Arsene is one of the coolest Personas yet, and seeing him not trembling when hes about to be fused gives me this chill down my spine.

uhh i think its just bc both can never be encountered as enemies which means they never had a reason to animate their knocked down form

Short answer: yes. The only reason you are forced to sacrifice him is because it's likely that Arsene will be your only other Persona at that point.
The only chance of getting a different Persona is by negotiating with the Bicorn or Pyro Jack-o-Lantern.

I got all the personas I could 1st play through. Never got the cutscene until I executed him for his cane.

Not always. I had 3 personas but if I fused the other two, the resulting persona was twice my level, hence forcing me to use Arsene
I honestly thought we would keep Arsène the whole game like a starter Pokémon. I would have liked that.

Unless you strengthen him, which you don’t even unlock till after the 3rd palace his moves and stats are kind of dog shit, which sucks because I thought the same thing and he honestly has the best design.

I was forced to execute Arsene on my first and second play through. On my first I got mad because I though that Arsene was gone forever (since i was new to persona at the time) 😂
Me too. Not to mention since Arsene is Joker's inner spirit, it makes no sense to get rid of him. At least we know Aresene can come back

Flareboxx The way I did was that I fought as many shadows as I can and leveled up for it and try negotiating with a lot of shadows so that I have more options when it comes to the fusions. It also help to have the legacy bundle which comes with all the DLC from vanilla and its completely free. With this you get all the DLC personas from vanilla for free. I used Izanagi cause he had cross slash which did double heavy damage so I could fight a lot of shadows in kamoshidas palace. Once you get to level 10 or so you should be good

Arsene is just so cool, I kept him on my most recent play through and it’s literally the only persona I use
If you know what you can get in the first area and you're lucky with how much exp you get, you can do this legitimately.
I like to think that awakening personas have permanent residences so they can always come back, but other personas just have temporary residences and will eventuallybbe forgotten when they are no longer useful.
Arsene, Satanael, and Raoul don't have to worry about their status being taken away.
The fact that Arsene doesn’t learn any moves after lvl 14 makes me kinda sad, he’s a pretty cool persona too

The first time I played Persona 5 I had three personas the first time I fused, so I didn't have to fuse Arsene. Then when he became too weak to keep up with my other personas I just released him. On my NG+ playthrough I made sure to keep him the whole game. I didn't even know this scene existed until I played the game for a third time with a friend.
I never had to fuse Arsene because I caught like three personas before the tutorial. I literally kept him until the endgame, mostly because I would've felt bad if I fused him

I made Arsene stronger just because I like keeping Joker’s original Persona. I even gave him concentrate and Megidolaon as well as null both of his weakness
I still remembered during my first play through of P5, I finally broke and fused Arsene with someone to get a better persona against Yaldabaoth lol
So, what about refraining from fusing Arsene until AFTER Lavenza is restored/real Igor is reinstated/you no longer wear the prisoner uniform? Does the cutscene still play? Or does it change to reflect the current situation?

I'm fairly sure it did in the original P5. Even if you have Arsene the whole game, a weird thing is that you're in your prison uniform and the twins would be there instead of Lavenza.

The moment Arsene having his 'last talk' with protoganist have me goosebump. I mean, never having that scene on Orpheus (P3/P) and Izanagi (P4/G). Not to mention that 'Igor' fusion style is pretty.. cruel.

I had three personas but it said I ''Wasn't at a high enough level'' to fuse the pixie and goat so I had to get rid of arsene
I've seen this happen naturally actually. The person got a crit on a Pyro jack and was able to make it a persona thus having something else other than arsene to fuse. I was able to fo it too. Kept him through the whole game

It's funny how Persona 5 made you get rid of him, but persona 5 royal lets you keep him until you fuse him
I was able to keep him in P5, I'm having problems with it in Royal though. I can't get a third persona before the forced fusion. So it's not forced, I'm thinking it's set to whatever difficulty you're on with the attacks because my group keeps killing them instead of holding them up to talk.

Yes, you can acquire a jack o lantern before you even do the fusion
The simple solution I found is that after you fuse, or during the fuse, close and re-open the game. You get the trophy and then get two other personas to fuse.

I had 4 persona’s at the time yet sill fused Pixie and Arsene anyways because Agathion is cute

the game will play as though levenza was never re-joined, the twins will carry out the execution while you are in prisoner clothing.
I like seeing the cutscene with Arsene when I’m about to fuse Satanael because the moment is so epic and significant; I have a save file dated 5/22 which lets me take advantage of a few opportunities like:
1.) Challenging the twins at Lv.13 with solo Joker
2.) Fighting the Reaper at Lv.13 with solo Joker
3.) Fusing Satanael just to see that cutscene with Arsene. Even though the fusion costs $600K, that kind of cash can be made back so quickly it’s not even funny.
It’s too bad that the cutscene was never made to show Lavenza on the off chance someone wanted to wait until after 12/24 to fuse Arsene for the first time.
