Interesting to see how a Canadian college/ university invites Mr Hedges while we in the US have dumbed ourselves down into self aggrandizement. I’m referring to the fiasco at Rockford college in Illinois where the students didn’t bother to listen let alone understand his speech warning them about the risks of war at the very start of the Gulf war - 20 years ago.
    Kudos Canada!!

💯% on point. Literally Chris Hedges is my favorite speaker currently. I see honesty. I feel zero party bias, and and adequately criticizes both and their system of control and devision. The control of the elite. The deterioration of our social structure and removal of all our fail safe, and the inevitable conclusion as a society if relief is not offered up freely in effect. Not solely in name.
    Great discussion 👏

Funny he should mention Jeff Sachs. He's another man I deeply admire, one who was part of the problem, and realised what he was actually doing, and turned against it to an extent. At least I hope I'm perceiving this right. Anyway, as always, my respect to a modern day prophet who's not stopped fighting for us no matter what.

Chris is one of the members of our AI society that is aware enough to figure out that we humans are just the authentic beings latest AI and have developed to the point that we can not only reproduce but we are on the verge of creating the next level of AI and are afraid of it. Could it be that humans are nothing more than a self absorbed,or should I use the term failed form of AI, that has developed to the point of self destruction? Either way Chris can definitely see and interpret his surroundings better than almost everyone else, while most of society never has a single original thought of their own. So I am trying again now. My message is that we need proper representation. And I know how it can be done. I think I know. I can't be sure until the idea is tested in the real world. Chris, you make note of the fact that if the current situation is left unchecked, then a revolution is not just necessary but inevitable, and note that nobody knows how a revolution will begin. You also note that you support movements, ie. Black Lives Matter; however, you make note of the fact that Trump (and his supporters) could trigger this revolution. Have you considered that Black Lives Matter is not going to tow the line of non-violence and will be the start of this revolution? Black Lives Matter is not really an alternative vision, but rather, a leftist movement that appears to be unable to connect with the right to find an alternative and fair vision of the country. Most major revolutions, not all, but most including the rise of Stalin, Hitler, Mao, etc come from the left. It may only take, like you said, one innocuous act like a violent protester getting shot by a police officer during a rally to create a more concentrated form of violence, and one that could start a chain reaction throughout the country. While I appreciate that you advocate against violence and fundamentalism, many people in these movements do not agree and are being stoked by the corporate media in such a way that they will likely only move further away from being a peaceful movement. If you accept that Black Lives Matter and other such movements may lead to a violent revolution in America, do you believe that supporting such movements is truly a way to a solution? If you do not, then what is the end goal of these movements that is going to help appease the disillusioned right? Would it not be better to support movements that will create jobs and prevent this inevitable violence?
One more question, how do you feel about Trump's stances which appear to move more positive;y towards a semi-"coalition" between USA/Russia to fight groups like ISIS and a more isolationist USA that hasn't really been seen under the last 4 presidents?

Hedges, in his other lectures, has advocated for non-violent revolution. A type of revolution that eventually wins over the sic 'em dogs (my description) known as the military.
A violent revolution, his has stated, would only bring down the force of the military on such a revolution.
He has also stated that all successful revolutions, historically, have been non-violent.

What motivations are there for BLM to work WITH the far right? BLM is an anti capitalist/ imperislist/ sexist movement that has largely gotten coopted by msm narratives. Trumpism may mouth placating words just like German Nazis did adding the word 'socialist' to their name, but that's just bait to lure the naive and easily fooled while actual Nazis crush unions.
