Ngl…I cried. I’ve always been a very lonely and socially anxious person growing up. I’ve always made up stories of friendship groups going on adventures, going out, etc, ever since i was a kid. I think that’s why newjeans resonated with me so much, I could project myself onto these young girls having fun and doing normal teenager stuff. But at the end of the day, there’s this sad realisation that none of it is real. It’s all just idealistic escapism of something I’ll never have. What a beautiful mv.
I'm happy that they are not adding unnecessary rap to their songs. Their songs are so easy to listen and something that you'll definitely listen to again and again
this video represents perfectly the relationship between the audience and the idol. the audience is always there to watch the idol. using them to feel love, joy, empathy, connecting with them through their own similarities they feel they have with their idol. this can sometimes be one sided. the idol is often there in "spirt", but not always there in reality. Side A and Side B represent the 2 scenarios one can do with that cold truth. One can realize that even if not together physically, both the idol and audience can still accompany and love the each other in a relationship that is understood mutually. Also, one can find that truth too cold and replace that "unphysical" love and "focus your lens"(the camera representing what you focus on) on a love thats more "real" like the girl does with guy she likes. However, in both scenarios, the "idol"(newjeans) will still be there no matter how long with open arms awaiting the next time they meet again(the deer).
I think Side A is about friendship, where you feel you're not in the group, or imaginary friends (still fake friends lol) I'm gonna guess this one isn't from Haerin or Hanni's pov and is ours, like the 6 legs.
Yeah now I think, the pov of the girl was a suicidal girl who had no friends and made some in her mind, for both M/Vs. You can see the camera off of the roof and it starts glitching. Sad.
I think this is supposed to take us back to 1st Gen to 2nd Gen Kpop times where Kpop was really getting popular in Korea and it started to appear the first group of girls in school that would film themselves doing the choreo of those 1st gen groups

NJ's creative team has such a solid grasp of nostalgia and sentimentality, loneliness and coming of age and what it felt like to grow up in that strange transitory period between the late 90s and early 00s. It's been so weirdly cool to see a Gen Z group embody the Millennial sensibility of this era and see bits and pieces of my childhood through this creative direction. I can't get over the innumerable and deliberate choices they make to really instill that sense of place and time and to capture the longing/projection/elation of modern girlhood. Or how cleverly they've shown what a timeless desire it is to just have a sense of belonging. To have memories and evidence of a life worth living, a friend group that makes you feel loved and confident. To feel pretty and young and cool and carefree or to have the courage to just be yourself. I loved these mvs but they actually resonated so hard with me that I don't know if I could ever watch them again lol. It tapped into an acute sense of both warmth and sadness that kind of forced me to recall the same void I felt as the sixth girl in my own upbringing. It was so well done it was a little overwhelming but that's what makes it especially beautiful. Well done to NJ and their entire team!
wholeheartedly agree. as much as i love the individuals members, i think the production/creative team really really outdid themselves with the group. choosing these specific girls and creating a concepts that evoke nostalgia esp in millenials (ie me lol) and it takes us back to a time when we were younger. the song itself sounds melancholy, nostalgic, "cold", and is filled with longing and the mv matched it so so well.

The two MVS made me cry... it felt so real. The loneliness. Imaginary friends, or friends long gone. Friends that are close and can do anything together. It really resonated with me
Wow I cried!!!!! Side A is the a story about a girl who cope up with her loneliness and problems with imagining NewJeans (her idol) as her bestfriends. At those moments, her crush is a constant reminder of how she cant escape reality forever. In side B, she 'drops' her 'friendship' with NewJeans and live in reality. Until one day when she's older, she opens the memory box and reminiscing her happy memories with NewJeans. She let them inside her life again with more grace and maturity, and NewJeans are more than happy to take it. :))
Their debut was so sweet but this makes me wanna cry. It’s crazy how they pulled off the same simple teenage essence but with so much mystery and emotion, yet maintaining the lighthearted feeling ❤

I believe that heeso with the camera represents K-pop fans. We relate to the idols so much that we can almost imagine them there with us, and we fall deeper into the rabbit hole. But it comes with a cost; isolation. By continuing to depend so much on these idols for support, we disconnect from the real world, and ourselves. We don’t even see heesos face until the camera is broken. Unfortunately the actual idols don’t even know who we are and will never know us on an individual level, and it’s unfair to hold idols to such high standards.

