      Yup, FL has a robust backup saves feature. You can choose between:
      • Very frequently (every minute & before risky operations)
      • Frequently (every 5 minutes & before risky operations)
      • Regularly (every 5 minutes)
      • Occasionally (every 10 minutes)
      • Rarely (every 15 minutes)
      • Never (just remind every 10 minutes in the hint panel)
      You can also choose the max amount of saves allowed (up to infinity) and if you want them saved in the project folder or the global folder.

    I got stuck on Cubase years ago and haven't installed another DAW since. Well, except Reaper, but that was a free demo and I couldn't figure out how to get any audio to come out of it. 1 hour later and I gave up. Going from Cubase to Reaper is like going from Windows to Linux.
    Oh, I did also tried StudioOne once but couldn't get the routing to work as I wanted it. Another big learning curve for my old brain. Maybe it's just me... Actually, nah, it's the DAWs. They're at fault. My brain is absolutely perfect. Can't imagine me being the failure point at all. 😂 (jokes)

      I started on REAPER because it was back then the cheapest option and had decent functionality. But once I intended to use more MIDI instead of audio, I had the urge to switch. I tested Ableton live and I couldn't get used to the workflow. Then I tested Cubase and immediately clicked for me, how the routing works and how to customize it.

      The main problem with FL Studio's UI is its window management. It needs to add more consistent layouts, with more consistent control over placement of elements within the DAW. Especially for use within a single display setup. On multiple monitors with detached panels, it's a little easier, but needs big improvements in the former scenario.
      There are also workflow improvements required for playlist, mixer and automation. All of which are apparently on their way, having been re-designed / re-worked behind the scenes. Should be interesting to watch how it develops over the next couple of years.

    He's not wrong about reaper. Work in sound design for theatre. The export options are amazing, especially when your have a project with 300 cues that you need to render out, all named, numbered etc. Saves so much time. However, wierd that his emphasis is on 'pro' (ie useful but not flashy functionality) but then he says they haven't added anything new for ever. They add amazing and deeply useful functionality all the time. Also use bitwig, ableton, fl, maschine, but reaper will always be my core daw.

    So the only definition for good DAW to him is mixing and mastering capabilities. MIDI capabilities don't matter, performance doesn't matter (just watch the Mac M3/M4 DAW comparison to see, how bad some of them perform by not utilizing all cores), price doesn't matter.
    I used Reaper, when it was in a 4.x or 5.x version. It was great for audio work, but MIDI wasn't really its forte. I then switched to Cubase and I have no regrets. Even the mixing console and pre-/post-fader FX integration was easy to understand from the beginning.
    As with all DAWs, each have their unique features and some suit better for certain applications and workflows than others. However, mixing and mastering is barely done these days with stock functionalities of a DAW. Instead, multiple VSTs come into play and thanks to Steinberg forcing developers to use VST3, we also get really good new plug-ins that simply could not exist in the past.

      @@Yuusou. yeah reaper’s insane, I think the best feature(or suite of features) which I can barely scratch the surface of, is the way you can customize and recall different setups for different workflows. Next coolest feature is the actions catalogue(which is exactly what you said) where you can see Every Thing the daw can do, just insane
      Probably the best thing that people will get addicted to, and forget they don’t have if they switch away from reaper for a bit, is how most actions are non-destructive, really neat that you don’t even have to undo to get back to where you were, even if the undo list is right there so you can easily click on 87 steps back and read what that action was so you can find where you made your mistake or whatever
      What drew me back after a few months of Ableton was the crazy way editing is implemented: especially razor editing (some good TH-cam vids explaining that one) and the way you can just highlight different items on the timeline and you can modify parameters on all of them, or even drag their beginnings, ends or fades

  • @jakerain2820
    @jakerain2820 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    There is no "Tier". I learned production on reason 1.0. Yeah im old. Used it for about 5 years. Moved to FL. was on that for a decade or more. Now i use studio one because i use hardware more than when i was young and couldnt afford it. To me, if you're young and broke, FL ableton reason are best. Integrating hardware id lean more toward studio one etc, with that said, i have no issues even today recording hardware in FL either. I just like the flow of Studio one right now. that could change next year and could be back in FL. nobody who listens to music gives a flying F what was used to do it.

    i still don't recommend Reaper unless you on a budget or a sound designer working toward the game industry. Reaper is actually the best DAW for this.. there is also Cubase Nuendo but it's 1400 USD lolol F that .. and it crashes. Reaper has more customization than Nuendo actually too. still , for most ppl Ableton is probably the best DAW if you can afford it.. the fricking racks and plugin chains built in are goated i will admit. i been watching some ppl do sound design in Ableton lately. you can do crazy stuff.

    • @SimienHill
      @SimienHill 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      True statement. Any DAW can be used to create the highest quality sounds. You just have to be knowledgeable enough to use the tools properly.

    • @iamdoomedmusic

      @@iamdoomedmusic I don’t believe it. Maybe Luna‘s emulation of a summing console has an audible impact, but that’s about all I can think of among a major professional DAWs.
