- Japan has a LOT of phenomenal Smash Ultimate players, but recently, Gackt, a Ness main, has been climbing the ranks. He recently placed 4th at a major tournament, beating out top players like Kola and Gluttony. We got our SMASH PROS to react to a few of his sets.

everyone is talking about gackt and jake and whatnot but I find it so funny I've not seen anyone talk about the grand finals cause the sets were pretty bad lol
Literally it was not knowing the matchup with Steve, If you’re talking about the set with jake and gackt. You’re the type to pull out the mistake someone makes once on them, despite the successful runs and victories they’ve gotten. Sit down 💀

@@AshtonOrtega no, it was cosmos vs zomba. Once zomba lost all confidence and his mental was shattered the games weren't close.
@@genesisosuna Zomba looked really REALLY tired (Cosmos too a bit), and I think that made him anxious. Poor kid looked like me when I stay up too late wondering why I'm getting worse at the game! 😅 I think he switched to Link just to get the set over with. Those big tournaments must be mentally draining.
I kinda wish you went over the game he lost too. It might have just been Steve jank but seeing where Ness (or other characters/pros) struggle feels like valuable information and a good way to wrap it up.
I totally agree with you and hope that they do so in the future, but I’m also guessing they might already have planned to cover Jake’s or Zomba’s run, and we might see an analysis of those sets in future videos
@@Woody_jospeh PGStats did a video on Jake's run, so in total they did 3 Glitch Infinite videos
@@harpot678 yeah but PG Stats doesn’t really go over the gameplay. Their videos focus mostly on interesting tournament or player stats and trends in the meta

I still remember in Smash 4 when Gackt was standing on the left battlefield platform and pk thunder 2-ed to the left OFF THE STAGE to win the game against Anti. It's one of the wildest things I've seen at such a high level of play

By themselves Esam, Marss, and Wadi are good content creators but combined they put out the best smash content hands down imo. Side note: Wadi has that black bbq funny uncle energy for days and I love it👌🏾👍🏾

Something funny that I just realized is that in America, Ness is perceived to be a button-mashy character who’s lame, but in Japan Ness might be seen as some badass character and all of the people who main him are cool
Top level Ness is considered cool too, BestNess/Scend does a lot of the same stuff Gackt does and is a fan favorite.
It’s just low-level Ness that’s considered obnoxious.

Is Mr. E the best lucina? Mr. E had a great run beating gluttony and some other great players in ultimate wanted 4 finishing 5th . He might have won wanted if not for an controller issue.
Proto's still the best Lucina. I'd say it's either Mr.E or Leon for second best.

He tried to forward smash that last PK thunder 2 he got hit by.
Looked like Kola commited to the forward smash just after Gackt start PK thunder, so his only options were try to let it rip right away and spam counter or try to run. Chances are forward smash is too laggy though even for Roy. Instead he opts to try to beat out PKT2 which is invulnerable frame 1-32 so chances are he couldn't beat it out when that close. (checking the frames it was IMPOSSIBLE lol nice try)
I've never played earthbound and I main ness 😁😁
I hated Ness in SSBU but I just started playing Earthbound. It's a great game so far and I like Ness much more now :)

Sorry esam I have to call you out, Ness is really easy to edgeguard. Idk why people respect his up b when he's off stage. If it hits you he loses it and just sinks like a brick. I'm not a great player so maybe some of you good players can explain to me why more people don't go off stage versus Ness?
Assuming your strategy is jumping into the thunder ball, Ness can thunder around the other way so that it's under the stage and hard to jump into. You see Scend do that a lot especially. And of course if you mess up your edgeguard like ESAM was saying (which is surprisingly easy because of the amount of mixup tools Ness has offstage), then you just die to an untechable at 30%.
@@MorikawaMelodies depends on your percentage as well as low percentage even getting by the upB can work in your favor in slowing the momentum and not reaching ledge. Zomba did exactly that vs Gakt, but obviously not get by the initial hit but already traveling ness bullet.