The truth is that all our choices and decisions are made only by us, despite there being external interference. We are only at the breaking point of change when we decide "alone" to change, or to be part of the change. The two MVs portray this: change. In A she is alone from the beginning and sees herself alone, in B only at the end is she alone and sees herself alone. The important thing is, no matter who you are with, or alone, seek your happiness without forgetting that it often lies in the small and simple things in life.
i teared up watching both versions, their creative team really knows what they're doing! how they're bringing that gen z nostalgia with 90s-00s few of us truly knew. i hope these girls will go far, they're still very young and knowing the workfield they chose, i know they're already going through tough times.

i don't know how many times i watched this mv, there could be a lot of interpretations behind each scenes and surprisingly it can somehow relate to us, i think that's ADOR's plan and they didn't fail. the MV has this feeling of abandonment, feeling stuck from past, and trying to move on from the memories that's making us alive at the same time lost. plus the factor that the chorus is addictive yet calming. I'm so glad Kpop has NEWJEANS now, everything on them is such a breath of fresh air.

This made me cry tbh. Especially the ending when the main character is obviously much older and reminisce those times with her fave idols when it felt like it was just her and them all the time because how much she loved them and how they meant to her. It’s relatable because sometimes when we grew older we also moved on from the things we used to love. Literally one of THE best MV to date. Congratulations newjeans!

Ditto MV is aesthetically pleasing. vocals, dance, lyrics, emotions, seasonal sensibility, everything is perfect. it'll be like a timeless classic. No matter how much time has passed, it will never become irrelevant or boring. NEWJEANS is a masterpiece of K-POP.
Agreed, not everyone is suited to R&B belts and ad libs. It's better to go for a different style that fits the voice rather than straining and cracking. They're so young, keep it simple.
This MV made me cry. Sometimes you feel that alone in your life that you have to imagine your own comfort people No but I don't think k-pop has ever had a group as unique as New jeans. They aren't doing something out of the world but still manage to make people stan them by their great personalities and amazing music. We need more groups like them.
Kpop is so factory made/ai generated it's like whatever. Like when you REALLY know how the kpop/Korean entertainment industry works you can't help but feel sorry for these really young artists that are literally disposable to the industry they are propping up. And knowing that a bunch of old men in suits sitting around a conference room likely came up with New Jeans' name/concepts is so depressing. Fighting, tho!
The mv can be interpreted in different perspectives. Tragedy, her arms got broken while her other friends didn't survive. Also, maybe she's a loner NewJeans made a part of her life.

the best kpop release i've ever seen. the song itself shines, but the dark and cinematic music videos paired with ban heesoo's channel showed how creative minds make an idol group go from great to legendary.
love how at the start of this mv, they show us what she see vs how it actually is, how she has no friends and only look at the boy she likes from the camera until she finally letting go of her imaginary friends and can finally be closer with the boy. then, she got to look at the recording again years later for them to come back into her memories. this is how I understand the MV, it's so pretty, totally giving the Y2K 2000s vibes they want to show us, newjeans the new icon you are! 💖
This is a STRONG MV concept omg. I wonder how Min Heejin explained this concept to the members because they executed it perfectly. It wasn't just "dance here, make this expression, stand here" but they legitimately grasped the concept and expressed it well. This MV kinda continues the technology theme from Hype Boy, but takes it a step further to show the relationship between idols and their supporters. I'm actually really happy they chose this concept for NewJeans, it's nuanced and hard to swallow but that's what makes it incredible!
I literally teared up watching the side B of this MV i finally realised what it's about when i first heared the song i really liked it but when i watched it's MV then i realised the real meaning behind it.Ditto holds a special place in my heart and it will forever remain one of my favourite MVs.I hope newjeans continue to make this type of music in future i know there's a lot of controversy going on,but i really hope that they continue to produce such great music their concept is really unique...♡
This song is about the relationship between Newjeans and their fans. The camera holding girl represents 'Bunnies' (fangroup name of Newjeans) because she is called Ban hee soo in Korean name at this video and that is so similarly pronounced with 'Bunnies'. She's always with Newjeans and takes their videos like a fan is doing at concerts. She also feels supported by them (Newjeans scribbled on her injured arm) and goes through the ordeal with them (they got rained together). But actually they are not real (she is alone in the end), so she can't be together with them forever. (SideA so far) She gradually recognizes that there is the limit to be together with them (She can't come any closer while Newjeans are dancing). So she breaks the camera, does not get rains with them, ignores the call from Minji. She gets out to the real world and begins the new relationship with the boy. But were all the memories they shared useless times? When she gets old, she takes out the video. And in there, Newjeans are still beautiful, nice, close friends of her. She can still remember the beautiful memories they shared. Maybe she wants to say 'I still like you, girls.' Then drawing her on the blackboard, Newjeans would say 'Ditto.' (SideB so far)

