Tried the B524 last night. You're spot on! A step up from A124 and a step down from C923. It's a buy for me as well because it's definitely worth the money.
Bought one last week it's unquestionably worth this doll hairs!! Still nursing my C923 as I can't find another so happy to have this B524 to fill in the gaps.
When it comes to ECBP iterations, of course you have to compare it to it's most recent releases but it would also be important to compare it to other similar priced/aged options (if there are any) from other distilleries. I appreciate Heaven Hill for offering availible great barrel proof whiskeys (Larceny bp, ECBP) at a reasonable price. When great iterations are released they compare with whiskeys 5 times that $75.00 price.
BB, watched a lot of your ECBP, Stagg/Jr vids & found them informative & helpful! It seems for ECBP, starting from A121 or C920 (excluding C923), that A123 is your favorite, for mainly the heavy oak on palate. With B524 out now, where does that fit in? Oh, also I had a similar experience with my bottle of A123. Tasted the neck pour along side B523 & couldn't notice much difference. With 3oz out the bottle & not even a week later, the A123 became fantastic & 1 of my favorites! Went back & bought another at $76 & there are 3 left there on the shelf. Didn't know what it was exactly that I liked, but apparently I'm a fan of the oak.
A123 had heavier oak than B524 it was off profile really more close to actually C923 although that was special. B524 is just the best of 2024 so far but once I get the C924 I’ll do my two year wrap up with all 6 bottles!
@@bourbonbill Thanks, Looking fwd to the 2yr ECBP! You might have to leave out C923, so you don't waste it, when we all know the deal w that. Maybe in it's place, put in a Stagg or B520 if available.
Oh, did u see that, apparently ECBP C924 is not being released until Nov this year. The other BB (Brk Brbn) has that on their release calendar. If that is true, that means it won't be in my area until February to April.
Bourbon Bill I enjoyed your video let me tell you why you kept the background simple and you were true to who you are. Dont change nothing. I became a subscriber and I will get me a bottle
All ECBP batches are buys for me. ECBPs, Russell’s picks/RR13s, and sagamore releases are really taking over my bar. My most recent Russell pick is a 10 yr CN-F floor 5, so maybe a single rickhouse reject barrel lol
Hey that’s a well stocked bar you got it all some of the best ryes around and then some good aged bourbon. That’s a nice older pick when I was traveling for work I was seeing nothing but 8yr picks for almost a 100
Yeah this is a good one for sure. I’ll do my 2023 vs 2024 video once I get the C924 I’ll be curious to see where B524 lands but I think it’s one of the better releases
Picked up a George dickle bib 13yr on your recommendation. Definitely worth the price of 45$ in my area. Unpopular opinion but I may prefer it to knob Creek 12 for the price
Another great review, Bill. Looking forward to this. Will be hunting in the Pocono area this week. BTW - How do you have that much C923 left? I didn't realize it would be so hard to get and almost killed mine. I am saving my last pour for a special occasion.
Haha I was real sparing with it once it beat C920 for me which was my previous favorite. But having this channel I got plenty of high aged good whiskey to drink so I can savor it more slowly
If you’re gonna pull varying ages like Old Fitz, then reduce the prices of younger batches accordingly. 10-$59 11-$65 12plus- $75 I’m not as compelled to buy all of these anymore. My all time favorite is still C920. Thanks BB!
Hmm. Finally a positive review on the B524. I just got one at retail for $75. I hope to find it’s a good one.
Yeah it’s a solid batch it’s not their best ever but it’s certainly better than others

Absolutely Mike glad you enjoyed it. Can’t go wrong with it

Yeah for sure I only have one C923 myself and it’s being drank slower than the others lol
I’m saving the remaining half of my C923 for bottle shares. Anyone who hasn’t tried it deserves to.
@@JCTexanRyeGuythat’s great more people deserve to taste it
@@bourbonbill couldn’t agree more. Plus the only other special bottle I have is this years Jack 10
@@JCTexanRyeGuy highly suggest finding the JD12 if you can. It's phenomenal.
New subscriber here. Im liking the Bourbon Bill vids, learning alot of tips and tricks.

Yeah for sure sadly not a lot of near age stated barrel proofs that are putting out $75 dollar bottles anymore
Another great video, Bill! Thank you!
Has anyone got to try one of these single barrel ECBP toasted yet? Love to hear an ECBP fan’s take on them.
I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone actually get one yet so not sure if they are out I’m definitely interested in getting one though

@@DahBeersman if I saw a 10yr pick at 65 I’d be a buyer maybe I need to take a drive down south
Ahh one of my favorite findable limited releases glad to hear this one is worth a pickup
Absolutely agree. Its a great bourbon for the price and availability
C923s are going for $250 now! Cannot find any cheaper anywhere in the internet. Wish I knew about it when it was released.
Wow that’s a lot over msrp. I had seen some on secondary for 150ish a few weeks ago but I just hate the upcharge 250 is too much
Do Not Fall for that Hype! Com’on peeps, we are the ones who have to keep it REAL! C923 is very good, but that’s all it is. Ain’t no Unicorn.
I approve, and buy a few. In fin bottle stack!
Haha yea
Nice review BB. All EC BP’s are good; some are just better than others. B524 sounds decent. 🥃

Oh man that would be a good comparison I don’t think I’ve ever compared them! Glad you like it it’s a sleeper
Yeah it is great whiskey the flavors are great…
I only have maybe 1-2 pours left in my EC A124. I enjoyed that more than the jack barrel proof on my wedding weekend.
Blasphemy lol love me the JD but yeah A124 is good on its own but starts to fall off vs other batches for me. Congrats on the wedding
@@bourbonbill appreciate that bill! I do need a few batches for the cabinet. Going today to see if they got a new one!

I'm only picking up the ECBP "hitters" these days.
Well add this one to the stable lol
probably won't see this in NŸ until September.
One thing is Pa does seem to get them roughly on time unlike everything else lol

I like the idea I’m always in favor of less money haha. Oddly that’s the only brand Heaven Hill does that with
Why are you swirling it so hard in the glass? It's not wine. Bourbon is not meant for that!
Believe me it gets quite a swirling going down to the stomach haha. Also, that bottle was newer wanted some vigorous air exposure
Yes it is. You’re dumb
They need so start releasing some bad products. this subscription is getting expensive lol
Hahah shhh don’t give them ideas to release worse stuff and still charge us the same
