Awesome video Stan. It was great to meet you in person as well! What a blast we had man, hands down it was a great event and stunning trails! And thanks for the shout out as well, very much appreciated!
Stan, Honda's are built to last. With regular annual maintenance and a new set of tire in 21, my '87', 350 Fourtrax is still going strong. Thanks for sharing this awesome video👍👍👍👍👍😺🤗🐺
I have a 2019 Honda 1000 Talon X. At 900 miles the Sub-Transmission stripped out! Luckily for me Honda covered it under warranty and according to them it was $1,400 to fix it. I was told by the mechanic that this is a known problem at Honda and so far they've elected to do NOTHING about it. He said, you can hang on to this thing if you want, but I'd sell if I were you because it will strip out again, its just a matter of time. I specifically chose Honda over Can am and Polaris for the reliability factor, but as it turns out Honda isn't any more reliable than the others in this day and age of use and throw away machines. Meanwhile, we bought a couple of 4 wheelers, a 2019 Yamaha 700 grizzly and a 2018 850 SP Sportsman. Both have 1,200 trail /mountain riding miles and neither machine has had any problems to speak of, well except I just blew out the right rear shock on the Grizzly. So out of these 3 machines, the Polaris has been the most reliable and trouble free machine we have at this point. But we do take care of our rigs, do maintenance and we don't run them in deep mud or water. We are currently looking at the can am defender HD9 and the polaris xp ranger. Bottom line is this. If you buy this Honda, you are gonna have clutch and transmission problems, its a fact! Yes, can am and polaris may burn a belt up from time to time, but a belt is WAY cheaper to replace than transmissions and clutches/gears.......You all do what you want , but I can tell you for a fact that these Honda transmissions are trash and will cost you way more money to own and fix than a can am or polaris will if you take care of them and don't mistreat them. Just speaking from experience. Also want to add that I've owned Honda's since the early 1980's and they were once a great machine, not so much anymore. They cut corners just like the rest of them do! And I'll say it one last time! A BELT is WAY CHEAPER than REBUILDING a TRANSMISSION!!!
Just want to say thank you , I won't be looking at Honda, witch is a shame cause I really like this UTV . If you were going to buy another UTV , what brand would you recommend ? Thanks for any advice.
@@bushtrash2286 I don't know man, its a crap shoot these days. Everyone seems to have different experiences with different brands. One guy loves this one and the next hates it. I'd say go drive them and do some research for a few months, take your time and buy what's right for you and your situation. The best thing you can do is go look, drive, get estimates or quotes on out the door price and then go home and think it over a few weeks or maybe a few months. Its a big purchase and you really need to take your time to figure out where your money would be best spent. Good luck
@@bushtrash2286 We also have a 2002 Jeep Wrangler 2 door 5 speed manual transmission with the bullet proof straight 6 cylinder Engine $8,000 and a 2008 Jeep Commander fully loaded to the hilt 4x4 with the Hemi Engine, $4,900. To be honest, we really enjoy them much more than the side by sides. You can go trailing in them too but then hit the highway to the nearest town and go get something to eat, great all around vehicles. I prefer them over the side by sides. Side by sides are great for trail but most places they are not street legal and no matter what, if it starts raining on you, you're just gonna be wet, no way around it.
I have a 2016 Pioneer 1000 with 7200 miles. Zero transmission issues. It sounds like to me you shifted from high to low gear while moving and destroyed your sub-tranny. That is your fault, not Honda's. However, I have heard the Talon doesn't always fully engage in low so the driver thinks it's in gear and mashes the gas, the rpms shoot up and then low will engage causing severe damage. I will continue to buy Honda and Yamaha because they are simply the best machines for reliability.
Nice vid Stanley. I have a 2016 Honda Rancher TRX 420 which I use on property as a tool for hauling firewood, landscaping and mostly in Winter for plowing snow. I don't use it for pleasure since it's geared down with a top speed of 25 mph but it pulls like a beast. Love Honda ATV's UTV's.
Looks like a beast💪 I like the way the paddle shifters stay stationary. My 18 Challenger T/A 392 move with the steering wheel…it would be nice if they didn’t move👍 22000 that’s way cheap 😮
Well I'm a Polaris guy. I currently have a 2021 sportsman 1000xp. I run tracks in winter and use it as my main snow clearing machine for my lawn care and snow removal business. Plus with tires on you have to be a bit krazy to drive it to full potential with a 90hp engine and 140k/h top speed Thankfully I'm a bit crazy 🤪.
Glad the manufactures are finally figuring out that advertising money is way better spent, letting you tubers and real people do the marketing and advertising for them. On Honda UTVS the number 1 selling point is the true transmission. No CVT. Way tougher, and smoother.
You got to meet Cody and Jessica. I have watched them longer than you…lol It would be nice to meet all but I can imagine the challenge of weird people…
That looked fun. I do like Honda products. In the mountains the Honda I feel out proforms the rest in the utv dude of things. In New Mexico it is great for getting wood that's not on the main path. I do like to get way out there
We have 3 Honda 300 fourtrax's. From 98 and 99. The green one we have has been drove every day on the farm since it was new. I kid you not when I say it went without oil for probably two weeks and it still runs fine. Just smokes a little hahaha. Honda had to change that motor design because it was really bad for business making indestructible engines lol. My grandfather used the green one as a work bench for grinding and hammering. 😂 It's really unbelievable that it still runs.

