"Black Swan" is about the fear or losing your passion. It is deeper than you think, in many cases about their songs. They all have their own passion in performing arts and music - singing, rapping, and dancing as well as the rappers in producing, composing, and writing, because everybody will come to that point where they lost their determination in their ambitions but they are asking, "But what if the moment's right now?" ...when currently, the world has its eyes fixated on them, big expectations and such very high standards are put on them when it comes to releasing music, vocals and rapping, the MVs, their lyricism, and their choreography. Such a heavy responsibility to carry, especially when people only care about those things, not about their mental health and struggles.
The instrument you hear is a traditional Korean instrument called a Gayegeum. It kind of gives you a cultural vibe, right from the start. Also, I like watching you all react to BTS. you are very respectful to them, and their music. They really are a fantastic group, with so much diversity in their music, it blows your mind. I have been a fan of theirs for about 6 years now, and they never cease to amaze me. I hope you continue your BTS journey. I appreciate, your appreciation for this song. Their music only gets better from here. Keep watching them, and I will keep watching YOU.
these guys are so fking respectful. I am most of the times scared while seeing new reactions to BTS because many just judge them for their pop sounds (butter and dynamite) and log off. I m thankful that they possess a brain to not judge without seeing.
it's really sad to be happy about people being respectful when it should be the norm, but yeah nice to see others listening/watching without prejudice.
Same. Some people also use BTS for views and clout. I no longer watch any reactors to BTS. But I saw these guys today, so I gave them a chance. And I am so pleased to see that their reaction is genuine and respectful.☺
I love your reactions! Black swan is based on a quote by a famous dancer, Martha Graham, who said something like, I'll die two deaths, the first will be when I can no longer dance and it will be by far the most painful. The song is about how, if they ever lost their passion for music it will be their first death. So not only did they write an amazing song, they paid great tribute to Martha Graham by doing their video in a beautiful theatre with modern dance. BTS lyrics are one of the best things about their songs. Always deep and with intent.
I am so happy that the guy in blue noticed the contemporary dancing. It is such a chef's kiss. It turned the song into a masterpiece, a great integration of arts when you experience them. It is very expressive and dramatic as what the song projects. Contemporary dancing needs so much emotions and creativity and flexibility, these all go together. Jimin, a member whose one of his expertise is contemporary dancing, shined here when it comes to their choreography, he has that ability to do graceful and flexible moves, do flips and leaps in the air smoothly. He is also the member who is really hard on himself and feels unsatisfied with his performancess, saying many times that he did not do well.
Honestly seeing new reactions to bts is scary cuz some people be judging at first and I don’t like that but seeing you guys react and having an open mind I f***s with that keep it up guys 💜 I’m definitely subscribing
Having an open-mind and respect are the best things in the world. They just open you to a whole new world of opportunities. Nothing better than breaking the rock where you live under and popping the bubble you are in to see a whole new world of possibilities.
I agree ON Kinetic manifesto come prima needs to be next lol, but at some point you should hear their Tiny Desk Concert live performance with live band :)
This song came out right when I was ready to throw everything away. I was so stuck. I felt numb. I just wanted out! I would sit with this song, listen and had the feeling that BTS had such an understanding of what I was going through.
Thank you for your comments without prejudice : ) Next should be "On(Kinetic manifesto film)" which has dope beat drop, inspiring lyric and amazing choreography! You will loooooove it!!!
The string instrument used is the Gayageum, a Korean zither. Similar to the Chinese Guzheng but with different tonal qualities. Interestingly Black Swan Art Film feature western orchestral instrumentation, at least 4 string instruments including the violin, cello, acoustic guitar.
You should consider watching the live version of this and see the complete choreo. Watch the Jimmy Fallon guesting when they performed this. If not, the ON Kinetic Manifesto will blow your mind.
Really appreciate this reaction! Our boys are so special to us and we love when others get to see what we see. 💜 Thank you for the love and respecta for this song. 💜 I would definitely love to see y’all react to more of their songs. I promise you won’t be disappointed. They have so much to offer as a group, as individuals, as well as the rap line and also the vocal line. They truly are amazing!! 💜💜💜
The interiors of the old theater shown in the video, its stage, stairs, rehearsal classes and foyer are an obvious reference to the 2010 film "Black Swan", where Natalie Portman shone in the title role. The heroes of this film also suffer and "burn out" in the dance. To some extent, the answer to the question voiced in the text suggests a short but expressive frame in which the dancer (Kim Seok-jin) looks at his multiple reflection in the mirrors, and then abruptly leaves - the reflections in the mirrors remain. It must be understood that something will definitely remain after the artist, although perhaps it will be a multiplied, but not quite accurate reflection of his true self. The moment of truth in front of mirrors. The second, the main clue, is in the final frame. The answer is disappointing. On the closed curtain we see the shadow of an artist who bows to the audience in a deep bow and this shadow slowly but irresistibly melts - we are all mortal...