The sixth girl, “Heesoo,” is a symbol of her fans.Idols are like friends to fans.Idols and fans help each other when they are having a hard time. Fans sometime are asked , “Why are you so obsessed with idols?” Sometimes they get ridiculed for supporting idols. Fans stop pushing for idols and focus on their own love and life. But I will never forget the time I spent with idols.It’s a precious memory in a treasure chest.When I look back as an adult, I think, “It was a happy day.” Isn’t that what this music video represents?

노래는 좋았지만 뮤비 안본이유가 메이킹이었나 잠깐 봤는데 남자애 나오길래 아 민지랑 남자애랑 학창시절 첫사랑 이런 뻔한거겠구나 해서 오글거릴까봐 보지도 않았는데 이번 논란으로 지금 처음 뮤비보고 놀랐어요 이건진짜 전연령층을 위한 기획이다 싶었음 요새 뭔 되도않는 나 잘났어 느낌 서양인들 앞에서 재롱떠는 뮤비라 안본지 오래됐는데… 이건진짜 너무 잘만듷엇네요 + 근데 저는 이 뮤비가 그 의도라고 해석한건 아니에요! 그냥 어른들도 추억할수 있는 예전의 순수한 마음을 뮤비에 담아낸 듯한 느낌이 들어서 좋았던거예요! 하지만 다양한 해석도 존중합니다
I actually watched B side first and then when I watched A side it was such a plot twist. It feels like you can either watch the videos from A to B or B to A and the feeling and interpretation gets more fuller, kind of slightly different outcome each time I watch it. I like it that they made it so that it adds to the mysterious feeling.
The creative team that have been guiding New Jeans since debut has done a truly INCREDIBLE job. These girls are getting the absolute best support in terms of concept, songs, choreography, styling and "branding". The "Ditto" sides A & B are two absolutely incredible MVs in terms of the concept and artistry of the MV cinematography and direction. The wistful, melancholic and slightly haunting sound/singing supports perfectly the message of the song. It was truly a stroke of inspiration to make this into two MVs, with both MVs needing to be viewed in order to gain the fuller, more deep meaning. The ending of Side A is so heartbreaking when it dawns upon the viewer the darkness that was obscured by the girl's vicarious joy she experienced through her imaginary friendship with New Jeans. For the second MV, the way I interpreted it, was that the girl finally realizes that it is unhealthy for her to live in an imaginary world in which the New Jeans girls are her imaginary friends, and she makes a painful decision to leave her imaginary world and to live in reality (she destroys the camera, walks with the boy, has relationship problems. etc.). That is also why the deer walks away in the corridor, as she no longer lives in a fantasy world. Then, years later the adult version of the girl returns to her childhood bedroom reminisces about her past, including the happy memories of her passion for Kpop idols (symbolized by New Jeans). The girl (now a woman) is able to again let New Jeans back into her life in a healthy manner (with the 5 New Jeans girls happily reentering her room), as she is now more grounded and better able mentally to reap the benefits of Kpop without the unhealthy obsession that her less mature self fell into.
EXACTLY,I love this interpretation the most,I also feel like it‘s definitely related to the kpop world and the fan-group relationship(the one-sided love,the fact that you‘ll never be in one frame with them and how others find it weird)

