I had a feeling the Chogokin was probably going to merc the hell out of the SHMA in almost every way except maybe the accessories department. One can hope SHMA does way better with a special color edition or a entire remold of 74 MechaGodzilla and if not, make 75 MechaGodzilla the answer. I do find it hilarious for the fact after being on the aftermarket for nearly 20 years, the Chogokin is still cheaper than the SHMA in the Aftermarket in only less then 4 years.

I have a 1975 version of the chogokin and had the box of it signed by Tomoko Ai and took a picture with her with it at G-Fest 2022. She was fond of the figure lol.

The Monsterarts looks more like it does in the movie. But the Chogokin looks like how I wished it looked like in the movie.

The robot does not need to be comprised entirely of wonky ball joints when it is, in fact, a robot. It couldn’t even pull off most of the poses the SHMA tries to achieve in the films, so why bother when said articulation compromises the entire look of the figure?
I gotta get my hands on the Chogokin. Thing looks incredible.

If anyone was intending to army build Shōwa Mechagodzillas (as seen in Godzilla: Rulers of Earth) that are poseable and have a variety of display options, then I'd suggest the Chogokin versions. Both the 1974 and 1975 variants work well in that context.

I have the MG'75 Chogokin and it's one of my favorite pieces. Great QC and a lot of fun accessories. I wouldn't mind hunting down the '74. Also, the Chogokin figures scale really well with the later NECA Godzillas (like the 1962, '64 and '89) and the Bandai America G'68.

Loved this video and I knew chogokin was gonna pull through as the victor. As a kid I always wanted that 74 mecha G figure and begged my dad if we could him to no avail. Maybe one day I'll get that figure fortunately I have bought the 2002 and 2003 kiryu chogokin figures a while back, worth the dollars spent.

My issue with the SHMA Mechagodzilla 74, is the head sculpt. It's so thick and ugly looking. The Chogokin is the definition of accurate.

Both figures are long out of print. Only option is resellers like Ebay or Buyee. Both will be over MSRP.
