Hi Rick. Your note made my day. As I think I mentioned in the video, we had previously "mangled" another speaker with a crowbar so I wanted to help others do the job properly without a crowbar. Glad that the video helped. Have a good one. Jeff

Hi there. I have these speakers - but slightly different configuration in that the power switch is located on the back panel. The exact model number of mine is: AR Powered Partner 570. The power-on rocker switches on both of mine eventually failed, and I had to replace them. I found exact replacement switches on Amazon. The repair required desoldering the 4 contacts of the old switch - removing the old switch, repairing/resoldering the leads on the back-panel circuit board. I used some new 22 gauge solid core wire for this. Final steps included inserting the new switch - and soldering the 4 contacts to the new leads. Because I am slow, and thorough, it took me a couple of hours to repair each speaker. The replacement switches are about $0.50 ea, and I had to buy some 22 gauge solid core wire which is also very inexpensive. The switches are rated at about 10,000 cycles, and then they give up the ghost - which is what happened to my speakers. Now they work again, good as new. I've had these AR Powered Partners since the early 1990s - and I think they cost around $400 a pair at that time ($900 today!) I can't imagine how many of these super nice speakers have been thrown into the landfill over the years - due to a failed $0.50 switch. Such a waste - when the repair is very easy for anyone with modest soldering skills. Thanks for posting this video!

Thanks for your excellent note and repair advice. I agree with you when you say that too many of these excellent speakers are being trashed when fairly straightforward repair work can save them. As you know, they are excellent powered speakers with remarkable acoustics. Thanks again.

Nice, for the Powered Partner 520! I need info on the Powered Partner 850, though, the big brother of the smaller 520 speakers.

The reason that space (the one that looks like it was for a pole), was there, was to install the stands that were to clamp on a shelf. They were made well, but the weight of the speaker was too much for them.