디토 촬영지인 학교가 기독교 학교인것도 맞고, 이 학교의 여러 건물 중에 한 건물의 지하실은 3.1 운동 당시 태극기와 독립선언문을 등사한 곳이라 합니다. 또한 촬영지인 청라언덕은 우리나라에서 최초로 서양 사과나무가 심어진 곳이라고도 합니다. 이것까지 생각했을지는 모르겠지만 정황상 도움이 될수 있을 것 같아 남겨봅니다.
몇번보고 정리를 해보자면, 외로웠던 어린시절 위로를 주던 상상의 친구가 뉴진스 아이들 인데, 나이가 들면서 어느 순간 잊고 지낼수 있게 되었지만, 어른이 되어 다시 예전 비디오 테입을 틀어보니 예전 모습 그대로 다시 친근하게 나타나 주는 뉴진스 아이들~~ 청량하면서, 몽한적이구, 노래도 좋구, MV 표현두 넘 좋쿤요~

The MV is very visual centered, but when you look at it from a deeper perspective, it's actually really meaningful and almost sad. The MV shows this 6th person following NewJeans and their activities, they watch them dance, watch them talk to other people, and overall be lively and a great friend, to most of us, our Idols are like imaginary friends we sometimes like to confide in when life gets tough, and the MV shows us that. To everyone else, they see nothing, pure blank, but to us, we see NewJeans, and we hear their songs, and we see their dances, and sometimes we apply these things to our daily life. K-Pop is not just Music, it's a way to connect people, and this is why NewJeans will always be my favorite group, because they understand this. ❤🐇 (EDIT) As for a literal interpretation, I think the 6th member represents us discovering NewJeans, we see them and their confidence, their charisma, and wish we were like that. (the girl seeing them in the subway) We start idolizing them and even thinking what they would do in certain situations (her imagining the girls with her.) As for the ending, I think it’s meant to represent the future, after NWJNS disbandment, many of us will look back on them and their activities, dances, etc. and remember memories of them being happy carefree teens. The whole message I think this video is trying to signal is that you only live once, so take every chance you get, grab every opportunity you can. It’s only after the girl throws away the camcorder does she get the chance to talk to the boy, so instead of wishing you were like them, go out there and BE like them.
Ditto는 노래 자체도 감성적이고 아름다운 명곡이지만 뮤직비디오가 정말 아련한 노스텔지어 감성이 넘치네요 이 뮤직비디오 해석을 본 다음 이걸 보니 특히 사이드 b의 마지막 장면을 볼때마다 울컥하게 돼네요 ㅠ 다시는 돌아갈 수 없는 옛 추억 속의 친구들이 방문을 열고 내 앞에 나타나는 상상, 한때 열정적으로 사랑했고 친밀감을 느꼈지만 현실적인 이유로 멀어지게 된 존재(특히 뉴진스와 같은 아이돌)에 대한 이루어질 수 없는 바람이 담긴 상상, 어느쪽으로 봐도 향수를 자극하면서 슬픕니다 슬프지만 따뜻하고 아름답습니다 어떻게 이런 뮤직비디오를 만들 생각을 했나 싶을 정도로 제가 살면서 본 뮤비 중에 최고였어요
저도 딱 그렇게 믿고 싶었는데, 아주 치명적인 약점이 하나 존재해요. 그건 바로 팔에 있는 석고 깁스. 상상 속에서는 온갖 사인과 낙서가 있었지만, 현실에서는 없었죠. 즉..... 그냥 상상입니다. 마지막 비디오 테잎 돌려보는 장면에서조차 티비 속의 5명 모두 다 주인공의 상상. 윗분이 쓴 대로, 그냥 조현병입니다.

there is such a sincerity and genuine approach to all of their MVs and branding. both MVs capture this timeless feeling of nostalgia, the familiar pangs of anxiety, trying to find points of light in a world that can seem dark and lonely. so many people of all ages can relate to the feelings they express and embody with these incredibly thoughtful, brilliantly arranged shots and general vibes of both MVs. it’s so rare and so amazing to see a group have such impact, so early into their careers. i’m SO grateful for NewJeans and everything they’ve blessed us with so far. 💖✨🐰
Im watching this alone in an empty office where everyone has checked out for the holidays. Its hard to hold back tears because ive felt so lonely and kpop helps you escape to an entire community with laughter and belonging. At one point you do have to get back to reality and experience love in real life. Kpop is my go-to at my happiest and saddest times. Im finishing typing this in the bathroom its so embarrassing!!

