I am just now realizing I have never been to Rhinebeck but I grew up within 1.5 hour drive and live now within 2 hours. I think it's time to rustle up some friends and head on up! I can't believe they are still in business given how few people seek outdoor entertainment. I think my generation was more attached to WWI aircraft than the current generation. Not only was it due to recency of the history, but if you never saw an aircraft, you would want to. Now you can watch hours of these videos on the internet. To many people, it erases the need to drive 4-5 hours and pay money to watch a show. That's just reality. Personally, I am just hoping the weather holds out this year until a weekend comes that I can convince my friends to visit this place. Time to make some calls! :-D
mark r pa was ther 3 xs a a child thank god 4 my dearest father . took me and 2 younger brothers , my very best wishes hopefully my son will bring my grandson up someday
Yeah, it is sad isn't it? Now it was 100 deg that day so that may have something to do with it. I'm happy I was able to share this very unique experience with my son. It has been on the bucket list for years.
That's too bad. I know Cole Palen stipulated Rhinebeck became a non-profit upon his death, in order to preserve the collection. Hopefully that means they can continue to operate, despite dwindling crowds.

Beautiful day.....Why no people!!!!
if I remember correctly they have a Mark V landship right?
Is this what normal crowds at Rhinebeck look like now? Those stands used to packed full in the mid-90s when I went there a few times.

They had no shortage of people taking biplane rides so hopefully that will help pay the bills.
