영롱한 무지개 빛깔로 반짝반짝 빛나는 코하쿠토를 만들었어요~
맛을 위해 저는 복숭아 맛 음료수를 사용했는데 그냥 물을 사용하셔도 괜찮답니다~
색이 6가지라 한 층씩 굳혀야 해서 시간은 더 많이 걸리지만 단면이 예쁠 것 같아 만들어 봤어요~
실리콘 틀에 큰 정사각형 모양으로 굳혀 자르지 않고 통채로 건조시켰는데 요즘 날씨가 건조해서 몇일 만에 잘 마르더라구요~
큰 틀에 하나로 굳힌 뒤 잘라서 건조시켜도 좋을 것 같아요~
어디에서도 보지 못했던 무지개빛 코하쿠토라서 색다르고 정말 예쁜 것 같아요~

▶재료
복숭아맛 음료수 110g
한천가루 3g
설탕 160g
(x6)
식용색소
▶레시피
1. 복숭아맛 음료수에 한천가루를 넣고 섞은 뒤 식용색소를 넣어 색을 낸다.
2. 냄비에 넣고 약불에서 한천가루가 녹을 때까지 5분 정도 끓이고 설탕을 넣고 끈적해질 때까지 4분 정도 끓인다.
3. 틀에 붓고 냉장실에서 20~30분 정도 굳힌다.
4. 반복해 색 별로 끓여 굳히고 마지막 층을 붓고 냉장실에서 1시간 정도 굳힌다.
5. 그늘진 곳에서 겉면이 딱딱해질 때까지 4~5일 정도 건조시킨다.

3g Agar powder
160g Sugar

For those of you who are wondering, you can’t replace the agar powder with gelatin, as it won’t work. Have a lovely day 😊
And for the people in the US who can't find Agar powder, most Asian supermarkets carry them. Check around the area with the baking supplies.
I guess it can work, but you'll need more of it and I'm not sure if you can boil it, also gelatin has subtle meat taste so it won't be good for dessert. But I guess it will work in some way?.. I've seen similar stuff with gelatin it was ok, if I'm not mistaken
@@DioShiver Gelatin is okay if you're trying to make the jelly-like texture the kohakuto initially has when freshly made, but it won't harden on the outside over time like agar powder does in kohakuto; given enough time, it'll melt instead! Coming from a person who has both tried it and looked into it.
Gelatin doesn't work . I used to try it before
Rowdy44 No; you cannot use gelatin instead of agar agar because gelatin will not set at room temp. so that it will melt
My grandma used to make this every Eid. And I would eat some on the sly when the agar was drying in the sun. The memories~

Ccia Estocapio it’s like hard candy but the texture is different. it’s really nice
it's seems like it's similar to gummy candy, but more firm and with a sweet, hard candy shell
TBH it’s more of pretty dessert than taste as it only taste like sugar + water hahaha

Ccia Estocapio I made some using a different recipe I found online that used imperial measurements. It didn’t end up as good :( it was still tasty, but it wasn’t.... right. But I’m wanting to try again!

Can the flavored water be carbonated? Is there any sugar in the flavored water, or is it the type with simply flavor added?

@@HeyHrach I've never tried it but I don't think it's a problem if the water is carbonated. the bubbles will leave the liquid once you heat it up. and I don't think it's a problem if it's a sweetened drink

I will have to try this in a set of circular molds, making slices of lemon and lime flavored. This is exactly how I picture the surface and texture of the candy wedding toppers I want on my wedding cake - only A Lemon slice and a Lime slice! What a wonderful texture.

We have this kind of candy here in Malaysia. The difference is just we used to make a big batch in a baking pan, cut it into a small finger and let it dry under the sun for days. Agar-agar kering it is for us.

You can but it would just be like a jelly candy without the satisfying crunch. The time is to let sugar crystals develop.
But the whole point of kohakuto is that you're supposed to harden it and let it get crunchy...
If you don't it'll just be plain ol' jelly candy, albeit incredibly sticky.

Any drink works I think, apple juice, pineapple juice, cherry juice, lemonade, whatever you wanna use

soda is carbonated, it wouldnt work. I suppose you would have to find a juice with a lower sugar content

That's what they're most commonly shaped in to. I believe another common name for this candy(kohakuto) is "jewel candy"
