I read a story by a woman who said I don't believe the world is ending, or evil government but I believe my job is to keep my family taken care of if someone loses their job or is sick. I started putting supplies back after that. Thank God. We were fine during the shortages then my husband had heart surgery and was out of work for 3 months. We managed to live on what we had back with almost no grocery purchases. I had a hard time saying I was a prepper but now I say that proudly. You don't have to be crazy to be prepared.
I just did a Walmart grocery pick up and with the exception of water I purchased everything you mentioned. We do have a huge water source less than a half mile away, so I’m not concerned. I’m already thinking about putting in a garden and getting ready to order seeds. I order through Seeds from Italy. Great video!
Tory I am still waiting on my apt. Cannot wait to get moved in. I have a storage container rented with my furniture. I just buy canned goods and canning jars and things and do my prepping and storing wherever I am staying. I take everything to my storage. Water included. Nothing else I can do till I get in my apt. Everything is in metal containers and mylar and glass and cans. You do the best you can. God Bless.
My sil works at tractor supply and at the end of the season that throw away all the seeds… she saved me a huge trash bag of all organic seeds and I’m storing them in my fridge for this up coming season and I’m super grateful she thought about me and saved them from getting thrown away. I can’t wait for spring for my chicken and ducks to start laying eggs. We have 11 hens and 8 female ducks!
I'm listening to your show while I work on storing last months dry goods into mylar bags. I'm running out of room on the shelves, so I'm also stocking canned goods in totes. I mark the totes with the list of products. One tote for BB dates of 2024 and another for 2025. Then I can stack and forget for alittle while until I need to restock the shelves for the rotational. Lord, I had no idea how time consuming this would be. My beautiful, sort of awake daughter bought me a vacuum sealer for xmas. So, thats another storage project. I've decided to leave it all set up with my dehydrator and bags, etc in the dining room. I've also have 7 more pickle buckets from Firehouse Subs. I've made friends with the manager and he let's me know when they have them. I soak with bleach, air dry then put a box of baking powder in them to get rid of the smell. It kinda works. Hey Friend. Glad that you are informing people again....I try to and most look at me like I'm crazy....LOL!! but I don't care. Ever since I moved out on my own...I've stocked up food and hygiene supplies. Hi Tory👋👋👋 I am very impressed that you go above and beyond to research food availability, pricing etc not only for yourself but to help us too☺️ I mean gosh, it’s not like you’ve got nothing else to do like caring for a family with two small children and one on the way, a hubby, chickens/ducks and a home😳 god bless you and all you do/share, I don’t know how you manage it all but you do, god love you🙏🥰TYFS, I appreciate the information you shared, it’s very very helpful👍👍👍 I hope you have a peaceful and blessed day my friend, Happy Hump Day!♥️💫✨👼🏻✨💫♥️
Thanks Tori for your information! Keep your fingers crossed for me. I want to grow a little container garden this year with my grand son's help. I am disabled, 72 yrs old but I am going to try it. Giving you a load of love from West Virginia. Hope you are feeling better! 🥰🙏🏻👵
Hi Tory, great video. I better get myself more beans, corn, and tomatoes. I cook with these items every week. I try to pick up a gallon or 2 of water every 2 weeks when I shop. I always try every spring to plant a garden. Between squirrels and water limitations it was not my best year. Hopefully 2023 will be better. Much love to you and your family.❤️❤️
Gluten free for me. Love the wheat but, it is bad for me. And diabetic, love corn, pastas, rice, beans, but unfortunately, them dang high carbs are a killer.
Food gardening doesn't take a farms worth of land, though our Colorado short season does put a damper on how much you can produce. Since moving to CO in March 2020, I've been starting seeds inside to maximize my balcony gardening season.... I am only one person but w careful planning it's amazing how much I can produce! Not sure what part of CO you live in; I'm about 10 miles west of Denver and a little east of Golden (kinda gives you a clue). One thing I'm finding is that even grocery stores have ridiculously raised the price pasture raised eggs....over $2 in a week from $8.49 for an 18 box to 10.99! What are those hens doing, laying golden eggs?
