This is old but I can give you some back story on the need to use location permission. On android devices (I believe this was a change first on android 5 or 6 and continuous) since Bluetooth can be used to determine a users approximate or exact location all applications that would require the use of the Bluetooth chip in your phone Android made it a systems policy that any application that needs to use Bluetooth must also request location permissions in order to notify the user that their location may be obtained and used by that application

Great info. Love that you tested them for several uses! I would personally use them for streaming and for work lights while doing projects/repairs around the house. My home security camera and some smart power switches also use the Smart Life app.
Thank you for discussing the good, the bad, and the ugly. You’re the first video to actually explain how the lights sync up with music. It is a little disappointing that it does require the microphone of your smart phone in order for the lights to sync up to music.
Ty, I have to say a bit disappointed, I thought the bluetooth device was for Bluetooth audio sound and google, amazon commands, I can't believe the only option here for music syncing is with your phoned mic, not cool, very disappointed will be returning them. Tks