Personally, both MVs of DITTO illustrates life, a "Fantasy vs Reality" sort of thing. The first MV shows how we can sometimes live our fantasy that it slowly becomes our new "reality", detaching us from the true reality. Living in that world makes others think we're crazy and weird since we're living in a world that they couldn't understand. A fantasy that fills the emptiness reality couldn't. But as we venture into it, instead of finding happiness, we became more lonely as it begans to numb us since what we are experiencing is not true, nothing is true, but a facade of happiness we put up to make up for the emptiness we feel. The second MV of DITTO shows how detaching ourselves in the fantasy we've lived - our comfort zone, can help grasp the reality we actually need in the first place. Not everything in this world can go like how we want it to be, not everything is comfortable, and that is why we keep venturing to look what makes us TRULY happy. We began to live the life that gives us true happiness, and the Fantasy we've live simply became a past we wish we could have lived longer, but never wanting to truly go back.
in a very roundabout way it kinda reminds me of Plato's world of forms kinda, like the ideal version of something vs. the real, imperfect version. nice interpretation!
i also noticed how heesoo has a cast on her arm all throughout the mvs and her school scenes when she's constantly with the girls. the adult heesoo doesn't have the cast so yes the pain goes away but that part of our life when we got into kpop becomes a special memory. it's the most appropriate way to define how most people (newer fans) become kpop fans and escape the burden and heaviness (cast) of our lives.

Ngl…I cried. I’ve always been a very lonely and socially anxious person growing up. I’ve always made up stories of friendship groups going on adventures, going out, etc, ever since i was a kid. I think that’s why newjeans resonated with me so much, I could project myself onto these young girls having fun and doing normal teenager stuff. But at the end of the day, there’s this sad realisation that none of it is real. It’s all just idealistic escapism of something I’ll never have. What a beautiful mv.

this video represents perfectly the relationship between the audience and the idol. the audience is always there to watch the idol. using them to feel love, joy, empathy, connecting with them through their own similarities they feel they have with their idol. this can sometimes be one sided. the idol is often there in "spirt", but not always there in reality. Side A and Side B represent the 2 scenarios one can do with that cold truth. One can realize that even if not together physically, both the idol and audience can still accompany and love the each other in a relationship that is understood mutually. Also, one can find that truth too cold and replace that "unphysical" love and "focus your lens"(the camera representing what you focus on) on a love thats more "real" like the girl does with guy she likes. However, in both scenarios, the "idol"(newjeans) will still be there no matter how long with open arms awaiting the next time they meet again(the deer).

NJ's creative team has such a solid grasp of nostalgia and sentimentality, loneliness and coming of age and what it felt like to grow up in that strange transitory period between the late 90s and early 00s. It's been so weirdly cool to see a Gen Z group embody the Millennial sensibility of this era and see bits and pieces of my childhood through this creative direction. I can't get over the innumerable and deliberate choices they make to really instill that sense of place and time and to capture the longing/projection/elation of modern girlhood. Or how cleverly they've shown what a timeless desire it is to just have a sense of belonging. To have memories and evidence of a life worth living, a friend group that makes you feel loved and confident. To feel pretty and young and cool and carefree or to have the courage to just be yourself. I loved these mvs but they actually resonated so hard with me that I don't know if I could ever watch them again lol. It tapped into an acute sense of both warmth and sadness that kind of forced me to recall the same void I felt as the sixth girl in my own upbringing. It was so well done it was a little overwhelming but that's what makes it especially beautiful. Well done to NJ and their entire team!
wholeheartedly agree. as much as i love the individuals members, i think the production/creative team really really outdid themselves with the group. choosing these specific girls and creating a concepts that evoke nostalgia esp in millenials (ie me lol) and it takes us back to a time when we were younger.