So true, love to hear that ❤️ good for you 🥰 we are out East and we have about 1 egg per day from our chickens right now but hopefully some more in the spring ❤️
Hi Tori, I'm so thankful you doing prepping videos again. You have so much knowledge to share. Very informative. This is Whst drew me to your channel in the beginning. I'd love to see your storage ideas. Storage of your water. We eat lots of corn also. I like you doing a few at a time so I can plan and prepare bfor you share more. I'm from Alabama. Just delete the nay sayers and ignore their comments. When they know they've hurt you they will keep digging. We all need to be kind and love everyone. Be blessed.
Another great video. People need to prep. Here in Hyde Park, NY. Eggs are close to $8 per dozen. Lettuce is $4 per head. Thankfully we prep and have the items you listed. From my family to you, much love ❤️
hey Miss Tori, sorry I haven`t commented in a while. been really busy, familys been sick but, all are much better now " thank goodness " hope you and the family are well. I use topsoil, potting soil from home depot, grass clippings and cow or horse manure, anything green for compost, (mixed of course) keep it watered once in awhile. and as for water storage, we have a tub balloon and a bunch of the collapsible 5 gal water containers 2- 55 gal barrels, their empty right now, and lots of 1 gal and cases of water. gutters to, take care, ya look great Mom . . .
I am someone who cannot consume wheat at all. My rainy day pantry has white rice, gluten free oats and gluten-free pasta. I can grind the oats for flour easily, too. I also use white rice flour but not sure how long it will last.
Im so glad you are making prepping videos agzin. Ive been prepping again myself. So its back to organizing and gathering. Im also planning to plant some things this Spring. Keep on helping us. Giving us ideas, and teaching us what to do
We definitely need to be more prepared. But we are triying to do a low Spend January so this is not going to happen this month. But with the money we aren't spending we can build our pantry up again and look out for overpriced food. Although everything is overprice these days 😒 But as you said in your last video making food from scratch does help a lot too. We really need to make our own little garden too. Great inspirational video 🥰
@@MountainMommaLiving Definitely both sounds good. We are very much alike and it looks like our hubbies are too 😂 I wish all the prices would go down though 😒
Hi Tori! I love watching your videos about food storage and being prepared. ❤️ One thing is for sure with TH-cam - there will always be strange/rude people in the comments! One time I had someone comment that I look like an alien 😂 who says things like that?! I just wanted to spread some positivity and let you know I love your videos! Have a wonderful day 😊
That was a extremely informative and helpful video. I've got so in the habit of buying a few extra item's when shopping, I don't even think about it now. Have a wonderful week 💞
Thank you so much for doing this Tory! I would love to see you do the water video you referred to as well. Your perspective is so valuable and digestible. I was new to prepping and found you in the beginning and then you decided not to talk about it. I get it. But your perspective is so helpful and I'm able to be proactive without raising my anxiety levels, as happens on other "prepping" channels. It seems adaptable for those of us in apartments or small houses on small properties.
I’d like to recommend the channel Robbie and Gary Gardening Easy. They have some cool soil and gardening things they do and I’m going to try some this year. 🤞🏻edit to add - I think their tips may help with the poor soil situation you were talking about. 🙂
Yes, water is a major weakness in our preps. At 8 lbs per gallon, carrying water becomes a huge burden and should be near the top of our list IMO. Hopefully, we won't have to carry water. I like that you've talked directly to the mill operators and farmers. That's the best source for information. There are a few farming channels that I watch to get that direct, straight from the source information. Out here we rely nearly 100% on ships bringing our supplies. There is some small farming and aside from fishing very little meat and protein sources. Thank you for getting the conversation going. 👍

Question to Tory or anyone else who may know- I have seen Natural Grocers have water in Stainless steel bottles. How long would water last in stainless steel as compared to regular plastic or glass bottles? Now that you mention water storage I feel I need to reconsider have to store water
Hey there, thanks for the tips! Getting there on our Berkey journey, we have quite the stash of portable filters. We technically can’t because we live in Colorado, but it doesn’t rain enough anyway to bother collecting :/