This is what I wanted that Honda did not have last year. Yamaha Viking 6 is such a nice machine I have zero regrets about owning one. Glad to see others are joining the family UTV with cargo space game.
Storage drains are a good question, they should have them but an option to plug/disable them would be good if one were to ford deep water lest it come up the drain. It's always going to be a compromise between approach, departure and belly/cross-over clearance, but that looks like crossing even mild ridges is going to be a problem? With the tiny tyre/wheel combination, I assume that's a legal and/or class limitation, as there's not really any other justification in giving up the rolling radius - especially in broken/rocky ground? I do like the dual clutch concept, but do have some concern about the initial take-up - did anyone try gradual movement from a stop, especially when stopped in rocks or somewhere a higher initial load was on the clutches, or basic rocking forwards and backwards as might occur in partially bogged? On transmissions, with Honda's expertise, have they considered a more "conventional" transmission with a locking torque converter? That could give the best of all worlds - no clutch to wear or burn out in tricky conditions where one might otherwise slip it, locking to give a positive connection to the transmission for instant response and engine braking, and there is still the potential for a manual over-ride with the shift method one prefers. Oh, for the paddle shifters, most manufacturers seem to use a simple method of one side for up, the other for down, but it's a short step to having both paddles operate the same way. ie, pull either paddle towards you for up-shifts and push away for down shifts - maybe even have it driver selectable. That way one doesn't need to consider the steering wheel position with moving paddles, or take one's hand off the wheel to hit the correct paddle for the shift required.
$21,😮😮😮??? I can not see forking out that kind of money. That footage seemed like I could take my 2x4 Ram over most of that country. Maybe the creek? But…. One real 4-wheeling. I did enjoy the ride.👍
Way over priced for a glorified 4 wheeler, you would be better off buying an S10, Ranger or a Dakota for a couple grand and they all would completely crush these in all areas. Eh, rich people toys. lol
Stan I like the camouflage one but if I was into 4x4ing every weekend I would prefer a Jeep or some sort of off-road vehicle with In closed cab option with heat and ac if needed
@@Dirtmonkey in my opinion it has to be the Kubota the gas goes stale and screws up the carburetor I have my four wheelers and golf carts this happens all the time drives me bananas I put it on getting the Kubota this spring keep in mind they make a four-seater Kubota heat and AC Honda's nice just don't like the carburetor
Hello, where does the manufacturer stand on an owner's "right to repair " his unit?? Some, not much, people do like working on their own off road vehicles. M
With today's gas it's ridiculous you might as well get the Kubota that runs on diesel with heat and imagine AC posi lock front end I like Honda but not for this
great can Honda stop messing around and ramp up production of the " Trail 125" or upgrade it to 200cc because westcoast gas prices can't fire up the 3500 to go to supermarket ain't buying an electric nothing
Clutches are garbage because the machine isn’t geared low enough for the larger heavier tires most want to run. That’s why cvt is still king. Honda could get it right if they choose to do so.

Is it Florida road worthy?
Florida worthy- Not sure. But I know we get a ton of salt damage in Minnesota and my old honda 4 wheeler from 1987 is running strong with zero issues
Honda needs to step up their game. They need to start putting the Talon engine (more power) in the Pioneer with better suspension standard.

Eh, rich people toys. lol
21k is cheap in today's world..
I thought it was going to be way more.
30,000
What a nice machine. I was hoping we saw some doughnuts or jumps.
I like your thinking
Stan I like the camouflage one but if I was into 4x4ing every weekend I would prefer a Jeep or some sort of off-road vehicle with In closed cab option with heat and ac if needed
Heat is definitely a must if you live in frozen tundra land for most of the year like me
@@Dirtmonkey in my opinion it has to be the Kubota the gas goes stale and screws up the carburetor I have my four wheelers and golf carts this happens all the time drives me bananas I put it on getting the Kubota this spring keep in mind they make a four-seater Kubota heat and AC Honda's nice just don't like the carburetor
@@chuckb9867 don't use gas with ethanol and do a little preventative care if storing and problem solved....
Sounds like a very complex, and expensive transmission to get fixed .
Hello, where does the manufacturer stand on an owner's "right to repair " his unit?? Some, not much, people do like working on their own off road vehicles. M
camo
CAMO
😎👍
I don't like all the exposed steel in front of the back seat passengers I'm sure they could wrap all that with foam
Good call
I wish the tires were not so tiny.
22k is for a bone stock unit.
HVAC????
hi sent the olive green to Ukraine see well do Ukraine are use Polaris Rangers and Polaris MRZR Alphas
I sure hope it works out
Honda needs to take the 2001 HONDA RECON 4 WHEEL AND make it into a SxS. Thing was a tank
Id love to see that
21K wow I rather have a used JEEP
With today's gas it's ridiculous you might as well get the Kubota that runs on diesel with heat and imagine AC posi lock front end I like Honda but not for this
Can’t go wrong with kubota!
Or Harbour Freight 💪
great can Honda stop messing around and ramp up production of the " Trail 125" or upgrade it to 200cc because westcoast gas prices can't fire up the 3500 to go to supermarket ain't buying an electric nothing
agreed
If she's not wet in the end.. the ride wasn't even close to exciting!
very true
The clutch sucks. I have 600 ruff miles on 3rd clutch need to put 4th in
oh man- sorry to hear that. Itw as smooth as silk for me
Clutches are garbage because the machine isn’t geared low enough for the larger heavier tires most want to run. That’s why cvt is still king. Honda could get it right if they choose to do so.