Wow I cried!!!!! Side A is the a story about a girl who cope up with her loneliness and problems with imagining NewJeans (her idol) as her bestfriends. At those moments, her crush is a constant reminder of how she cant escape reality forever. In side B, she 'drops' her 'friendship' with NewJeans and live in reality. Until one day when she's older, she opens the memory box and reminiscing her happy memories with NewJeans. She let them inside her life again with more grace and maturity, and NewJeans are more than happy to take it. :))

I believe that heeso with the camera represents K-pop fans. We relate to the idols so much that we can almost imagine them there with us, and we fall deeper into the rabbit hole. But it comes with a cost; isolation. By continuing to depend so much on these idols for support, we disconnect from the real world, and ourselves. We don’t even see heesos face until the camera is broken. Unfortunately the actual idols don’t even know who we are and will never know us on an individual level, and it’s unfair to hold idols to such high standards.

The truth is that all our choices and decisions are made only by us, despite there being external interference. In A she is alone from the beginning and sees herself alone, in B only at the end is she alone and sees herself alone. The important thing is, no matter who you are with, or alone, seek your happiness without forgetting that it often lies in the small and simple things in life.

i don't know how many times i watched this mv, there could be a lot of interpretations behind each scenes and surprisingly it can somehow relate to us, i think that's ADOR's plan and they didn't fail. the MV has this feeling of abandonment, feeling stuck from past, and trying to move on from the memories that's making us alive at the same time lost. plus the factor that the chorus is addictive yet calming. I'm so glad Kpop has NEWJEANS now, everything on them is such a breath of fresh air.

This made me cry tbh. Especially the ending when the main character is obviously much older and reminisce those times with her fave idols when it felt like it was just her and them all the time because how much she loved them and how they meant to her. It’s relatable because sometimes when we grew older we also moved on from the things we used to love.

the best kpop release i've ever seen. the song itself shines, but the dark and cinematic music videos paired with ban heesoo's channel showed how creative minds make an idol group go from great to legendary.
love how at the start of this mv, they show us what she see vs how it actually is, how she has no friends and only look at the boy she likes from the camera until she finally letting go of her imaginary friends and can finally be closer with the boy. then, she got to look at the recording again years later for them to come back into her memories.

This is a STRONG MV concept omg. I wonder how Min Heejin explained this concept to the members because they executed it perfectly. It wasn't just "dance here, make this expression, stand here" but they legitimately grasped the concept and expressed it well.
This MV kinda continues the technology theme from Hype Boy, but takes it a step further to show the relationship between idols and their supporters. I'm actually really happy they chose this concept for NewJeans, it's nuanced and hard to swallow but that's what makes it incredible!
I literally teared up watching the side B of this MV i finally realised what it's about when i first heared the song i really liked it but when i watched it's MV then i realised the real meaning behind it.Ditto holds a special place in my heart and it will forever remain one of my favourite MVs.I hope newjeans continue to make this type of music in future i know there's a lot of controversy going on,but i really hope that they continue to produce such great music their concept is really unique...♡
This song is about the relationship between Newjeans and their fans. The camera holding girl represents 'Bunnies' (fangroup name of Newjeans) because she is called Ban hee soo in Korean name at this video and that is so similarly pronounced with 'Bunnies'. She's always with Newjeans and takes their videos like a fan is doing at concerts. She also feels supported by them (Newjeans scribbled on her injured arm) and goes through the ordeal with them (they got rained together). But actually they are not real (she is alone in the end), so she can't be together with them forever. (SideA so far) She gradually recognizes that there is the limit to be together with them (She can't come any closer while Newjeans are dancing). So she breaks the camera, does not get rains with them, ignores the call from Minji. She gets out to the real world and begins the new relationship with the boy. But were all the memories they shared useless times? When she gets old, she takes out the video. And in there, Newjeans are still beautiful, nice, close friends of her. She can still remember the beautiful memories they shared. Maybe she wants to say 'I still like you, girls.' Then drawing her on the blackboard, Newjeans would say 'Ditto.' (SideB so far)

I actually watched B side first and then when I watched A side it was such a plot twist. It feels like you can either watch the videos from A to B or B to A and the feeling and interpretation gets more fuller, kind of slightly different outcome each time I watch it. I like it that they made it so that it adds to the mysterious feeling.

