  • “It’s Not About Thick Skin” - I have been writing lyrics for years. Here’s one I just uploaded. The skin of fish that live at the bottom of the ocean where the pressure is immense is not measurably thicker than the skin of the fish that live near the surface.
Hence this song. It’s all about the way the internal and external pressure is exactly like it’s supposed to be, so that we neither implode or explode.
When the external pressure increases, without the matching internal pressure we get depressed and small-headed. Wait for the implosion.
When the internal pressure increases without the matching external pressure, we become narcissistic and big-headed. Wait for the explosion.
The secret. When the external pressure increases, God provides the means to increase the internal pressure so that the pressures are matched to keep us balanced and humble. And vice versa.
This song will now make more sense.

    LYRICS:
Like fish near the surface, skin thin and light,
We feel every wound, every sting, every slight.
But down in the depths, where the pressure's immense,
The skin is no thicker, yet it holds strong defense.
    (Chorus)
It's not about thick skin, it's about the balance within,
Matching external pressure with what's held within.
Fifteen pounds per square inch, the pressure we bear,
But inside, there's a Presence that keeps us from despair.
Betrayal and hurt cut through like a knife,
Leaving scars on our hearts, shaping our life.
But like fish in the Mariana Trench, with resilience deep,
We find strength in the pressure, where secrets we keep.
The world may press hard, try to crush us apart,
But the strength of our spirit is where we find our start.
Not a small head from pressure, nor a big head from pride,
But a balanced perspective where we let love reside.
So let's not grow thick skin, but a heart that's still soft,
Forgiveness and empathy, when times are rough.