Jimin is armys black swan as this song was made for him so he can show off his contemporary dance skills, This song was made for him and you can tell the passion he has for his dance just by watching this. Jimin is and will always be my black swan that swooped down to save me
You said "Caribbean" right the first time.😭 thanks so much for taking the time to react to our boys, it's not often we come across honest but respectful reactors. 💜💜
Every BTS songs or video have deep meaning or messages. They are not your typical western boy bands who sings about sex booze women drugs etc but their songs are about having depression or loving yourself racism or discrimination etc. They have deep messages and even themselves have experience. I suggest you watch the explanation videos of their mv's so you would really appreciate them. This guys are the biggest band in the world but still remains grounded and very humble. I suggest watch the explanation videos by Xceleste or Bookish Theories etc and you would be surprise how deep their songs are. Just keep an open mind and your journey would be really beyond your expectation. BTS is a Genre in itself. I just want to remind you guys that there is no turning back once you get into the rabbit hole. Good luck and e joy your ride.
Again great reaction, if you just listen to the song with out the captions it moves you but once you read the lyrics it elevates the song to another level. Thanks for being real honest reactors, its great too see people want to learn what BTS is all about.
Don’t be overwhelmed by the plenty comments. We’re literally a battalion of Armys and we love BTS so much that we’d want everyone to know about them. So we can be very enthusiastic about it.
Every component of this song is fire: the beat, the melody, the lyrics, the choreography, and cinematography. If y'all mess with this you will love Fake Love!
btw Natalie Portman is not in Pirates of the Carribean haha. She's from Star Wars and so many other things. Keira Knightley is from Pirates. Black Swan is my favourite BTS song
How wide is BTS' music spectrum, right? they have hundreds of different hit songs, but it doesn't stop there: they have a story&message they offer us. When I listen to them, I feel completely immersed in art. I'm glad I got to know them, they are truly unique. There are no similar, but there are imitations
Your reactions are so wholesome. I just came from the reaction to PTD and wasn't expecting you guys to really like them like you did haha, here for it~~
The song is about an artist loosing their passion for what they love. A lot of people say that song was dedicated to their future selves. When you loose your passion, you forget who you are and identity. You have fought and practiced that one thing your whole life and now it doesn’t make you excited anymore. ,
I love how respectful you've been to BTS. So many youtubers watch one or two of their pop tracks, diss them, and then never give them a chance. BTS make music in all forms. I think you'll love Fake Love, Interlude: Shadow, Singularity, & Outro: TEAR
💜your reaction. Thank you for giving BTS a chance and giving the respect they deserve as artist. At times, people look on the surface and don’t take the time to delve in to what they represent as artist. Their lyrics, choreography is creative art💜 Just found your channel. Looking forward to more BTS reactions.
It is beautiful! Thanks for understanding their talent. And yes, they are famous for their amazing choreography. Jimin who did the contemporary dance.... not ballet...was a standout at his arts high school in contemporary dance. He could have chosen that career, but auditioned for Big Hit and was chosen as a trainee. Then luckily he was chosen to be in BTS. His contemporary dance is featured in his BTS solos and he also performs them on award shows. He is mesmerizing!
Props the one who put the volume up 🤜🏽🤛🏽. I like those kind of reaction, where we can also enjoy the sound :) . Keep reacting to BTS , but react to jimin more 😂
Yes, you guys will love the live concert performance of Black Swan from the recent PTD concerts ( not the one from October in Korea when there was no live audience and V couldn't participate due to injury).
