I think it shows that we never have anywhere near enough data to make accurate predictions because each fighter only has a handful of fights in their entire UFC careers. So in the space of one year our assumptions about the balance of everything can change completely. Most champs have only fought 2 or 3 of their division’s top 10. Veteran legends whose careers and weight class overlaps somehow retire before they ever got matched up. We’re all just guessing wildly at everyone’s level, based on MMA maths, including the matchmakers who shape the narratives and trajectories of careers and divisions. This is the one argument that Khabib haters have which I think is legitimate: if he’d have fought on longer, would something have been exposed that we never got a chance to see? I personally think not, I think he’d have continued to have unprecedented dominance, but again, I can’t be sure.

I still think Charles would do well against Khabib, obviously we have no way of knowing who would've won, but I think people dont give Islam's striking enough credit on why he won in his bout against Charles. Not only did Islam never shoot a single or double leg on Charles because of the threat of Charles' submission game, the only reason Islam got the submission on Charles is because he rocked Charles on the feet which led to the fight ending exchange on the ground. When they were on the ground in round 1 and Charles wasn't rocked, Islam wasnt having much succes although admittedly winning the round against Oliveira. Khabib was nowhere near the level of striker Islam is and Khabib relied a lot more on his wrestling game compared to Islam, which doesn't necessarily mean Charles would've won against Khabib, but I think his chances are better in that match up than with Islam.

Saying Chimaev would ragdoll Adesanya is such a fk stretch. Such stupid take because he lost to DDP. He was sprawling so good against DDP. Plus Chimaev has dogshit gas tank. I still think Charles would do well against Khabib, obviously we have no way of knowing who would've won, but I think people dont give Islam's striking enough credit on why he won in his bout against Charles. Not only did Islam never shoot a single or double leg on Charles because of the threat of Charles' submission game, the only reason Islam got the submission on Charles is because he rocked Charles on the feet which led to the fight ending exchange on the ground. When they were on the ground in round 1 and Charles wasn't rocked, Islam wasnt having much succes although admittedly winning the round against Oliveira. Khabib was nowhere near the level of striker Islam is and Khabib relied a lot more on his wrestling game compared to Islam, which doesn't necessarily mean Charles would've won against Khabib, but I think his chances are better in that match up than with Islam.