The creative team that have been guiding New Jeans since debut has done a truly INCREDIBLE job. These girls are getting the absolute best support in terms of concept, songs, choreography, styling and "branding". The "Ditto" sides A & B are two absolutely incredible MVs in terms of the concept and artistry of the MV cinematography and direction. The wistful, melancholic and slightly haunting sound/singing supports perfectly the message of the song. It was truly a stroke of inspiration to make this into two MVs, with both MVs needing to be viewed in order to gain the fuller, more deep meaning. The ending of Side A is so heartbreaking when it dawns upon the viewer the darkness that was obscured by the girl's vicarious joy she experienced through her imaginary friendship with New Jeans. For the second MV, the way I interpreted it, was that the girl finally realizes that it is unhealthy for her to live in an imaginary world in which the New Jeans girls are her imaginary friends, and she makes a painful decision to leave her imaginary world and to live in reality (she destroys the camera, walks with the boy, has relationship problems. etc.). That is also why the deer walks away in the corridor, as she no longer lives in a fantasy world. Then, years later the adult version of the girl returns to her childhood bedroom reminisces about her past, including the happy memories of her passion for Kpop idols (symbolized by New Jeans). The girl (now a woman) is able to again let New Jeans back into her life in a healthy manner (with the 5 New Jeans girls happily reentering her room), as she is now more grounded and better able mentally to reap the benefits of Kpop without the unhealthy obsession that her less mature self fell into.

이 학교의 여러 건물 중에 한 건물의 지하실은
3.1 운동 당시 태극기와 독립선언문을 등사한 곳이라 합니다.
또한 촬영지인 청라언덕은 우리나라에서 최초로 서양 사과나무가 심어진 곳이라고도 합니다.
이것까지 생각했을지는 모르겠지만

The MV is very visual centered, but when you look at it from a deeper perspective, it's actually really meaningful and almost sad. The MV shows this 6th person following NewJeans and their activities, they watch them dance, watch them talk to other people, and overall be lively and a great friend, to most of us, our Idols are like imaginary friends we sometimes like to confide in when life gets tough, and the MV shows us that. To everyone else, they see nothing, pure blank, but to us, we see NewJeans, and we hear their songs, and we see their dances, and sometimes we apply these things to our daily life. K-Pop is not just Music, it's a way to connect people, and this is why NewJeans will always be my favorite group, because they understand this. ❤🐇
(EDIT) As for a literal interpretation, I think the 6th member represents us discovering NewJeans, we see them and their confidence, their charisma, and wish we were like that. (the girl seeing them in the subway) We start idolizing them and even thinking what they would do in certain situations (her imagining the girls with her.) Most of their songs are also about young love, which is why the boy is probably there. As for the ending, I think it’s meant to represent the future, after NWJNS disbandment, many of us will look back on them and their activities, dances, etc. and remember memories of them being happy carefree teens. The whole message I think this video is trying to signal is that you only live once, so take every chance you get, grab every opportunity you can. It’s only after the girl throws away the camcorder does she get the chance to talk to the boy, so instead of wishing you were like them, go out there and BE like them.

이 뮤직비디오 해석을 본 다음 이걸 보니 특히 사이드 b의 마지막 장면을 볼때마다 울컥하게 돼네요 ㅠ 다시는 돌아갈 수 없는 옛 추억 속의 친구들이 방문을 열고 내 앞에 나타나는 상상, 한때 열정적으로 사랑했고 친밀감을 느꼈지만 현실적인 이유로 멀어지게 된 존재(특히 뉴진스와 같은 아이돌)에 대한 이루어질 수 없는 바람이 담긴 상상, 어느쪽으로 봐도 향수를 자극하면서 슬픕니다

어떻게 이런 뮤직비디오를 만들 생각을 했나 싶을 정도로 제가 살면서 본 뮤비 중에 최고였어요

저도 딱 그렇게 믿고 싶었는데, 아주 치명적인 약점이 하나 존재해요. 그건 바로 팔에 있는 석고 깁스. 상상 속에서는 온갖 사인과 낙서가 있었지만, 현실에서는 없었죠. 즉..... 그냥 상상입니다. 마지막 비디오 테잎 돌려보는 장면에서조차 티비 속의 5명 모두 다 주인공의 상상. 윗분이 쓴 대로, 그냥 조현병입니다.

