US Air Force Academy Drum & Bugle Corps
    June 1959 - December 1973
The Drum & Bugle Corps was formed in 1959 as part of the USAF Air Force Academy Band. Many of the Corps’ early members came to the USAF Academy from the Air Force Washington DC Corps. The unit was staffed by enlisted personnel who were selected for their musicianship, marching and field maneuvering abilities. The Corps supported the Cadet Wing for graduations, field parades, noon formations, Falcon Football games home and away, and reveille and retreat ceremonies. The Corps represented the U.S. Air Force and the USAF Academy at Presidential inaugurations, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and Disneyland Main Street Parades. It performed nationwide at many NFL halftimes and in exhibition at many Drum and Bugle Corps competitions. The Corps also performed as part of the USAF Academy Band creating a 120-member marching unit. The Corps was deactivated December 15, 1973.
