The Originals - Down To Love Town (Dim's Full Lenght Disco Citay Remix)
Video: Fred Astaire& Cyd Charisse , Gene Kelly & Cyd Charisse, Cyd Charisse.
Great song, Cyd Charisse - wow!
This is one fantastic remix version of The Originals timeless 1976 disco classic. When I was feeling down and needed an adrenaline boost I played the 12" version to perk me up. Out in the clubs when the DJ wanted to fill up the dance floor he knew it was time to play this song. it worked every time. Boy this brings back some great memories.
This was on the DEFECTED IN THE HOUSE Dimitri from Paris CD
Those strings.
Love Town, a true classic, and this remix makes it even more special.
I agree the original was a classic, but not this remix. They added a thumpy baseline (unneeded) and turned it from a straight song - which is what the original one was - into an overproduced mess, where there is no longer a song, but sounds" inserted all over the place. And then they remove the harmonic beauty of the original by removing the strings complimenting the singer's voice. The song should belong to the Originals, but in this version, it belongs to the re-mixer. One rule of re-mixing is you never demote the artist in favor of the beat. This It has none of the beauty of - pardon the pun - the Original(s). None. You can barely hear the other members' contribution because the song is so chopped up.
I can understand why people might like this, but it loses the emotional impact of a song that builds from beginning to end. My crowds, when I DJ'ed in the 70s, weren't keen on the chop-and-dice remixes that came out.
Very few songs can tip a night club upside down this was one of them . classic disco style , the long intro the slow build to a crescendo and the explosive finale . The energy level in this number is hard to beat .
Excellent, simply excellent!! Can't get enough of this video!!
what a wonderful video of one of my favorite songs...
This song lives on........I still get the goose bumped when I hear it! And the classic footage ahh! Its inspiring me. thank you for putting that together, luv it!

Sωστος boy!!
All I can say is that this is one of the best edited music/movie video I've ever seen. By far, you are a talented artist to put vintage disco with ever more vintage movies and make it look "Beautiful'! Doesn't hurt that the classic Cyd, Fred and Gene all included. I can't stop watching what a great job you did. Look forward to seeing more of your edits. Felicidades amigo!!!!
Very well said.!!!!!

Awesome.
This iz TYYYYGGHHHT !
The remix is beyond words. I remember Dimitri's "Dim's Secret Edit" of this song...it was great, but is pale in comparison to this!! I can see where Michael Jackson was inspired with the concepts for his epic videos Smooth Criminal, Rock My World. The editing is greatly respected! You truly got it in on this!!!
sick :)
One name: Cyd Charisse
@mgstylz
Thanks! Cool that's you enjoyed it.
The first one, is "the band wagon", the second one " singin' in the rain" and the two last one "party girl"
WOW, so this is where and how MICHAEL JACKSON got his music video idea for "Smooth Criminal"!!! Hot!!!!!
I just watched MJ I remember him saying this in an interview and I realized it was the dancer from these particular movies.
interesting video
