That's true recently I saw an article where the professional dancers give an analysis and rating for 6 girl idol who is best dancer according to their technique's, strength etc and minzy won

Now of course there are amazing dancers but she definitely paved the way for girl group members to move away from the "girly" dance moves. Idols will say now that their companies have told them to act/perform as if they were a 2ne1 member because they had to be fierce. 2NE1 are queens and will always remain queens, they've left an impact on Korea that no one else has, and that is a very fair statement to make.

CL- CL grew up in a variety of places and can speak Korean, English, and French. She's a fashion Icon and has some banger solos out there. I agree with the spiel you said about ranking dancing. Just for context though, 2ne1 is second gen, and around that time, idols were not really considered to be good dancers. Shinee was the first group to be considered good dancers (debuted 2008). Minzy was a devoted dancer and I believe, as her fan, she identifies more to being a dancer (even if she is an exceptional singer). I do think saying she is the best is very subjective. As a fan of 2ne1 since pre-debut, I always liked CL's dancing more, but I understood that Minzy's joy is dancing. I think I see that in Lisa in this batch of dancers. Also about the "leader", YG is known to pick the middle child (in age) as leader, GD, CL, BI, (initially) Mino then took out this concept for the later groups (like BP). I always appreciated the idea of a leader who is responsible for making the individuals as a group. If you see clips of performances, you can definitely see GD, CL and BI actually scold their members during performances. But removing the idea of one person being responsible for the group's success is reasonable I think. I have been a blackjack for so long, and their disbandment has been difficult for the members and the fans. These girls were the first girl group for girls (hence the originators of the girl crush concept). Korea has been exceptionally cruel to Bom, and YG has dropped her at her lowest point when she needed support. Bom was lauded as the most unique vocal and everyone wanted to feature her at one point of her career, and now she is struggling to reestablish her footing in the industry who now sees her as old, too distorted by plastic surgery. Bom's journey on Queendom and her singing Scarecrow with the lyrics, "Like a scarecrow, standing all by myself" is the most heartbreaking thing in the world. These ladies are such treasures, and I am always happy to see newer fans try to get to know them. I will always watch content supporting my girls.

i could talk about 2ne1 and everything they went through for a whole day, i wish the video had explained some of that more but i'm still grateful that you took the time to learn about these badass™️ women and revolutionary artists 💗 some fun facts: 2ne1 are role models to a lot of girl groups, including mamamoo (the way they sang along to 'go away' during queendom was adorble) and 'as if it's your last' by blackpink was a 2ne1 song that was supposed to be in their 2014 'crush' album but was cut. the lyrics were changed a lot but when it came out in 2017 a lot of blackjacks immediately recognized the 2ne1 sound it had

Well i lost my interest to kpop after 2NE1 got disbanded, and discovered mamamoo accidentally. They’re set the bar soo high. I can’t even stan other group lmao.
When it comes to 2NE1, we got 4 vocals, no doubt, they all can sing very well; 2~3 rappers（CL's the main rapper, Minzy's rap is quite good, while Dara can rap）, 2~3 dancers（CL&Minzy are both very good dancers, while Dara can dance, Bom needs more time to practice）. And the reason why Minzy is considered one of the best dancers among idols is because you don't easily see a female idol being able to dance AND sing at the same time like how she does, you don't easily see female idols split legs while singing. To me, it's not that much about ranking tho. 😝

I think Minzy was the best at that time. Beforehand only like 2 girl groups had actual dancers as idols, 2ne1 and SNSD/girl's generation. Especially when it came to popping, locking, and various types of dance. Only Minzy and Hyoyeon of SNSD were killing it at that time. Once again paving ways for dancers like Lisa to become female bias in kpop. AND she was only a teenager during their height

Minzy is the best because she was different, she was unique. You can never find another bom. Dara's visuals are still insanely top notch, CL's craft and fashion is still trendsetter. 2ne1 did a lot of firsts in the kpop scene that a lot of groups after them have been inspired to. From vocals, to dancing, to concept, fashion, attitude on stage, etc. 2ne1 did it all first. They have truly paved the way.
For how groups name ownership work in Korea there were a new law a few years ago allowing groups to use their name after they left the company (GOT7 still has the right for example to use GOT7 name thank to that). It's to protect idols since a lot of idols groups from older generation went to court for their name (Shinhwa for example) so the new law take into account the fact that yes the company made the name but it belongs to the members of the group as much since it's their identity. For 2ne1 since it was before that law they technically would have to have permission from YG to use the name officially if they have a comeback and would have to give part of the benefits to the company because the name is registered under YG. It does seem like it won't be an issue tho because YG is known to not be picky about those kind of stuff. Also Beast from Cube entertainment had to change their name and became Highlight after they left the company because they couldn't find a compromise with Cube and it created a lot of controversies back then hence why the new law is so important because loosing your name make you loose a lot of recognition too

