I think Dream is suffering from poor direction choices, starting a show with angst and drama without introducing the characters was risky and I don’t think is paying off, it’s hard to relate to their feelings when there was no build up that got us to this point.
Some other poor choices: that ‘kiss can cure the cold’ had a background story in the book, but here is just nonsense because again, we jumped through all their teenage years and the flashbacks aren’t doing anything for the plot, no real development (at least for now)
Like you said, the workshop scenes didn’t have to be that long, and it’s not the only thing that could’ve done differently, the ep could’ve been at least 15 min shorter.
Jessie is a made up character, and even though she’s one of the most interesting ones, it gave the story another vibe, it’s more aggressive and drama-oriented rivalry between two women.
Lastly, the dreams in the book aren’t haunting, it’s just a soft shared universe where they date (even though they don’t know it’s real), it’s meant to be their safe space where they really communicate their struggles, they aren’t meant to be riddles and the change isn’t working for me either.
Still, I’ll support the show and I hope it gets better. I just think the director messed up a little, but it has potential nonetheless
Agree with everything you said. As someone who doesn't know the story, I feel very out place watching this show as if I'm missing something. I'm not really feeling them as a couple because of it.

i watched this ep and got more confused, idk what the goal was. there isnt a build up of storyline. and to put new actors in these kinds of lack of introduction, more serious type, i feel like it'll ruin them in a way (it's like praying for their downfall vibes). i have hopes since the manager was on the warp effect and maybe they see something i didnt in the script

Without the back story, it’s hard to imagine why Kim and Dawan secretly love each other. Don’t see the chemistry or love between the two actresses yet. Hope this series will improve.

I think the series has a lot of mistakes in production and direction. If a person who hasn’t read the novel watch this series, it would be confusing for them. I feel that they put the scenes in a randomly way and it has no consistency. At this point I’m glad I read the novel because otherwise I wouldn’t understand much of it.
Haven't read the novel and no clue at all, just thought everything was so random, like piece and match together. Did not manage to capture attention. Will revisit after more episodes are released.
The show is so boring. I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I just watched it with you and was still dead boring.
