These two videos you've beautifully produced feature almost an entire undergraduate degrees worth of concepts to study. Thank you so much for this great presentation of concepts!
Jeff - this is such a great teaching method for jazz vocabulary. The characterisation of licks that can be combined in a structured way, using the words to sentences analogy, is very powerful. More of the same please.
Excellent material. I've currently hit the point where I've internalized chords/shapes/etc. but soloing is ... not great. Thinking of licks as building blocks for larger solos is a wonderful way of thinking about it, and I'm going to start looking at these. Thank you so much for posting this. I don't know if this is in your schedule, but I'd love to hear your thoughts about comping, comping rhythms, and how to incorporate the left hand when soloing on the piano.
that's hella lit 🔥🔥 thanks a lot im going to take note of every single one and work on it i really like how you explain it clearly and put it in context o/
Hi Jeff - Nice unique concept for these videos. I think giving the licks an actual name helps to absorb the material. Also, your editing is great. If you don’t mind me asking, what tools do you use?
Hola Jeff ! No recibí respuesta , acerca de la compra del ‘Licks for Days’ no dice cómo 😊 descargar , serías tan amable de indicar cómo hacer la descarga ?
You think music is about beginner/intermediate/ advanced!? You're missing the point. That's probably why your compositions aren't the reason why people know who you are. And you've had to resort to this.

Lick number 11 is from “Cry Me a River”, isn’t it?

Because licks are like words and words are like bullets

It's so sad to love jazz music and not be able to play it. The richness and complexity of jazz feels out of reach 😢
