore mentioned, the start of a level is when you get that first line of defense up.
3. Its space efficient, sunflowers don’t give as much sun as primal sunflowers, and you need 1.5x as many to supply as much sun as a line of primal sunflowers.
4. Something not mentioned in the video; it comes in primal packs, home to the primal peashooter, the primal wall-nut, and the -dare I say best plant-, the primal potato mine! Except love shroom, i use every plant in the primal deck (primal peashooter gives enough KB for units to be blown away by the blower). This leads to a more upgraded sunflower when I focus all my diamonds to one seed type.
5. This video assumes that the sun shroom stays alive throughout the level. As someone who has beat every level, including the hard levels before they were moved to 100 gem level packs, I don’t like the risk of having a sun shroom go down, it leaves your sun production vulnerable until the shroom goes back to 75 sun again. If I do, however, have an abundant supply of plant food, i will use sun shroom, because I don’t have to wait for it to mature, however, later levels in the campaign rarely give plant food in amounts larger than 1 or 2.
Also, I completed the rescue the gold bloom mission, and golly, having an additional 375 sun at the beginning of the level on to of your starting sun is why I can afford so many primal sunflowers. Some of these reasons might not apply to you because of this, however, you can use a pierce-mint at the start of a level and sell the spike rocks to get a similar amount of sun, however, the cool down of ~48 secs is longer than the gold bloom’s ~32 secs.

Personally I use Sun-Shroom and Shine Vine in my set-ups with Enlighten-mint to speed the production up and stall the zombies for time.

By the way if you plant shine vine in the pre stage and you wait a bit (boost time for about 15 sec) at the start of the match he will give you insta sun. :)

Twin Sunflower costs 25 more that’s why moonflower is better
The moonflower with four is wrong. Even though, it costs 200 for it to be powered fully, you get FOUR of them.
The effiency of moonflower isnt only sun prodution but offensive boosting as well,the conceive/shadow plants are one of the strongest plant,anf thier nature make is so they have to be in cluster, which in the end will boost even moonflower since you really just need any shadow plants in the visinity to get the boost, went you used moonflower you are going for a agreesive playstyle.

I do not agree. Moonflower is NOT worse than twin sunflower. If you use 2 collums, moonflower is the BEST. Because, she is just a twin sunflower that cost 75 sun less. That means you save 750 sun if comparing to 2 collums of twin sunflowers.
i currently use primal sunflower, however it is slow to produce sun, sun shroom is good because its cheap, sun bean and fume shroom (with plant food) is very useful you can get a lot of sun. that's all I can say.
Personally what I do is moonflower by default (low cost, but high potential so once i have my 2 rows its the second best sun producer), just goldbloom if there is limited space (sometimes twin sunflower depending on the circumstances) and sunshroom if its either a boosterama or a week where we get tons of plantfood, honorable mention to primal sunflower who would be my default if moonflower didn't exist

Note that even though sun shroom rivals Primal sunflower, he is supposed to be an equivalent of normal sunflower
A normal sunflower costs 50 sun, but also gives 50 sun. In addition to sun falling from the sky, you’ll be left with a profit of 50 sun
Sun shroom on the other hand is used on nights where there’s no sun. So for let’s say a fully grown sun shroom, he gives 25 more sun while costing 25 less sun. This adds up to a profit of also 50 sun

Yeah I have to admit the level 3 challenges are brutal for someone without the right setup/premium plants. If it wasn't Pokra, it was the peanut, blover and reinforcement combo that carried me. Kinda hilarious considering how easy Zomboss gets wrecked on all levels, the zombies on level 3 are the main problem.

I tend to wait until I get the 75 starting sun upgrade, wait for the first sun drop, twin sunflower, first sign of sun, place a potato mine then wait until I can keep building up the twin sunflowers (another potato mine for next zombie) until I can actually start using plants

No kidding I used magnifying grass in all levels with 2 rows of twin sunflowers and won easily and for the plan your defense levels can be dealt with lasers beams and wall nuts

I honestly think primal sunflower is the best, because on lvl one it already produces large suns by itself without having to wait a long time to set up. I use primal sunflower in endless and it works better than every option. Sun shroom is debatitly the best sun producer, if you have enlighten-mint, but besides that, only thing it sells me on is the cost.
Well, the Moonflower can be with other shadow plants to power it and them up. But this video is primarily on sun producers, so I can't really make that argument.
Can you make a updated version with sun vine , gold bloom , gold leaf , solar sage , sun shroom , sun dew tangler , and finally a sun producer plant that has 100 sun cost is yellow / like a tomato / binds and stuns zombies after it dies and gives sun .
It's always moonflower for me. No not in dark ages or in certain wild west levels. It's primal Sunflower in certain wild west levels and sun shroom in dark ages.
I’m head over heels for primal sunflower,sun producing is great cuz I use pokra every chance I can,but I used to use twin sunflower but I would need one more sun(I start off with 75) and then the zombies gets too close and I’m screwed,so primal sunflower is quick and easy to plant,and it gives nice sun so love that plant

Before I watch this, I can say the uses for most of the sun plants, sunflower is for getting a defence in maybe the mid-game, twin sunflower is for late game, primal sunflower is for mid/late game, sun shroom is for late game and cost efficiency, and moonflower is for synergy and pure sun output
