I'm an older IT guy and I used to think this channel was just basic stuff that was kinda beneath me, but nope. Turns out, even if I already know a ton about a given topic, I always end up learning something new here. Definitely worth the subscription.
It's so weird to me that parallel loading is an experimental feature. Back in the dial up / ISDN / early Cable Modem days, having a separate download manager was pretty much a must, and tools like Getright/Jetcar etc. were essential for me, partly to resume downloads later, but partly for multiple connections per file (as long as the server supported that). Glad to see it making a return.
As you said: "as long as the server supported that". Some servers are restrictive about the number of connections you can make to them and with parallel downloading you might get a 429 and fail to download anything.
This feature was news to me. I have what must be one of the slowest ISP services on the planet, but I've lived with it. I tried this add-on, and it was like switching from dusk to high noon. I was planning to "upgrade" my service, but this may change my plan..
Thank you Thio! I had my monitor for many years, and I never applied a color profile for It since I could not find one that would match my monitor. But with that chrome trick to force a color profile, I found that with DCI P3-D65 applied, I could see the color in that testing site! Now I set It on my monitor as default.
I work in IT and usually know about these type of featuers, but I have to say that I did not know any of these! These were super cool and I enabled a lot of them - parallel downloading makes a huge difference on my Gibabit line, thank you!!!
The force color profile I've found is still good on 'normal' displays, since it shows all those out of gamut images relatively correctly, and it keeps or slighty desaturates the in gamut colors.
Oh my thx so much, because of you i figured out how bad my monitor is and how much people who created my model cared for it (they dont). Had to go for an entire adventure and learn 40 different color space terms and differences between them. Visit 1000 websites trying to find dci-p3 color profile specifically for my monitor. But in the end, I just downloaded some generic dci-p3 d65 color profile and im satisfied. Thx a lot
RE: the search suggestions thing Thanks for recommending this, chrome was forever putting some microsoft site above the Akatsuki blog(a naruto from the villains perspective fabric I enjoy) when typing "aka" despite the blog being a site I visit a few times a week and the microsoft site being blocked at my router(because I once visited it by mistake and got annoyed with it demanding all the permissions despite the fact I clearly wanted nothing to do with it). Being able to disable that is awesome. No idea why they felt clearly malicious websites are more important than what the user clearly wants.
You should also talk about MS edge browser flags and esp., of android extensions on mobile with 121 version. Coolest thing for mobile users. Using it as I am saying it.
I am ofcourse a kid, but a computer one. I know the most what you are talking about, but there are always some mistakes. After like 2 vids i fix a mistake. Definetly worth the Subscribe😊
clicking the speaker to mute the tab's audio used to be enabled by default. at some point, for whatever reason, they decided to make it disabled by default. i never bothered looking into the flags to see if it was there or not, i simply assumed it was a feature they decided to remove. wouldn't surprise me if people were accidentally clicking the speaker and muting tabs without realizing it and then not knowing why the sound was gone
The tab audio icon was on by default in some version years ago and it was good. But Google kind of screwed it up and it is somewhat annoying to turn it on now. The thing is, now the audio icon disappears after you mute it for a minute or so, and to it is not as simple as one click to unmute it.
local lan would be nice too, its always a pain getting certs for local domains and using a proper domain, becomes long to type... IP address is easier. setting up your own cert authority is too much of a pain. lets encrypt doesn't work on local domains :(
Fluent scrollbars is awesome! I always though basic windows scrollbar ui was ancient for modern chrome, i wondered why they didn't change that a long time ago.

I am about to give up on chrome due to the oddities that come up & unable to find or question the help in removing them. Thanks for pointing out these hidden surprise gems
The issue I have with tab scrolling is that you can't ser it where the tabs get as small as possible. You wind up with much fewer tabs visible. I want my tabs to be about the size of the favicon. Yes, I know it has several tab width options, but none of them are small enough.
Don't know if it's still the case, but I recall the tab audio control flag used to act weird for me in pinned tabs where it wouldn't toggle. It still being a flag option is probably because they haven't found/decided on a solution for that.
for sure didn't know that the ITU-R BT.2020 color profile could make chrome break so badly that its just white or just black haha, took me an hour to fix lmao
Tab scrolling sound handy for me.... However it might also slow me down... Since when i start getting too many tabs i just open a new chrome tab separately from all the others.
Cool video, tho it seemed like the "Parallel downloading" did nothing to my internet speed and even slowed it down radically! Idk it might just be me! :)
if im not wrong ive found an option waaay long time ago there for enabling the backspace button as a go back on the webpage like it used to be long time ago
There's a very good reason not to enable the mute button: when the tabs are small (because you have a lot of them open), it makes it inpossible to click on the tab without muting it. This is a problem I have with Firefox, as it doesn't let you turn this feature off. There's a CSS hack that sorta works, but then it can still be hard to click on a tab. Also, it's not very useful. I can't remember the last time I had to mute a tab. Only videos autoplay, and you can almost always stop them with a single click.
Perfect presentation, everything simple and understandable. You just gained a subscriber to your channel, I will recommend it to my friends. We have the following issue. Have you ever noticed at the end of a video on TH-cam that some huge boxes appear with suggestions for other videos? I have a premium subscription to youtube, I don't want to activate any ad blocker to solve the problem. Do you know how I can solve this problem in chrome windows 10? That is, how can I make some setting so that these frames do not appear at the end of the videos? Thank you for your help and your time.
Tabs scrolling size is a useful feature. But the read mode is terrible. I wanted it like in EDGE where it is perfect: it shows a web-page with no ads and allows you to read the whole page even in Ukrainian. Chrome version can't read aloud and makes the page view kinda strange.
Turns out my monitor can display more colors. Thanks for mentioning this. Now i gotta find out how to have my samsung curved monitor have the right profile.
The problem is that in updates they often take away the flags that undo whatever horrid UI feature they've changed, thereby eroding the user experience more and more as the years go on. Useful video tho. I enabled the first 3 and disabled Chrome Refresh 2023 (tho I'm sure they'll soon take that one away). And I already had Smooth Scrolling disabled.
09:02 maybe even more important: color picker programs will pick color that is not exactly what is written in css if color profile is not sRGB (at least in linux x11)
Flag: Enable CVC storage and filling for payments autofill Description: When enabled, we will store CVC for both local and server credit cards. This will also allow the users to autofill their CVCs on checkout pages.
I tried to run wide gamut test on Android. No matter what profile you choose it doesn't work, but downloading the picture and viewing it in gallery reveals the W
I dislike the Chrome Refresh 2023. To reopen a closed tab immediately after closing it, which I commonly close accidentally, I right click on new tab and select reopen closed tab. Can't do that in Chrome Refresh 2023. Hopefully that gets fixed later before Google removes the old style interface.

Are there bandwidth concerns on the server's side or anything like that maybe? That's all I could think of.
As you said: "as long as the server supported that". Some servers are restrictive about the number of connections you can make to them and with parallel downloading you might get a 429 and fail to download anything.

I think camera and mic preview is there too
yes same for brave also

Dude that tab scrolling one is a godsend. Thank you.
Love the parallel downloading feature. It use to take over ten minutes to download the Windows 11 iso. Now it downloaded in less than five.

The color profile one is really neat!

The scroll bar thing is called a thumb. It mimics you moving your thumb down a long document as you hold it.

for chrome labs it has an "enabled" and an "enabled use this!" option
Yea I found that funny

did you have issues with s? cant even get scroll bars with it enabled on them anymore...