Regarding 12:17 I wondered about that too until recently, when another group that I like, GOT7, all decided not renew their contracts with JYPE (their former company). After leaving, they still continue to use the group's name which I initially thought to be just a way for them to make their fans feel better or something. However, the members have confirmed that they can legally continue on as GOT7 because they were somehow able to buy off the rights to use them (still not clear about the songs though because I think those fall under a different copyright claim but I could be wrong). In 2NE1's case, I believe it's possible if the girls are willing enough to pursue it and can negotiate with YGE. It's just a matter of if they want to do it or not though.
12:12 it depends on the contracts but I think even they own the name of the group I don’t think they would create another groups from the same name. Tho it’s really different according the company and the contract. There’s a group called BEAST that had a lawsuit with their company and they had to change their name into HIGHLIGHT because of that but some get to keep their name. Block B changed label and kept their name and catalog. Same for GOT7 that recently all left JYP Entertainement and still owns their name and discography.

Yeah before 2NE1 and Big Bang the codes of kpop were really really different it was chill af and mostly really pop but only cute or soft concepts for both genders so both groups created this shift of having powerful concepts but also songs, the thing that every kpop fan and every groups has in their hand while a concert was actually an idea of Gdragon and it became a norm. The crazy haircuts and hair colors were also initiated by them, having songs with heavy messages and not only songs about love etc. Both groups are literally the reason why kpop sounds the way it sounds right now and they broke the Korean frontiers and were actually known from a lot in a time where social media TH-cam etc weren’t big so that’s crazy for their era. Still to this day 2NE1 and Big Bang has crazy connexion like you can see them hanging out with Pharrell timbaland Rihanna Justin Bieber Ariana grande like them since early 2010s. People always say Big Bang and 2NE1 are the other versions of each one.

As a fan of 2ne1 since pre-debut, I always liked CL's dancing more, but I understood that Minzy's joy is dancing. I think I see that in Lisa in this batch of dancers. Also about the "leader", YG is known to pick the middle child (in age) as leader, GD, CL, BI, (initially) Mino then took out this concept for the later groups (like BP). I always appreciated the idea of a leader who is responsible for making the individuals as a group. If you see clips of performances, you can definitely see GD, CL and BI actually scold their members during performances. But removing the idea of one person being responsible for the group's success is reasonable I think. I have been a blackjack for so long, and their disbandment has been difficult for the members and the fans. These girls were the first girl group for girls (hence the originators of the girl crush concept). Korea has been exceptionally cruel to Bom, and YG has dropped her at her lowest point when she needed support. Bom was lauded as the most unique vocal and everyone wanted to feature her at one point of her career, and now she is struggling to reestablish her footing in the industry who now sees her as old, too distorted by plastic surgery. Bom's journey on Queendom and her singing Scarecrow with the lyrics, "Like a scarecrow, standing all by myself" is the most heartbreaking thing in the world. These ladies are such treasures, and I am always happy to see newer fans try to get to know them. I will always watch content supporting my girls.
I still remember a dance competition between Hyun-a, Nicole (from Kara), Ga-in (from Brown Eyed Girls) and Minzy back in the day. She killed all of them....she was on a whole next level.

i could talk about 2ne1 and everything they went through for a whole day, i wish the video had explained some of that more but i'm still grateful that you took the time to learn about these badass™️ women and revolutionary artists 💗 some fun facts: 2ne1 are role models to a lot of girl groups, including mamamoo (the way they sang along to 'go away' during queendom was adorble) and 'as if it's your last' by blackpink was a 2ne1 song that was supposed to be in their 2014 'crush' album but was cut. the lyrics were changed a lot but when it came out in 2017 a lot of blackjacks immediately recognized the 2ne1 sound it had

When it comes to 2NE1, we got 4 vocals, no doubt, they all can sing very well; 2~3 rappers（CL's the main rapper, Minzy's rap is quite good, while Dara can rap）, 2~3 dancers（CL&Minzy are both very good dancers, while Dara can dance, Bom needs more time to practice）. And the reason why Minzy is considered one of the best dancers among idols is because you don't easily see a female idol being able to dance AND sing at the same time like how she does, you don't easily see female idols split legs while singing. To me, it's not that much about ranking tho. 😝

Hello!! As you might or might not know, I am an OG viewer of your channel. I have commented a few time here and there. Just one thing I wanted to tell you, you might have come across Mamamoo before 2ne1 and hence, the comparisons. I completely understand you. but, as a 13 year old Blackjack, I request you not to do so. Mamamoo members are strong, talented women, there's no denying that. But they had a place in this rigid industry because 2ne1 started a revolution. So saying things like "she's giving me solar vibes/wheein vibes" etc. would seem off to most fans. 2ne1 walked so mamamoo could run. That's all.