OMG 뮤비도 얼핏보면 뉴진스 멤버들이 정신병원에 끌려온 망상병 환자들로 나오지만 그 이면에는 순수하고 자유로운 상상에 대한 존중이 담겨있어요
다소 혼란스럽고 난해한 연출이 담긴 건 사실이지만 단순히 조현병으로만 해석하면 이면에 있는 더 큰 메세지를 놓칠 수 있음
뭐 해석의 자유가 있으니 조현병으로 해석했다고 그게 '틀린'건 아닌데 그렇다고 그것만 '옳은' 것 또한 아님
해석의 자유가 있긴 하지만 한편으로는 아이돌과 팬의 관계를 그린 내용이라고 신우석 감독이 밝힌 바가 있어요 해석의 자유와는 별개로 창작자가 창작할 당시에 어떠한 의도를 담아냈는지는 실제로 있는 객관적인 사실이죠
뮤비는 밝고 풋풋함이 가득 넘치는데 왜 이렇게 마음 시리도록 애틋함이 느껴지는지..

To me Ditto is sucha a nostalgics music video it will make us imagine some lovely past of our own even if we don’t have one. It will remaind everyone their beautiful golden time,which is now lost.. it can make you imagining your highschool crush or some close friend with whom you create so many memories but they are not with us anymore even if it didn’t happen with you it will surely make you imagining as if it’s your own story. Such a dreamy and nostalgics music video 💗🫧

there is such a sincerity and genuine approach to all of their MVs and branding. both MVs capture this timeless feeling of nostalgia, the familiar pangs of anxiety, trying to find points of light in a world that can seem dark and lonely. so many people of all ages can relate to the feelings they express and embody with these incredibly thoughtful, brilliantly arranged shots and general vibes of both MVs. it’s so rare and so amazing to see a group have such impact, so early into their careers. i’m SO grateful for NewJeans and everything they’ve blessed us with so far. 💖✨🐰

Im watching this alone in an empty office where everyone has checked out for the holidays. Its hard to hold back tears because ive felt so lonely and kpop helps you escape to an entire community with laughter and belonging. At one point you do have to get back to reality and experience love in real life. Kpop is my go-to at my happiest and saddest times. Im finishing typing this in the bathroom its so embarrassing!!

‼️ 뉴진스 디토 뮤비 저희 동네에서 찍었는데요 대구 계성중+동산병원이요. 대구 계명대 재단 개신교 스쿨입니다. 병원도 그렇구요. 바로 옆은 선교사 주택+120년 넘은 제일교회, 조금 더 가면 100년 넘은 계산 성당도 있구요. 그냥 뮤비 촬영한 동네 자체가 100년도 넘는 역사의 기독교 집합소 동네인데 장소 선택도 의도 된걸까요? 그렇다면 정말 대박이네요

Personally, both MVs of DITTO illustrates life, a "Fantasy vs Reality" sort of thing. The first MV shows how we can sometimes live our fantasy that it slowly becomes our new "reality", detaching us from the true reality. Living in that world makes others think we're crazy and weird since we're living in a world that they couldn't understand. A fantasy that fills the emptiness reality couldn't. But as we venture into it, instead of finding happiness, we became more lonely as it begans to numb us since what we are experiencing is not true, nothing is true, but a facade of happiness we put up to make up for the emptiness we feel.
The second MV of DITTO shows how detaching ourselves in the fantasy we've lived - our comfort zone, can help grasp the reality we actually need in the first place. Not everything in this world can go like how we want it to be, not everything is comfortable, and that is why we keep venturing to look what makes us TRULY happy. We began to live the life that gives us true happiness, and the Fantasy we've live simply became a past we wish we could have lived longer, but never wanting to truly go back.

i also noticed how heesoo has a cast on her arm all throughout the mvs and her school scenes when she's constantly with the girls. the adult heesoo doesn't have the cast so yes the pain goes away but that part of our life when we got into kpop becomes a special memory. it's the most appropriate way to define how most people (newer fans) become kpop fans and escape the burden and heaviness (cast) of our lives.
