      Why Zulu men and Ndebele men from Zimbabwe do not go to the initiation schools?

    • @MphethuJiv
      @MphethuJiv 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jostina, what I hear is Shaka is the one who cancel the initiation school since he was focused on fighting most of the time and the mandebele of zim/of mzilikazi when they fled from now called KZN it was already cancelled. Mandela of South/of Musi came out first from the tribe it still one tribe called amanguni and some of costumes where still in practice by then that is why you find Ndebele ka Musi,Xhosa and Swatis still practice those customers.

    Ndebele is all the South African black languages mixed together can someone please explain to us how did this mixture of languages came about

      Most tribes in Southern Africa are descendants of the Embo-Lala tribes, as time went on new tribes were formed e.g. Swati, Ndebele, Mpondo, Mpondomise, Hlubi. However the Xhosa and Zulu kingdoms don't originate from Embo rather the Nguni Tribe... In the 1800s when the Zulu was formed there was a series of inter tribal wars and other tribes getting assimilated making other tribes bigger. It was a scramble and all South African tribes started intermixing and adupting while influencing other cultures and theirs. Hence today every language in the country is somehow related to another language so on and so forth. In essence throughout history some tribes were wiped out while new ones were formed making our complex country today

      From the Nguni"s they live close with the Tswana most of the time, follow Bagaduba from Mathibestad, they are the Ndebeles

    Interestingly this looks very similar to our Hlubi tribe initiation. The concept looks exactly the same and I would assume we don't differ much even inside initiation school as we don't differ much with Basotho hence sometimes we interchange.

      The Northern Sotho (Bapedi) have shaped and influenced the Ndebele culture and language tremendously. It isn't surprising that their initiation songs are in Sepedi as Koma (initiation) is truly a Sotho rite of passage which the Ndebele people obviously adopted.
      Even the typically Ndebele "colour-blocking" is actually originally Northern Sotho. It's also said that even the name Ndebele is of Sotho origin.

    Why do people say there's a difference between northern and southern Ndebele when I can understand everything they are saying and I'm Zimbabwean Ndebele? The only difference I see is a little bit in dress although we also have those colours.
