Really awesome lecture where Swamiji clears many confusions about the Hindu Pantheon. Ultimately any power in the universe is given by the Supreme Lord and by worshipping him the entire universe itself is satiated.

Wonderful explanation by Swamiji. By offering prayer to the Supreme Lord, all the devatas will get prayer automatically.

After hearing this sermon, I got to know the difference between Devata and Paramatma. Thank you Swamiji for making us realise who is truly worthy of being worshipped 🙏🏼

Krishna bhakts should see all deities as Shri Krishna. That’s true bhakti.

The word devata has the limitation of semantics. It is used for the Param dev, the Supreme divine Personality. It is also used for the celestial beings. In our Hindu pantheon, we have got 33 crores of devatas. These are not the supreme. They are the celestial gods, who are performing administrative functions in the governance of God. God has set up his administration. He believes in delegation that enables the souls to become responsible and qualified as well. So, rather than doing everything directly by Himself, He nominates the eligible souls. They become the devatas to discharge various functions in the maintenance of this material world. The celestials cannot bestow liberation, because they are not liberated themselves. They can only bestow what they have, that are material boons. But those material boons also, they get the power to bestow it from God. So, the misconception regarding the worship of so many gods in Hindu religion, the Vedas are very clear about it when they say, एकमेवाद्वितीयं ब्रह्म - There is one Supreme. एकं सद् विप्रा बहुधा बदन्ति, एकं संतं बहुधा कल्पयन्ति, एको हि रुद्रो न द्वितीयाय तस्थुर् - That one is all-powerful. He is not limited to one form. We see Him possessing the ability to be formless and take on forms, and not just one form, but many forms. So, in one form, He is maintaining the world, in one He is creating, and in one He is annihilating. In one, He is the king, Shri Ram and in one, He is engaging Himself in loving pastimes as Krishna. These are all different forms of the same Supreme.
