12 years here self-taught and finally making music I can be proud of. I do have pretty high musical standards though. Sometimes I can’t even find new music for my DJ sets because I just don’t like anything
I think I've put in about 1300 hours in 6 months. Safe to say I'm learning "quickly", but only because I'm giving it 100% of my attention and free time.
Definitely, and there are so many factors that influence learning. I fall on the slower side of the learning spectrum but I make up for it by investing a lot of time into whatever it is that I'm learning. In regards to music production, I think there's a baseline level of comfort that most people are trying to achieve. Many new producers want to be able to quickly and consistently produce songs that they're happy with - this is when music production becomes the most fun. Getting to that point is what I consider "learning music production". That being said, there's always room to improve!
Hey Charles! I think I am best at the singing and songwriting and not too familiar with producing. My main goal is to put out music. Should I produce my own songs or try and find a producer?
Thanks for the video, I’m a singer and want to learn to produce my own music, I will be ordering your program within the next month. I’m from Canada too, I live in Alberta… 👊
It depends on how much time you spend on it, how efficient you are with your time, and your past experience using a DAW. You can learn almost anything for free on TH-cam, but if the goal is the learn how to use Ableton as quickly as possible, take a structured course. Students that take my music production course have a great grasp on Ableton after a month, investing about one hour per day. The course itself is around 10 hours, but you'll spend another 10-20 on the assignments.
@@BlackGhostAudio I've been following along perfectly so far, thank you so much for taking the time to do this, the way you put everything together has been more easier to digest than most.

it literally took me 15 years to get where I'm at. Some people learn fasters than others. Some slower. Some never learn.

Can i follow this with Ableton 12?
Yes, there are some extra features in Ableton 12, but it won't take away from your ability to follow along with the course.