They introduced me to KPOP when they came out in 2009/2010. Its very odd to see people explore older KPOP as fans of the new groups. Very interesting cause the things I would say, you say also but just opposite. Hwasa reminds me of CL, CL reminds you of Hwasa. Lol. Perspective!

Yup. CL and Solar are the same age. Although Moonbyul is older, Minzy is just a little older than Hwasa and Wheein. There is a 10yr gap bet Bommie/Dara and Minzy. She was a prodigy dancer that YG and SM was trying to recruit at the same time.

I think Minzy was the best at that time. Beforehand only like 2 girl groups had actual dancers as idols, 2ne1 and SNSD/girl's generation. Especially when it came to popping, locking, and various types of dance. Only Minzy and Hyoyeon of SNSD were killing it at that time. Once again paving ways for dancers like Lisa to become female bias in kpop. AND she was only a teenager during their height

Minzy is the best because she was different, she was unique. You can never find another bom. Dara's visuals are still insanely top notch, CL's craft and fashion is still trendsetter. 2ne1 did a lot of firsts in the kpop scene that a lot of groups after them have been inspired to. From vocals, to dancing, to concept, fashion, attitude on stage, etc. 2ne1 did it all first. They have truly paved the way.

For how groups name ownership work in Korea there were a new law a few years ago allowing groups to use their name after they left the company (GOT7 still has the right for example to use GOT7 name thank to that). It's to protect idols since a lot of idols groups from older generation went to court for their name (Shinhwa for example) so the new law take into account the fact that yes the company made the name but it belongs to the members of the group as much since it's their identity. For 2ne1 since it was before that law they technically would have to have permission from YG to use the name officially if they have a comeback and would have to give part of the benefits to the company because the name is registered under YG. It does seem like it won't be an issue tho because YG is known to not be picky about those kind of stuff.
Also Beast from Cube entertainment had to change their name and became Highlight after they left the company because they couldn't find a compromise with Cube and it created a lot of controversies back then hence why the new law is so important because loosing your name make you loose a lot of recognition too

Regarding 12:17 I wondered about that too until recently, when another group that I like, GOT7, all decided not renew their contracts with JYPE (their former company). After leaving, they still continue to use the group's name which I initially thought to be just a way for them to make their fans feel better or something. However, the members have confirmed that they can legally continue on as GOT7 because they were somehow able to buy off the rights to use them (still not clear about the songs though because I think those fall under a different copyright claim but I could be wrong).
In 2NE1's case, I believe it's possible if the girls are willing enough to pursue it and can negotiate with YGE. It's just a matter of if they want to do it or not though.

12:12 it depends on the contracts but I think even they own the name of the group I don’t think they would create another groups from the same name. Tho it’s really different according the company and the contract. There’s a group called BEAST that had a lawsuit with their company and they had to change their name into HIGHLIGHT because of that but some get to keep their name. Block B changed label and kept their name and catalog. Same for GOT7 that recently all left JYP Entertainement and still owns their name and discography.

YG typically puts their "middle child" in terms of ages as the leader since he believed they were the most rebellious, and this position would force them to behave. Then, Seungyoon became the leader because Mino injured his ankle while messing around during practice with everyone, and they never switched back.

FYI: just a little clarification when you were talking about Zico and Mino and leaders LOL. Zico wasn’t the youngest in his group..he was basically the middle child or middle in age rank. As for Mino in WIN as leader, he wasn’t the youngest either..he was also the middle in age rank. So the younger members in Team A/WINNER is Mino, Seung Yoon, and Taehyu. Which means Taehyun is the youngest aka maknae of Team A/WINNER. 👍

Yeah before 2NE1 and Big Bang the codes of kpop were really really different it was chill af and mostly really pop but only cute or soft concepts for both genders so both groups created this shift of having powerful concepts but also songs, the thing that every kpop fan and every groups has in their hand while a concert was actually an idea of Gdragon and it became a norm. The crazy haircuts and hair colors were also initiated by them, having songs with heavy messages and not only songs about love etc. Both groups are literally the reason why kpop sounds the way it sounds right now and they broke the Korean frontiers and were actually known from a lot in a time where social media TH-cam etc weren’t big so that’s crazy for their era. Still to this day 2NE1 and Big Bang has crazy connexion like you can see them hanging out with Pharrell timbaland Rihanna Justin Bieber Ariana grande like them since early 2010s. People always say Big Bang and 2NE1 are the other versions of each one.
Actually only CL and MINZY are close in age of mamamoo but it’s true that it’s crazy to know they’re in the industry since around 2009 with all of what they accomplished and being the idols of group that have literally the same age