Also they made history (per usual) appearing on Saturday Night Live and their live performance of Mic Drop has a great dance break at the end, great camera angles.(don't watch the Jimmy Kimmel one terrible camera angles and no dance break) And they also did Boy With Luv and their superstar charisma 🔥
Thank you guys for your open minded !!!!!!!!!!! BTS can do every genre, Black Swan is Masterpiece of BTS Masterpieces They haven't bad song at all, I can tell you I watched all Kpop groups songs singers, Believe me There is reason why BTS Nr.1 , BTS produced wrotten own songs, and their beat , melody freaking fckng crazy perfection and they can dance!!!!!! BTS had always most harddes most sync choreo among all kpop groups and only one , who produce write own songs Black Swan wrotten by RM Leader of BTS
You’ll like UGH & DDAENG by Bts too. It consists of the rap line.. ALSO check out Paradise, Pied Piper, Autumn Leaves, Idol, 134340, and Blood Sweat and Tears by them. YOU WONT REGRET IT. ** DDAENG also has a explained video**
i'm glad i came across this channel reaction. i see that you pay attention to all aspects of the song. black swan the movie is really a masterpiece - mainly about the conflict of a human psyche. this song is a masterpiece too. since i see you do read and try to understand the messaging of their songs and mv, there are explanation videos for many of their songs because as english speakers, we miss out on a lot of wordplay as well as cultural references. bts takes lyricism seriously that's why at my age and being a mom at that, i find profoundness in these young men's music and wish for younger people to listen too. 💜
Love your reactions and being open to any music. BTS has other songs that I believe you'll enjoy as well. Make It Right feat Lauv Not Today Idol feat Nikki Minaj Save Me Blood, Sweat and Tears Fire I'm Fine Mikrokosmos Telepathy Do You ( RM) Daechwita (Suga) Airplane (Jhope) Begin (Jungkook)
I love how respectful you guys are towards our boys ! ❤️And how you appreciate the effort they put in their music and performance by noticing details ! i wonder if anyone already suggested RM's solo works from 2015 (Do you , Joke , Throw away..) i feel like you guys would love them because it's pure rap and shows how talented and skilled the rapline of the group is ! (Their works are full of meanings not just catchy beats) and thank you again for these nice reactions 💜
yeah I feel the same 5:12 like their song is trying to say that they have a fear or not wanting to do music anymore and giving up on their dream and such
Black swan is about losing ones passion. So the shadow represents the fear of losing the passion. The shadow is circling around them, following them, and they’re scared it will engulf and take over them. To lose their passion for music would be “how they die their first deaths”. It’s based on a quote about how a dancer will die their first death when they can no longer dance! So it’s about never wanting to lose what makes their body vibrate as they don’t want to lose something that resonates with their hearts! At the end of the video the shadow goes back down representing that they suppressed/got rid of that shadow and that losing the passion isn’t going to happen (soon). It also represents them becoming inspired again!
I am a newer and older BTS fan and I am super impressed at how talented they are! They do different genres, sing in different languages, beautiful music, meaningful lyrics that speak to universal thoughts and feelings, amazing visually artistic music videos, and outstanding and difficult choreography. They are the whole complete package! Check out Airplane Pt. 2 (Korean or Japanese version), DNA, Life Goes on, Make It Right, Let Go, Coffee, and Just One Day, I Need U, Save Me, Your Eyes Tell, Love Is Not Over, Young Forever, Run, Mikrokosmaos, Louder than Bombs, Zero O'Clock, Film Out, Lights, and Telepathy! BTS Jungkook's Euphoria, If You, Only then, Still With You, My Time, and cover songs. BTS V's Inner Child, Snow Flower, Scenery, Christmas Tree, Blue and Grey, It's definitely You (V and Jin), and 4 O'Clock (V and RM). RM's Moonchild.
This song says, “The dancer dies twice. The first death is when the dancer stops dancing. And this death is much more painful,” the legendary contemporary dancer Martha Graham made its motif. Just as a dancer faces his first death when he quits dancing, it contains the fear of the moment when he will no longer be able to stand on the stage as an artist. "The more I do music, the more I fear that music will no longer give me a lot of emotion or trembling, but the moment I face my inner 'Black Swan' from the depths of my heart, I paradoxically realize that there is only music." [Suga] Ayy, they say my heart is not beating no more listening to music Tryna pull up Time seems to have stopped Oh that would be my first death I been always afraid of [RM] If this makes me cry no more If you can't make my heart tremble more How could I ever die like this But what if that moment’s right now right now Ps:Black Swan is my favorite song. When I had to end my 25-year career as a contemporary dancer, I felt the same way, and this song comforted me.
Thank you for appreciating the beauty and depth of the lyrics in this song. You also noticed some details in the video that others missed. I absolutely love how you enjoy and respect BTS. They have so many beautiful songs that get missed. Born Singer..Mikrokosmos..Blue and Grey..House of Cards. Plus some fun ones. War of Hormone..Jump..Boyz With Fun..Dimple.
Enjoyed your sincere reaction. I like the comment you made about keeping an open mind with music. If you guys do that, I can guarantee you a wonderful journey through BTS discography.
