What a great episode, undetected ground is very rare. I hope the land owner will get a small vial of gold for the privilege of allowing you on. I have a mate, old gold field. He allows me there, i have found very small fine flour gold there and always with Mercury. 1870 field, small & didnt last long. His property is smack in the middle, a hell of a lot of workings, hard rock mines surrounding it. The old township is there as well, 20 metres from his house is the old school ( nothing but a flat spot now) but I am looking forward to some relic detecting. I give him all the gold i find, after i retort the Mercury away and smelt it. Cheers Glenno. How awesome!😮

Great score Glenn getting private property to yourself. I once had access to private property similar to this along the Mongarlowe river. Boy did the old timers rip that place apart, the amount of manual labor they did was incredible, all with pick and shovel. Like your spot there are shafts everywhere. Last week I found a hand stacked rock wall, probably Chinese, in places 2m high and 1 or 2m wide at the base and about 150m long leading up the hill from a creek with a house site and chimney stack at the top. They had surfaced the whole hillside. I detected some of the area but the junk just drove me crazy. I did a couple of test pans with no success, I'll be back there one day.
Very exciting stuff Glenn"o . 👍👍That place has received a lot of attention in it's Day , that's for sure . And the build up of debris on those Mullock heaps would need some serious raking . That is a very good result though for only half a dozen pans along the creek . Thats between Hillend and Hargreaves, i spent a year living out of my jackaroo in the bush there. Theres a gold reef near Hargreaves i found and dug up 4 nuggets next to each other avg 40 grams each in Quartz and a 1oz Gold Sovereign
Nice spot Glenno. Could be a few sov’s around given how rich the ground was. Reckon they were looking for the gutters with those deep holes. The reef could of been the saddle type given the closeness of the lines.

Nobody digs all them holes for just thier health lol they got some good gold but there would have been plenty of duffers and blisters hurt no matter how much or how little was found
