This is the story of Celestine Gachuhi, a Kenyan actress, singer and motivational speaker. She is a household name in East Africa, well known for her role as ‘Selina’ in Maisha Magic East's Telenovela, SELINA. Her effortlessly chilled, resilient and fun-loving personality has won her a legion of fans mostly in Kenya and Tanzania over the years. Her music stage name is "Cee."
This channel is for my Kikuyu audience as I have been on vernacular TV for some time now and I'm glad I get to launch a TH-cam show in my first language that I love and I'm eloquent in.
The channel is called Gìikaro Na Nonsizi Wa Ng’ethe which is a Kikuyu name that translates to ‘A Sit Down with Nonsizi Ng’ethe’. I began the show in early 2020 at the onset of the covid-19 pandemic but we took a break after a few months to strategize and come back big and better. The weekly show will be tackling a wide variety of societal issues like career, financial literacy, mental wellness, relationships and entertainment.

O kiumia ni ndiriikaraga thi na ataramu matiganite tukimurika maundu ta mawira ( career )umenyo wa kibesha ( financial literacy ) ugima mwega wa meciria, urata na miikaranirie ( relationships ) na maundu ma gwikenia ( entertainment.

I see in the comments people who are frustrated because they don't understand the language and on the other hand I see the brilliance of interviewing in the vernacular language. I sympathise with the former. The way people express themselves in vernacular especially the Gikuyu language is sacred and freeing in a way. There's a way with the words and a way of being that is unique. I would say it can easily be the same with other mother tongues as well. I understand Kikuyu and I can express myself but I wasnt fully emersed in it, so listening to such a conversation is a breath of fresh air.
