About 55 years ago, I lived in Japan and we had a creek of about the same depth and three times as wide. While walking, I came across a Japanese man fishing there. He only spoke a handful of English words and he described the fish as "medicine fish." He was also catching similar-sized fish and keeping them. Since the creek joined the sea, I even caught a puffer once, after going back to see what I could do, catching my first fish. :)

For some weird reason whenever I see small fish getting caught I always think of the book Hatchet and how Brian survived off of them.

Wow just seeing this out of the box th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

Hey man that was class i love how you're so happy just catching tiny fish like that 😀 a real fisherman 👍 unlike some ive seen on here, i live in Scotland and have a small river that runs through the city centre n its only a 5/10 min walk from my house it has brown trout sea trout and grayling also lots of tiny species i was down having a look the other day and its time to dust my rod down n get out, it doesn't bother me if i dont catch anything just being out fishing is good for your head 😀 and ive also noticed when i go alone (usually always lol) time just flies by even if nothings biting 🎣 anyway tight lines n look forward to new vids.

While growing up, a bunch of us kids found a stream that was nearly as clear as you could hope for. To approach it to fish it, you had to crawl up to it, once there keep as low of a profile as possible. We would cast our line out and almost each time we would land a legal size rainbow. Which we wrapped in the thick clay that was found near there, then cooked in the coals of our campfire. Today, nearly 60 years later the small stream is polluted with fisherman's trash scattered along its length and mostly dries up during the summer months.
It was fun as a young teenagers to get out and fish like that, unfortunately the current owners of the land will not allow anyone access to fish the stream anymore. Even if we assure the owner that we will pack out our trash and some of the trash left by others. Thanks to those who have no regard for others property, a fun little stream is now closed.
Love your fishing videos, had a stroke a few years ago and can no longer get out to do many of the things I used to love doing, so at 70y/o, I live the out of doors vicariously through the videos of those who still can get out and do it with the presence of mind to record what they do.
Enjoy the out of doors for as long as you can, before the ability is taken away from you.

It's a blast. I haven't caught a bass _quite_ that small, but I've caught some smallies pretty dang close to it. Even at that size they put up a good fight on ultralight gear. I actually just caught my smallest largemouth ever tonight, but it was still almost double the size of the one in this video.

I love finding them little brooks that hold native brook trout, in most of my experience, if its a brook that never stops flowing all year it will have fish in it, to me its like finding a jack pot. one time I fished a brook hoping to find some and didn't, so I kept walking to a major river that the little one flowed to and caught some nice stalked trout then on my way back I actually saw a baby fish 2 inches long dead I took a closer look and it was a brook trout so I kept walking up that little brook and bam started catching little native 4-6 inches long, mostly catch and release but if they get injured I take them home to the wife and we all enjoy, its the only fish she will eat, hoping to post some fishing videos myself this year with my boy he loves his fishing and he's 5 and yes he has caught some natives and begs me to take them home so he can eat them. we compromise thanks for sharing.

This brings back memories, when I was about 12 years old, I use to go and fish in a branch near our house. I used a homemade pole and my Dad had got me some minnow hooks, #18 or #20 blue wire hooks. I think they were the smallest hooks you could get. Anyway there was a hole that might have been about 18 inches deep. I didn’t catch an small bream or bass, but I did catch minnows, they were yellow with a black stripe down each side and a larger minnow that had hard horn, spike like growths on its head. I would catch and release them. They got full of worms and I got the fun of catching them. I would always hang them in their lips. Is there any minnows in that stream? Thank you for sharing! I subscribed.

I used like a 4 lb. or 6 lb. line, large test line will not fit through the small eye of these tiny hooks.

I’ve never seen a big bass in creeks like this, but I always catch small baby ones.