Now you gots to watch: -ON (Kinetic Manifesto Film) -IDOL -Dope -DNA -FAKE LOVE They do so many styles. I am in awe of their talent and I have seen these videos a zillion times.
As everyone has said, do the rapline songs Ddaeng and UGH! But do the Korean explanation videos by DKDKTV afterwards. You will see all the amazing wordplay and Korean references. They are both bangers!💜
Hi! I just found your videos. Honestly, I'm not really like to watch reaction vid. but I watching yours and ain't regret. Love to see your reaction and opinion about this MV.
Love, love, LOVE this reaction. Not often that I've seen a reaction with such genuine passion and thoughtful interpretation. Your appreciation of the music, together with the lyrics and choreo/video elements is refreshing. Thanks for starting out my day on such a positive note!
ya gotta check out the performance for like an awards show cause it’s really on a whole other level. they have dancers and i mean idk man it’s wild fr. i also like that these guys legit watch it then explain and analyze what they like about it instead of just watching saying a perfunctory “wow that was amazing bts are cool this was sick” and then ending the video like. i love that yall have a conversation about it. especially this song because the meaning gets deep and anyone that’s any artists of a craft can understand the lyrics and feel them on a personal level. music recc tho, check out the rap lines ddeng and ugh
Thanks for this reaction! Love the free spirit connection to BTS. Check out “ON” “Fire” “Not Today” “Dope” … So many more. Looking forward to more of your BTS reactions. Enjoy! 💜
black swan is about losing your passion, is deeper.. if you guys read the majority of the lyrics, i'll be understand why we're so passionate about them. i hope you guys react to more of them, their content are so good. i hope you guys react to their rapline. (Cyphers, DDaeng, Daechwita, Chicken noodle soup, Joke, UGH! and so many other songs that make us feels so proud), ON kinesto manifest is incredible too, bts is so diverse and you guys i'll see this.. enjoy the ride, i think in the end, i'll be an army like us.

these guys are so fking respectful.
I am most of the times scared while seeing new reactions to BTS because many just judge them for their pop sounds (butter and dynamite) and log off.
I m thankful that they possess a brain to not judge without seeing.

right it’s so refreshing to see
Black Swan is about BTS fear of one day losing their love and passion for music. RM said he cried while writing Black Swan.
On kenetic manifesto film is next y'all!!

(Their works are full of meanings not just catchy beats) and thank you again for these nice reactions 💜
yeah I feel the same 5:12 like their song is trying to say that they have a fear or not wanting to do music anymore and giving up on their dream and such
you guys are so humble and so honest thank you so much for this reaction .....you guys should react to Dope by them
Black swan is about losing ones passion.
Idk I think this song is still underrated. Like it has a very special place in my heart 💜. Everything feels artistic and magical.
RM's Moonchild.
great reaction as always and i’m really looking forward to seeing more of bts on your channel keep it up guys🤩
"The more I do music, the more I fear that music will no longer give me a lot of emotion or trembling, but the moment I face my inner 'Black Swan' from the depths of my heart, I paradoxically realize that there is only music."
[Suga] Ayy, they say my heart is not beating
no more listening to music
Tryna pull up
Time seems to have stopped
Oh that would be my first death
I been always afraid of
[RM] If this makes me cry no more
If you can't make my heart tremble more
How could I ever die like this
But what if that moment’s right now
right now
Ps:Black Swan is my favorite song. When I had to end my 25-year career as a contemporary dancer, I felt the same way, and this song comforted me.
Fireeeeeeeeeee
You guys have a sick squad 😎 Thank you for the BTS reaction

Love, love, LOVE this reaction. Not often that I've seen a reaction with such genuine passion and thoughtful interpretation. Your appreciation of the music, together with the lyrics and choreo/video elements is refreshing. Thanks for starting out my day on such a positive note!
ON Kinetic Manifesto Film and Fake Love next😉
Watch the live performances: PTD LA, Tonight Show, etc.
ya gotta check out the performance for like an awards show cause it’s really on a whole other level. they have dancers and i mean idk man it’s wild fr.
i also like that these guys legit watch it then explain and analyze what they like about it instead of just watching saying a perfunctory “wow that was amazing bts are cool this was sick” and then ending the video like. i love that yall have a conversation about it. especially this song because the meaning gets deep and anyone that’s any artists of a craft can understand the lyrics and feel them on a personal level.
music recc tho, check out the rap lines ddeng and ugh
Thanks for this reaction! Love the free spirit connection to BTS. Check out “ON” “Fire” “Not Today” “Dope” … So many more. Looking forward to more of your BTS reactions. Enjoy! 💜
