0:48 What are the 'green' cuttings you showed in this video? What name should I tell a nursery when I want to order those type of cuttings? I'm getting way too many different answers any time I ask about this, lol.
@@GardensforLife ...ahhhh well, I've contacted 4 nurseries here in Missouri, and each one said they've never heard of "biomass" willow. The said they sell something called hybrid willow, though.
Hi Martin. I have a 80 yard long ditch to the front of my house, I transplanted trees two years ago but they have all died off, last week I planted willow cuttings that I had in a bucket of water in my polytunnel, all the roots came out and I planted these along the border which I got scraped by a mini digger last Saturday he cleaned up the whole ditch, I have been watering each evening look like there taking, will they create a hedge to give cover to the house.
Very sorry for the late reply Jimmy, didn't get a notification about your comment. Willows make for a great hedge, in particular when planting a mixed hedge.
Thanks for asking. I'm sorry but these have already been leafing out since the start of April. They will be available again once dormant around November. We will also have other kinds of willow and other colours then. :D
I've got a garage that has a nice long section (20-30 feet?) where I could plant cuttings. How far apart should I space these and how much space should I give them from the wall?
Sorry i didn't see your comment until now. It depends on the type of willow and if you want them to grow into a bush or a tree. If you have plenty of cuttings and you want bushy willow then plant them about 1-2 foot apart. If it's trees you want then plant them 4+ feet apart. Keep at least 2-3 feet of a distance, or more if you have the space.
Hi Sally, cuttings and tubers are available will be available in our Winter pre-sale in from mid september. These are shipped when they have gone dormant around the beginning of december. gardensforlife.ie/shop/

It's just biomass willow.

Well if it's hybrid it's mostly fast growing and therefor biomass. :D @@mts7274

Do you have to cut the top of the cutting?
We simply cut the top straight and the bottom at an angle to make it easier to push them into the ground.
What time of the year should I take cutting and plant them?
Any time in the Winter when trees are dormant.
What zone are you in?
USDA 9a
